Back in the 1970s I played a card based simulation game called Strat-O-Matic. They are even still a thing. Fast forward to 2008 and I came across a sports site from Cincinnati called Whatifsports.

They are now owned by Fox Sports.

They have several games available, but my favorites are the College Dynasty games: Gridiron Dynasty and Hoops Dynasty.

In both games you start out with a Division 3 team as a coach, you evaluate talent and recruit a team.. Set a lineup and play against other human and Sim coached teams. Eventually you can end up at a Division 1 power 5 conference team as the head coach.

Needless to say, I have spent many hours pouring through players attributes, recruiting players and building teams. I am OK at the game (have won a National Championship in both.. But at the Division 2 level and not Division 1).

I personally like Hoops Dynasty more, but like both games.

Hoops Dynasty is now doing a promotion for a free season with Promo Code: FREEHD16FB

Not sure how long the free promotion will last, but they have a $4.95 promotional Signup for Hoops Dynasty even if you are outside the first season free promotion.

If anyone grabs a team and has any questions, you can contact me there via sitemail: hughesjr

A few years ago, I was off work for a couple weeks from an operation and Simmed every Kentucky team vs one another (I split it into pre and post three point era).

Keep the stats, everything. Bummed though because my computer crashed on me, but the 96 team was dominant Post three point era
