What’s even less surprising than NU losing leads is your behavior. They do win once in a while; you are a loser every time.
Finally I have to agree. Program has no direction, improvement, nor base fundamentals. It's time to make a change. Get the guy from Wyoming for $ 1.75 million. Improves the bottom line in two ways.

Dave Revsine was not exactly kind to our dear coach when he said "I'm just flummoxed why Pete Nance is sitting on the bench right now" with 30 seconds to go.
It was one of nance’s poorer games of the season. 10 pts and 6-7 turnovers. That was pretty low on my collins’ questionable decisions list last night which was fairly long
There is enough talent on this squad to be .500 in conference and a tourney bubble team. The coaching staff fails our players miserably during conference games. It’s obvious now that the staff is a net negative for us versus other Big 10 coaching staffs.
If they don’t want to fire Collins then they need to force a couple staff changes with some guys that can hold his hand in game or at least prevent him from looking like a deer in the headlights
Last night the Wi-Fi in the arena must have been down so the staff couldn’t google “how to attack a zone” for 15 minutes.

Had a work function and didn’t get home until the second half. Then my power went out when Rutgers cut it to ten. Guess I caught a huge break.
BTW power was restored to catch Nebby blow the victory at Michigan. They have now lost four straight by single digits. This next game should have a monumental collapse one way or another. It will not be comfortable.

They said during the broadcast that, last week, Rutgers only got its first lead with 1:30 to go against UNL. They won by two.
Should have just stuck with not saying that. Not only because Rick Pitino is a slimeball, but also because "Rick Pinto" isn't a real person.

Was at the game last night. The team played much better with Nance out. He hangs at the top of the key clogging that area and does not roll well to the basket. He also is never near the offensive basket to pick up a garbage hoop.
The problem I saw is that we took the position of just hoping to get it across half court. There was no scheme to attack the press. We generally slowed it down during their run which allowed Rutgers to set up its defense and we became a jump shooting team. I have to hand it to Greer. He did a nice job penetrating and distributing the ball.

Totally agree with Greer. He was the one who looked halfway competent last night.
Of the players who have taken minutes, Greer and Roper have taken Simmons minutes completely in conference play.
But enough about that - 2 things drove me crazy. First, Rutgers pressed and trapped the entire second half and 3 fouls - its just not possible. One ref put Rutgers in the bonus by the 12 minute market. It was a solid effort by this stripe to get it done!
Second - FFS when you break the press every now and then its ok to attack the basket. I know they were faced with attacking versus running the clock but ugh.
and a bonus, Audige was a one man wrecking crew in the last few minutes of regulation. TO when he caught a pass. Horrible miss on an open shot and of course the winner - fouling the three point shooter.
Though he was abused by Mulcahy. It was not a clear cut decision on what to do. Our players **** their pants down the stretch s having Greer there helps. But last night he could not even remotely slow down Mulcahy. Could have moved Audige to Mulcahy but who’s to say Baker would not go off? Could have put Roper in, that’s what got him minutes against WI when Hepburn was torching us. But then no Greer on offense.

Couldn't guard Mulcahy, which I'm sure was surprising to the coaching staff. I sure would have thought Greer could guard the guy.
Late in the game, though, that 10 foot runner he airballed was so bad - you have to wonder about him making a big shot. Is it possible he was lobbing it to Young? It missed the rim by a foot.
That's what i'm starting to wonder: Does this team play better without Nance? I can't believe it for a second, but I agree he slows things down. too much time to analyze. Too many bobbles.
I forget whether it was against Illinois or Michigan where he was out and they were moving the ball really nicely for maybe the first time this year..
It's a moot point. I wouldn't do it if I were Collins. But i wonder.
The Division II conference I follow offers streaming of the games, something that wasn't even on the horizon when I attended school in the '60s. I stream a lot of my alma mater's away games, but I don't do it unless I know they've won. Yes, it takes a lot of the drama out of watching it in real time, but I also avoid the potential heart attacks that come with blowing 20-point leads. It isn't as nerve-wracking if you know they'll pull it out in the end.
Kudos to all the hard work Greer has put in the last 4 years to become a viable role player, but I’m not sure what it says about the other players or the staff that he’s the guy with the ball in his hands at the end of key possessions. Maybe he’s the only guy that will listen or they trust to try and do the right thing? Maybe he’s the only guy who isn’t afraid to take the shot- I have a hard time believing that with some of the chuckers we have, It’s confusing as an observer for sure.
The Greer vs mulcahy matchup was a joke and I can’t believe the staff had any hope that it would turn out well on the defensive end especially the way mulcahy was playing last night.
I'm not down on Greer.
He has some limitations, but I didn't realize that Mulcahy is listed at 6'6" (I just checked). He did not look that much taller than Greer on the court last night.
Our offense is most effective when Buie and Greer are teamed in the backcourt.
Collins chose to play a small lineup all night. You might say that played right into Rutgers strengths.
I've watched a few Rutgers games over the past couple of years, and Mulcahy is a good all-around "tweener" type of player who can create real matchup problems for a small guard.
I was wondering if our 6-6 guard Barnhizer might have done a better job than 6-2 Greer. I noticed the size difference, Mulcahy was long and used his size smartly. I recall we recruited him too.
Maybe he just plays in certain situations? Is this like Fitz in a committed relationship that should just be an occasional movie?
On the defensive end the mismatch went on for about 8 minutes too long. RU was exploiting it repeatedly. Why would Baker need to score if there's one guy scoring nearly effortlessly? In the rare times Mulcahy didn't score he passed to someone else who had a layup or dunk.
