I'm building a home a large deck in the front and back of the house , Need about 1100 Sq Ft . 2 surplus sellers in my area have nice decking at 1.25 a Sq ft but dont have enough to do my job , Lowes is 3.25-5.00 $ a Sq ft .. Anyone know a surplus seller or low priced alternative to Menards or Lowes ?

Don’t think I’ll be mixing and matching on my new log home . See Timberblock Dakota model

That price is where trex decking is right now.

I wouldn’t use a different composite because so many have gone under and trex is strong so your warranty would be covered if you had issues.

Sometimes you can call a store that has left over from special ordered gone bad or having too much but for the most part I’d plan on paying that price if you want it bad enough.

Make sure you design the railing to prevent splash back when peeing off the new deck.

Mods please lock this thread and ban the poster. Price means nothing in the Paddock and if you have to ask about discounts you shouldn't be posting here.

A friend o my dad's had a house built on a lake with a big deck made of that stuff. 6 months later I had to go in, and raise/prop up/straighten every section of railing because the summer sun caused them to sag an inch and more. I never used the stuff after that. Just putting that out there.

Use Azek. Trex is trash.

Joist to be spaced at 12” OC to avoid sagging. Azek as a product is a solid extrusion so less movement... unlike other deck boards with grooves or canals (cheaper).

Not saying you are wrong but trex has 2 different styles and if you use Trex Select to save money then yes it’s trash. Their Transcend product is a very good product and of the 100’s I’ve sold I’ve had 1 complaint.

I don’t know much about the Azek product yet as I’ve only sold 1 deck using that material. I hear it’s a great product but until things go wrong and you test that warranty it’s really hard to just call an established product trash because a new product to the market(at least as far exposure goes) seems great for now.

I bought Paramount from Fiberon . looks great seems to be of good quality . But the surplus place I bought it from doesn't have the fasteners . Man those things are pricey . Im doing 1000-1200 ft of decking . I had the price wrong from this surplus store .. it was 1.15 per LINEAR ft not Sq Ft . anyway far far cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot . Came out to 2.30 a Sq Ft . He said you could use stainless brads to hold them in place ?

Get plastic hidden fasteners no matter what.

Fiberon isn’t bad, I supply about 10K per Panda Express and haven’t had many complaints yet.

Surplus stores are great for that stuff. Again same thing on fasteners......call around as I’m sure a local lumber dealer has an extra few boxes left over they would love to get off their inventory before it comes up missing.

Yes it’s sold per foot not sq foot but it doesn’t matter really, except your price was surely higher than you expected.
