ThinkPads are f***cking amazing, and this one is upgraded to Windows 7 instead on Winblows "I will track every keystroke you enter and submit it in a logistics report to Microsoft" 10.

My budget is really under $500, the more under the better. It's for a fairly simple use. My wife needs a new work computer, but her computer work (insurance agent) is mostly web based. She just would like a 17" screen and for it not to be slow as a mf'er.

Just make sure you dox it to an offline adapter or it could catch on fire like those Samsungs. Not a lot people know that.
What about the porn aspect though? No way to prevent overheating with all that high definition content out there...
4k is not the just the number of strokes required anymore
SoS it and then connect it to a linnux and bifurcate the wire heads to dox back into the offline adapter. Heating won't be an issue.

Why not just spring for one of those fluoroethyldrine coolant systems? Totally negates the need for bifurcation.

This is exactly the laptop I bought two weeks ago, and I'm not satisfied with it at all. Slow as **** on IE; a little faster on Chrome, but not much.
Seriously considering returning it this week.
Both you and OP do yourselves a favor and opt for/upgrade to a SSD. Can't stand working on a PC without one any more.
Laptops with 17inch screens make no sense to me. It's counter intuitive. Anything larger than 15" just sits at my desk like it's a desktop.
