I don't get us being #1, I'd say #4 with FSU, Clemson and LSU being ahead of us. Our WR's (+ O.J. Howard) and LB's are second to none and we have 3 future 1st round picks in the secondary, but the QB is an unknown and we have depth issues along the DL. I think we're one year away, as the 2017 team has the potential to be the best team Saban has had since he has been at Alabama.

Ditto for 2017 being possibly FSU's best team since Jimbo has been at FSU. That 2017 opener should be awesome.

Truth of the matter the only school that could be placed above Alabama IMO is Clemson...truly the Crimson Tide is Reload....the one school that is ranked a little too high is Ole Miss...

There are a lot of questions and unknowns about the Tide this year. We know that Saban has outrecruited the NFL and know he is the best in the game at getting those studs ready, so that gets Bama #1. True until proven wrong. But I tend to agree with you.

Id have to see the FSU QB in a game before I could put them ahead of Clemson. Looking forward to watching the Ole Miss game.

Am I reading that right? According to the AP Poll - UK is the third best team in the state. Not good, but we can definitely change that between now and the end of 2017.

I think Notre Dame way overrated (shocker). I also think Michigan, Louisville, and Florida are overrated.

I think LSU is underrated. Not sure about UT, they could flop or they could go to the playoff.

You act like that is a surprise. We have been third the last 5 years or more (close to 4th the way EKU game went). This is the year we are better than WKU though.

Think otis is also.

No real surprise...most thought that in 2012...2013...2014 on this board...those ranking proved to be correct and in 2012 and 2014 Louisville was under appreciated.

19th is about right...return 17 starters from 2015 from a 8 win team...10 out of 11 starters on offense and the entire defensive secondary...it is what it is

Until LSU get solid QB play can't count on them

And we were right last year when people like you came here preaching about a 9-3 floor. You win some and you lose some.

Not buying Florida as a top 25 team right now until they get some proven QB play.

Just getting so tired of never seeing UK in this poll. In fact, UK is so far down the list right now it will more than likely take winning all games up to the Bama game to even sniff it.

Clearly the media has no respect for UK's program right now. In Stoops 4th season I did not expect miracle but I did expect more respect. Last season really damaged the perception of this program. As I have said several times, I really hope these players have a massive chip on their shoulders and come out ready to knock some heads.

That's your opinion (assuming that you still don't think they will have solid QB play). They have the most talented roster in college football this year.

Last season their QB play for the most part was average at best...still a Top 10 team but if no improvement just don't see them over FSU, Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma and Michigan/Ohio State.

Actually I predicted a 7-5 floor and a 9-3 ceiling and said 8-4 record..never said a 9-3 floor....LMBO...this year a 10-2 Ceiling and 7-5 Floor...calling for a 9-3 record...

This is probably a "one and done" year for LSU, and if they can't make the playoff this year then they may never make it. They're losing over half of their team at the end of the year and they won't be all that special next year (probably their usual 3-4 loss season), and in 2018 they'll be starting either a true Freshman or redshirt Freshman at QB. If they don't make the playoff and he isn't canned, then he probably will be in '17 or '18 as those years could get pretty "ugly" for LSU standards. Both Bama games will probably be ugly, especially the 2017 game. I doubt Les will have a team this talented and experienced ever again.

This is the reason a UL fan comes here to post the Top 25. He wants some Cat fan to comment on UL so he can defend his team.

No...actually it is the poll....close to football season and to show how good the SEC is again...a quarter of that league represented with 6 teams in the Top 25 and 2 in the Top 5 with 3 others receiving votes....but if you feel otherwise something I can't control

Not overrated?...OK I'll play along. In your 2015 schedule you beat 0
teams with a winning record during the regular season..4 of your in confidence wins came against teams with a combined record of 14-34 by a grand total of 35 pts, but that is very misleading because 24 of those 35 came against a 4-8 Syracuse team. Lost to 6-6 Aub team that wasn't nearly as close as the final score...overrated? Very much so!!

You could make a better case for Washington being overrated at 14 coming off a 7-6 Record in 2015 and returning fewer starters...but it the start of a new season and in both polls Louisville Top 25....we will see who is correct but starting at 19 coming off a 8 win season and returning 17 starters is IMO about right...Good luck to your Cats in 2016...

No...the OP was actually on the Top 25 and the strength of the Southeastern Conference...my take on Louisville is the 19th Preseason Ranking is about right...most pollsters look at how you finish and how many returning starters are coming back and the schedule...they finished 8-2 the last 10 games...won the Bowl Game and have again 17 Returning Starters and plays in a P5 league and plays a slightly easier schedule...only 1 OOC P5 opponent and it at home...any school with those matrix will go into the next year in the Top 25 especially if you also return your starting QB

first three games against legit teams0-3...finished reg. Season 7-2 beating ZERO TEAMS with a regular above .500...your move. Still waiting on a legit reason vs. 2015 schedule. Sorry Samford doesn't count

Just telling what pollsters look at...Brett McMurphy said as much this morning.. he is a AP Voter....FTR he placed Louisville at 14...yes starred 0-3...but remember also started 6 Freshmen during that time period...improved by the end of the year

Again the only thing I stated is a stronger argument would be against Washington who is Top 15 Preseason...returns fewer starters...had a worse record in 2015...but the Coaches and AP disagree with you. Looking forward to see if we live up to the ranking or exceed it

This is not true. You said that the bottom would absolutely have to fall out to go 7-5 (which I predicted) and then you came back and did a mea culpa after the 0-3 start. You definitely said that 7-5 would not happen.

I wish the UofL-UK thread wasn't deleted but said 7-5 was the floor...at best saw 9-3...had us losing preseason to Auburn, Clemson and FSU with a split with NC State and Pitt.. 8-4 was my prediction and 7-5 was the floor...but to be fair you might have me confused with someone else.. now I did say 5-7 was unlikely due to the schedule.

This year see 9-3...huge trap game at Marshall

Telling you are wrong...Remember I was one of the few Louisville posters that you gave credit for not saying 10-2...if you remember I was worried about Houston since it was between Auburn and Clemson but thought we would win because Herman was a 1st year coach.

This year the two games I worry about are @ Marshall and @ Virginia...Mendenhall is a hellva coach

Must be nice to "worry" about teams like Marshall and Virginia. UVA ESPN preseason #66 and Marshall #75. I thought you guys were powerhouse football.

Says a lot about your strength of schedule when you are worried about teams like THAT. I forget though, you guys are used to massive cupcake schedules in the past, so now that you play maybe 2 ranked conference teams in a season, you think you are with the big boys. But teams like Marshall and UVA still scare you...lol.
