Coldest you've ever "been" at Commonwealth...

The "a show of hands" topic got me thinking... what is the coldest you can remember being at CWS?

For me I think it was 2008 vs. Vandy - sleeting and just miserable. We also lost, think we had two punts blocked.

Bonus: coldest I've been at any game was the 2009 Music City Bowl vs. Clemson. The second half was just miserable.

Can't remember the exact year (Curry years), but it was a day game against Miss. St. I think. They were letting people in free that day. Didn't even have the blue coats at the gates. The few that was there all moved to the sun side of the stadium. Could get a little warmth in-between snow showers.

Clemson bowl game might of been even colder. I couldn't feel my feet or hands in that one and I thought I was well prepared. The ladies were hanging out in the heated bathrooms in the 2nd half. I was up pretty high for that one and the wind chill was brutal.

I went to that game with my Dad who just passed Nov. 6th.

It was absolutely freezing and we lost to Vandy. Just a terrible game to attend....

That's it for me too. What year was it? 93, 94? Maybe 5K there, seems like wind chill was single digits.

Yep, Vandy 08, brings back some memories. Tailgated, tent, corn hole, heavy coats, sleeting, freezing, plenty of friends. Never lost a party.

Early 2,000s game (I think) v UT at home. Sat up top on sheet of snow and ice, windy as hell.

We were supposed to have a chance. We lost.

Cincy game in the mid 90's, Vandy 08, and the UT game someone mentioned above brings back memories as well. Sat through many cold games at commonwealth.

2002 Kentucky/Vandy. UK won 41-21 under Guy Morris. Toose went for like 240. Coldest game I've been too.

Cincinnati game referenced above. I remember the collective groans from the scattered pockets of fans who stuck it out every time the wind whipped through. ]

Curci's last game against Tennessee (I think it was 1981). Was about 4 to 6 inches of snow in the stands....Man it was cold!!!!

I remember the MSU game. We were sitting in what is now the Nutter endzone. I was standing at field level where the players enter the field. Elliot Uzelac came out, stood and looked at the field and the gloom and said something like "It's a beautiful day" and ran onto the field.

That's my pick too. We took my son and a friend of his, both around 7-8 years old. His little friend didn't have much in the way of clothing, and came wearing nothing but a short sleeved shirt with a thin windbreaker. My wife and I "snuggled" him the entire day. It was BRUTALLY cold and windy.

This is it for me too. I think it was 1994. Two of my sons were with me and it was sleeting and about 20 degrees with lots of wind. The aluminum bleachers were really cold but we loved the game.

Was there that day....dang made it through the entire game but it was freezing cold, the wind made it just horrible.

Moe was fantastic!

I agree on this one. It is was so cold. I remember Tennessee fumbled the opening kickoff and we won. Also remember Fran Curci shaking Johnny Majors hand at mid field before the game and told him we were going to kick his *&%.

This one. 1995 - Moe ran for 273 yards in front of about 3500 people! My buddies and I got so close that we could hear Curry on the sideline!

This is the one I recall. It had snowed prior to the game and it was unbelievably cold in the stands. I remember my Dad and I sitting in the stands inside of a large garbage bag in hopes of protecting ourselves from the wind.

A 3 - 0 loss to East Carolina sometime late in the Curry era. It was an early afternoon game and it had sleeted/snowed the night before. The seats were covered in ice.

Cannot remember if it was 74 or 75 but we were playing LSU and Burt Jones was their QB, by the end of the game the snow was about my ankles and the wind was blowing hard as hell.

I wasn't at 02 Vandy - but my parents were and they do still talk about that one

Not home game, but went to Nippert @UC in the early 90's and sat in a cold, windy sleet.
Wasn't dressed for it and was miserable. Coldest I've ever been.

Lucky enough to go with wife to Iowa/Nebraska on black Friday two years ago @ Kinnick
coldest game I've attended but was dressed for it - heck of a fun game even though Iowa lost

When LSU scored on the miracle pass/run with :02 seconds left on the clock [sick]...fireworks going off :bomb::boom:...fans running on to the field...[poop]

Then the COLD STING OF DEFEAT CRASHED DOWN on Commonwealth Stadium and the Kentucky Wildcats. UK just found another way to lose and crush the hearts of the Kentucky Faithful...

That was the coldest day I remember...:(:flush:

And yeah, I know the temperature wasn't cold that day.

Night game against LSU sometime in the 90's. Wasn't that cold with temps in the low 50's or upper 40's, but in the 2nd quarter the skies opened up and it was like a monsoon rain. I wasn't prepared for that and was soaked through to my undershorts. When you're soaked like that, it doesn't take very cold temps to get your innards shaking.

Agree with the MCB against Clempson. We had club level seats and went in to warm up at the half and saw UK and Clempson fans heading to the parking lot in droves. Where we were sitting, there was probably a steady 15 mph wind with higher gusts.

Without a doubt November 21, 1981. The last game Fran Curci coached and the opponent was Tennessee. I came up from Florida and did not have real winter clothes. So I tried to "layer up". It was too cold to "layer up" But if I had had on an artic fur coat I still would have froze my rear end off. It was so cold very few fans showed up. It turned out to be a good day because we beat Tennessee 21-10 to end a miserable year filled with disappointments.
