There must have been hurt feelings on the Lumpkin dunk at the end. Pussies.

There was nothing wrong with that dunk. Anyone on any team would have done the same thing. Should they apologize for hitting a meaningless 3 at the buzzer?

Boo hoo. Their fans cried. I'm so sorry for them. Truly sorry. I apologize on behalf of all NU fans for this victory.

Not.

Post game conference Collins commented that everyone was a little excited and that's why Sanjay dunked. He added the right thing to do would have been to pull the ball out.

If the Wisconsin assistant coaches are so short-sighted and ignorant to not understand why someone like Sanjay would have thrown one down at the end of the game, given all the years of baggage and losses and negative moments and negative karma our program has experienced, then honestly EFF THEM. That's lame and assistant coaches should just kind of keep their mouth shut at that point, if there's a problem it's for Gard to communicate with Collins.

Joey Meyer said on WGN, not once but twice that Chris should ignore them and celebrate the WIN. If they didn't like the dunk, to dam bad or just maybe they could have played some defense.

Hard to feel for them. Game was not really over then. Didn't they go for a steal?

Yep - and makes up for the time when Brown didn't see Lumpkin streaking down the court right before he got fouled (and then missed the top of an 1-and-1).

This is NU BB; the 'Cats need every point that they can get down the stretch.

Was anybody there who can give a more detailed observation?

Anybody see anything from the media?

If they were truly pissed about that, the Badger coaches need to grow a pair.

I watched it three times, I looked like Gard gave Collins the "ole" shake. Then it looked like CC was responding to two of the assistants. It also looked like CC was stating his case with a UW trainer.

If they thought the game was over they should have backed off Mac and let the clock run down. Lumpkin did what anyone in that situation would have done given the significance of the game. It was an exclamation point that our program has arrived ! Collins was very complimentary in the post game about Wisconsin's program. Enjoy the moment.

It's amazing how soft we've become that we're worried about crap like that. It was our biggest win since the NCAA Tournament was invented. I mean .... we win by 8 if he doesn't dunk there, and we end up winning by 7.

I'm upset they cost us a double digit win by jacking up a 3 after the game was decided.

If they are pissed, then that's too damn bad. I've coached youth travel B-Ball for my two boys and my point to them was you only stop competing when the other team stops playing. Wisconsin should not have been trying to trap and foul if they expected NU to stop playing. Wisconsin also shot and made a three pointer at the buzzer so there is really nothing to talk about on this subject.

The funny thing is I was listening in car and XM had the Wisconsin feed. Both Lepay and Lucas were mildly admonishing the Wisconsin coaches commenting that Wisconsin has definitely done that (meaningless end of game dunks) themselves in the past.

Collins is all class and the Wiskey coaches will get over it. Even as a spectator I was on the edge of my seat as Wiskey kept pressing at the end, and the Sanjay dunk sealed the game without being anything disrespectful. Nothing here, folks.

Agreed, and besides, it seemed like Collins was more listening and acknowledging what the UW coaches were saying to him than "going at it" with them. Though he didn't condemn the dunk, he did recognize the legitimacy of their concerns in his postgame presser. Handled it with class, IMO.

I will be happy to see them celebrate their programs biggest win in history even if it was against NU because it would mean beating NU is a big deal.

They should take the compliment we don't get revved up beating just anyone

Just F wisconsin babies. I wish our football team played for 60 minutes when we are up.
Coaches like Collins teach aggression. That aggression is hard to turn off in a high intensity game. Plus, over time, it intimidates. Collins is our first BB coach who doesnt allow our players to be the other teams Biatch. If other teams get their feelings hurt then hit them in the mouth harder and do a reverse slam next time. Let them know its our house.

The dunk and fallout is written about in this column. Personally, I'm glad Sanjay flushed it. It was cathartic. Did Fitz whine a few years ago when Wisconsin hung 70 on the football Cats? I don't recall.

If the Badger coaching staff nose is still of joint, I can send them some calming CDs with music from Enya and Rob Thomas. Maybe a few romantic comedies too. And some potpourri.

Great article, thanks for passing that along.

Wisconsin wasn't conceding the game at that point, so if it wasn't over for them, why should the game be over for us?

Vic had fouled out, if they steal and Koenig hits a 3, it's a different game. If you are going to press, you have to live with the consequences.

Stay aggressive. This was a giant step in this team's journey, but just a step none-the-less. There are more games to win in order to punch our ticket to the dance, and this team is still learning and improving every step of the way.

Go Cats!

Faux moral outrage from a faux moral program. Someone should check in which woman's house Bo watched the game. Get boned UW.

Great column. Henry Bushnell (formerly of InsideNU and still just a kid) is a heckuva writer.

But my thought about this whole thing is exactly the point Henry made: Act like you've been there before doesn't apply. NU hasn't been there before. Give them a break. Let them have their moment.

Yeah... Bo's misdeeds aside, I have trouble faulting Sanjay when the Baders are still pressing in a three-possession game with less than 10 seconds left on the clock.

I disagree with this premise - even if you are duke or North Carolina that was the right play by mac intosh - Wisconsin was still in his face applying pressure and likely would have fouled to prolong the game, Maybe you could argue lumpkin should have just held the ball - but when did this become a thing, why is a dunk not allowed but a three pointer after the dunk is?

And chucking up a three as time expires.

Not like Collins took a time out to needlessly prolong the game, see: Groce, John.

Right and I'll bet that Gard had already had the 8 point play drawn up.
