Comeuppance v. Vandy

That tells you? That's exactly what it means. The line is going to continue to drop.

I think Beamer has an ego problem. He's not bright enough to out-scheme anyone. He works hard, he's a decent recruiter, and he luckily struck gold with CW. But a smart coach, like Vandy's, will run circles around him. Unless our talent is significantly better, and I don't think it is, Vanderbilt is going to win.
I forgot Beamer is our only coach. Thanks for reminding me. I bet he puts together the offensive and the defensive game plan. The coordinators are probably smoke screens. I am sure Shula, White, Robertson, Furey are NFL experienced pawns.

What?

Shane Beamer can coach.

He has the most wins in history as it stands today after 50+ games.

He's also beaten more ranked teams than Spurrier did over the same time frame.

I have no idea what's going to happen on Saturday -- but people said the same thing about Vandy and their fancy QB last year and we hammered them on their homefield.

It was their worst loss all season.

Make it make sense. :)
Yep…I could go back and show them the receipts if I cared enough. Same group. Vanderbilt, may very well beat us Saturday, but we may very well beat them. I’m looking forward to the game. It’s funny. We have more fans that will be happy if we lose on this board.

I was told ‘everyone’s fans’ are like that.

I guess. When I was growing up, no matter how our team was doing, we would talk smack to Clemson fans and they would do the same to us. We called it fun. Nowadays, it appears to be more fashionable to just be miserable and expect doom.
The key is "when I was growing up."

Shoot, when I was growing up I thought we were national title contenders every year. There is a certain wide-eyed optimism that is a part of youth. I would fully expect any kid to think we had the best team ever. Every season. At a certain, age and maturity level, though, reality starts to dominate.

I haven't seen a lot of doom and gloom so far. Now, I've been around long enough to know you're crack on anyone who says anything less than glowing about our team, no matter the product on the field. So I take it with a grain of salt. You're at least consistent in that way. The honest, unvarnished, objective reality is that we haven't looked that great so far. Swain has been great. D has been pretty solid. Offense has been a crap show. I asked you in another thread, but you never answered. You're always coming down hard on anyone who says anything that hints of negativity, but I have not seen you back your opposing view with argumentative support. What specifically have you seen in the product on the field that makes you happy?

If you're position is simply that you don't think fans should ever say anything negative about the team, no matter what we look like. Fine. You're entitled to hold that position. But you keep hinting that you're happy with the product so far, and I'm just curious why.

I think that this game will be a test for the defense. VA Tech and SC State are below average offenses. Vandy is much more versatile with their running and passing ability. This game should tell the real story.

That's okay Mrs. Beamer. You'll be fine.

So if anyone feels like Vandy will win, you automatically think they're happy about it? Thin skin much?

It’s the delivery and the consistency in their posts. I think we’re going to lose many games in my lifetime. But I can honestly say I have never been bashing our team or our coaches before a Vanderbilt game. So if you have such little confidence, and you want to whine before the game is even played, I don’t know what to tell you. And by you, I don’t mean you specifically I just mean the posters who remind me of Eeyore on Winnie the Pooh.

EXACTLY. it is like some posters feel these young men are losing ON PURPOSE!! Sure i want SC to win it ALL. But all i want to see is 100% Effort by Coaches and Players. IMO that is as much as they can control..

I have little confidence because of what I've seen from our OC and OL the past 3 games and more recently from what I read one of our OL say about lack of communication in both games this season. Beamer seems to have a blind spot when it comes to OC and OL. You disagree? Fine.

We'll see, but we're 5 years in and our OL still stinks, our RB room is still thin, and our OC is not very good. It's a trend. I'm afraid our HC is a special teams coordinator.
I'm hoping for a 2023 Tennessee type game when Satterfield scrapped the complicated schemes and personnel groupings and just sent them out to play football.

I'm old enough to remember the billboards with Dietzel's picture saying, "These are the golden years of Gamecock football."

It's been mostly skilttles, rainbows and happy, happy times with Beamer. There is a comeuppance coming, and sorry to say it, but it'll likely be this weekend vs. Vandy.
While we have been focused on "team culture" (and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that), Vandy had been focusing on football - every bit of it.
