If you're going to go with the 45 ACP just stick with the basic tested proven round. And that's a 230 grain FMJ. You hear all this stuff about Target ammo... ball ammo...practice ammo don't listen to that. The 9mm people had to come up with a way to match your 45 and that's where you your JHP rounds came from. And you'll hear hollow point described as self defense rounds. To me this is all jargon in my opinion. The 9 mm is faster and so it blows apart once it comes in contact with soft tissue. If you try to use hollow point in a 45 you're not going to get much different result because the speed of the bullet is slow enough that it doesn't fragment with the same efficiency. In short, your grandfather killed many of enemy's with his 230 grain FMJ for a reason... It's the ultimate self defense round.
Ok thanks for the info red rover!
"50- 230 grain FMJ RN 45ACP W/ aluminum case"
50 = 50 rounds
230 = amount of gun powder
FMJ = full metal jacket?
RN = not sure what that means
45 = the gun
ACP = not sure what that means, decribes the gun?
W/aluminum case = the outside is aluminum
not sure what JHP means? plus -p? a more high powered gun powder?
I thank everyone for their suggestions, I think I'm going with the Kimber because all them guns are small, it's what I can afford, and I'm only going to buy one gun. and besides works well it's kinda pretty too.
