Any news? I know this isn't necessarily going to be a Duke get but still curious.

I've noticed Duke has cooled of considerably from Coleman ever since Duke has been pursuing Trevon Duval.
It's one of those, I'm super happy now that we have a good shot with Duval. But if we miss out on Duval and coleman i will be very annoyed. If Duval comes next year and the 3 guards are Duval, Frank, Luke....... i'm already drooling thinking of it. Need to refocus my excitement on getting Giles back soon.

I personally think the time has come and gone for Coleman and Duke. He kept pushing it back, and by all means he has every right to do that, but it effectively gave the Duval situation time to clear up some of the academic and other question marks that were surrounding him. Once that happened and interest was said to be had on his end, Duke rightfully began building interest on their end. I think Duke is certainly in the convo right now for Duval, which if your'e coleman now do you wait to see what he does? If not, then my guess is you go to UT.

Duke hasn't "cooled" on Coleman ( I do like that pun though), but they've given him space by request. He's one of those kids that genuinely is torn between the relationship he's forged and one he's always wanted. That is a hell of a life choice he is about to make so I applaud him for taking his time.

I'm like Show. Just not sold on the Duval situation yet.

Duval gives Duke an immediate impact player at PG. Will be very Kyrie-ish. He's a for sure OAD player. Can't turn away from talent like that.

Coleman is a very good player that would be a great fit at at Duke. Good defender, good handle and a floor general.

Either way one at Duke next season would be super

To me it makes more sense to bring in duval if we can. Especially if we are going to take tre jones in the 2018 class. It doesn't make sense to take two 4 year point guards in back to back class. That becomes an issue when looking at the 2019 class and Cole Anthony. He should be our top target in that class

I would go with the opposite but happily take who wants to be at Duke. Both could do very well at Duke.

I didn't make my pick using who is hands down the most skilled. I made my pick considering who fits in at Duke better and make less waves.

I've got a boatload of reasons. This kid is no ordinary just slide right in and go with the flow, yes sir and no sir kinda guy. Yes, he could click great , lead the team and undoubtedly will be unreal with the ball in his hands. But , this is strictly just my opinion now, hes a tough kid. He strong, strong willed, super cocky. There is no back down in him. He plays angry as one of my buddies put it. Could he be a fella who pulls an amazing team together? Or could he be a guy who's so strong willed he could foil chemistry? I guess that's up to the staff to decide. I LOVE his game. I just hope he can blend with the players he'll be joining. I've been digging deep on him. This kids played in some games that looked so heated ....well, the kid is tough. heheh.

If he's a team player, hell yes I want him. Super strong, great handles, plays through any contact and man could he feed the ball to Wendell, who can really handle passes like that.

I would take Duval - he looks ready to play right now. I don't fear freshmen fitting in at Duke when we constantly have stud upperclassmen returning and other stud freshmen coming in. I don't think any of the frosh this year could get away with bad attitudes with guys like Amile and Matt and Grayson on the team. And I don't think Duval could with Luke/Chase next year (to go along with Carter/Trent/Knox!/...). If you're at Kentucky where there isn't a lot of veteran leadership each year or in a situation like Simmons had at LSU where you are far and away the best player, then attitudes become an issue.

I see Jason Williams mind set in him where he will just completely take over a game if need be. You need the talent to be able to do that.

I'm good with Coleman committing now, he just most likely doesn't start next year if Frank and Luke are back. I'm also not very high on tre jones so haveing Coleman for multiple years would be good.

This is my feeling as well and the same as TestKid mentioned above. Obviously want whoever wants to be here but if we are going after multi year guys like Tre Jones in the class after, I'd say Duval would be who I want for next year. If we get Coleman that is awesome too.

I feel like a spoiled turd contemplating recruits. K and Capel are literally dominating the landscape. It's so amazing right now.

We're in the mix for two point guards who are similarly talented as Duval in 2018 (Quickley and Garland). The only and I do mean only issue I would have taking Coleman is that he'll be here for a few and that could negatively impact those two and/or Tre Jones. We'd only get 1 of our possible '18 prospects at PG as opposed to the planned 2. Unless of course the staff feels they can't land Garland or Quickley. Or that a sophomore Coleman is just as capable as either of the freshmen.

What's your take on tre jones? I don't think he's close to the player tyus was.

He's not, but he offers a four year type of guy who loves the program and is a very capable point guard especially after two years or so. He's a really good defender who has length and athleticism and is pretty heady. He's not Tyus, but he could be closer to Duhon (not the shooter Duhon was though).

In 2018, the two guys who are your "come right in and take the keys" are Immanuel Quickley and Darius Garland. Scheyer is on Garland and Capel on Quickley if that tells you how important the staff thinks they are.

I love having a back up pg, I just hope duke isn't evaluating him with too high of expectations. Sounds like we are not and going after the big dogs too.

Duke is in good shape with Garland and Jones (obviously).

I don't know why that is, but I always liked our end of the contrast in the Plumlee/Zeller dynamic. It says something to me that the Plumlees were all enamored with the same place and wanted to play together. It said something different that the Zellers wanted to play apart.

I don't mean that to say I think one group were better kids, but I always felt like that said something about the school. I feel like that with Jones too. He will have the option of going elsewhere and playing more from the start, but seems to be enamored with Duke. I like that.

Sorry, it's hard for me to articulate, but it makes it seem more like a "family" feel to me which is cool.

To be fair, and I think Cody alluded to this in a video with Marshall Plumlee, there was the whole Kelvin Sampson debacle around Tyler's recruitment. Who knows if he still would have gone to UNC if Crean or anyone else were coaching at IU besides Sampson

I didn't know that. I think my point was more that it gives me the feeling that the families think their kids are actually being looked over, mentored, and taken care of. That is enhanced in my mind if a sibling notices that. It means someone is telling them how great the experience is. I take a lot of pride in that.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a third Zeller that went to ND, right? If not, then I apologize.
