It amazing how the last drive of the Iowa game, where Wandale took over…… leaves everyone with a positive take on Coen. Our offense was horrible all game up till that point. That is as with him just missing a left tackle. Looking back at it, I really think the guy under achieved. Our Oline and running back was as good as anyone in the country last year. Throw in a NFL starting WR. We should of had a better offense than we had. People always judge success by wins and loses. When grading someone’s performance, you must consider what they had to work with. Just my opinion!!!
Some of the dumbest takes are on sports boards...you qualify was top one today.
1. Iowa game...you might want to remember our startling LG played tackles and brand new guard.
2. 32 pts a game....37th scoring offense and he under achieved? THe year before that team was 21 pts a game. We had the exact same team on offense with the exception of Wandale, Rosenthal and Levis. So did those three make that much of a difference? Or maybe the coaching was pretty damn good stuff.
3. The NFL WR....was a 2nd round pick. He's caught 23 balls, 227 yards and 1 TD. I love Wandale but let's not act like he is Randy Moss.
4. UK had a good Oline....but as good as anyone in the country? Fortner was 3rd round pick Kinnard was 5th round. Rosenthal ddn't get drafted. Very good Oline but not a top 10 Oline in college.
It will be a subjective debate for sure.....but Scang was handed CROd, Levis and 3 damn good WR. To put up that crappy of a year with all of that handed to you more than deserves a pink slip. And Coen was a damn good OC.
