Thought the same thing. Be nice if this garbage was simply stopped by implementation of a no contact rule till after the National Title game. One that has severe consequences for anyone breaking the rule even though many will always try to, covertly.

The rule needs to apply equally to all 130 teams, not just the losers with big names like Nebraska that long to rob another AAC team of their newfound savior.

My issue is with the media...they could have at least held it until the game was over...

I see your point and I thought of that first but to be honest, it’s not their job to protect anyone’s feelings. They are a neutral entity. At least they should be.

The jump on recruiting and pressure to succeed rules college football but would it be that hard for Scott Frost to tell his alma mater that his first priority is to his current team who is having a once in a generation season?

Those buzzards at Nebraska would have waited. And if they didn’t? Scott Frost would have been just fine. He also wouldn’t have to find a scapegoat in the media.

This was a no brainer.
Scott was going to Nebraska.

With the new, early signing period, you have to have a coach as
soon as possible.

John L style was my thought, too.

I read that the news was tweeted by Brett McMurphy. McMurphy used to work for ESPN, but was laid off in the spring.

I don't know who he works for or how he got the inside scoop on that.

Regardless, he needs to be held accountable for his action which could have affected the outcome of a game in progress.

Depends on when the players found out. If you’re a fan, what are you going to do to affect the game, leave or start booing?

Good luck holding someone in the media accountable. Although in this instance I can’t blame McMurphy someone leaked it to him. And he was doing his job. Frost should have got in front of it or told Nebraska he couldn’t talk until after the game. If they didn’t he would have still been offered a great opportunity somewhere.

Coaches never do such.

The weasel John l could have told MSU to wait until after the bowl game, but
he caved.

I'd told them, we'll talk THE DAY AFTER my bowl game and not a minute sooner.
If they couldn't wait, go find someone else.

He didn't, players found out and sent him out as the loser he became, by not
standing up for his current team.

Why is anyone mad at the media? If Frost didn’t want this coming out then don’t accept the job until your season is over. Supposedly his assistants had already started telling some top UCF recruits that they’d like them at Nebraska. Media has no blame at all in this.

Agree. It is what it is. Waiting until the game was over would have been nice, however. But it is what it is until the early signing period is addressed. You need to fill a vacancy asap (LOL Tennessee).

Remember that day very clearly. Which is why I said should. But they never do. One thing is for sure the only ones that consistently pay the price are the student athletes and fans.

John L was having second thoughts about leaving UL.

MSU was having none of that, so THEY leaked the news during the game.

Karma, as usual, took over. MSU sucked under him.

It was the worst kept secret...and even the Nebraska fans I know personally wished ABC/ESPN didn’t announce it during the game late in the 4th Quarter of a tied game...they could have waited up it was a final and at least give him the chance to talk to his guys Officially after they won the American.

He and Nebraska created the situation. If someone is mad, their anger should be pointed at them.

Looks like UCF is going to recover nicely...

On Saturday, UCF lost its coach Scott Frost to Nebraska. It was a move anticipated for some time, even if it went down quietly behind the scenes until the Knights' appearance and win in the AAC Championship Game over Memphis. Nebraska is Frost's alma mater and in the end, it was impossible for him to say no to home (and a seven-year, $35 million deal).

According to UCF athletic director Danny White, UCF knew a change was coming, allowing it to get a head start on its own coaching search. That search is reportedly focusing in on a recently fired coach. Per Ryan Bass of CBS Tampa, the Knights have been in talks with former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin about filling the void Frost leaves behind.

That makes zero sense. Why - particularly fresh off getting his 10M buyout - would Sumlin take a non P5 job? It would be the dumbest move ever.

He will still get the money from aTm....it will be just off set by whatever UCF gives him....Strong did the same last year with his Texas buyout when he went to USF.

I guess, I just think sumlin is a much better coach than strong.

Their both good coaches.
No doubt but, the perception of the two is different and, in sumlin’s favor IMO. I just don’t think that sumlin to ucf makes any sense for him - particularly when he can get another P5 job. That was never going to be the case with strong - he was always going to have to take a step back.

Oh it’s worked out for one Charles Strong st USF. UCF returns a lot of players & he puts A&M in the rear view mirror.

UCF has named Josh Huepel as HC and Randy Shannon as DC.

Pretty good gets if you ask me. While the volunqueers were busy recreating the human centipede, UCF’s guys were doing the work.
