Was talking about Springsteen in the other thread and I saw Clarence Clemons on the next to last night of his last tour with the E Street Band before he died. It got me to thinking about other concert events
I ate lunch everyday for about 5 years with a guy that was at The Who concert in Cincinnati where the 11 kids died.
My sister was at the Neil Young concert at Louisville Gardens when there was a riot. He was either sick or drunk and couldn't finish the concert.
For me:
Black Crowes concert at Louisville Gardens where they came out, played one song and walked off stage because their backstage people got into it with the cops. The Jayhawks were great and I got to see them for free so there was that.
I saw the Grateful Dead play Truckin' for the first time since they had quit playing on stage for a real long time.
Grateful Dead at Deer Creek when they had to cancel the Saturday concert because the fans outside got unruly and tore the fence down to get it. The last tour before Jerry died.
I saw the Violent Femmes play Gone Daddy Gone live for the first time ever. It was the first show on a new tour at the Center for the Arts and it was the first time they ever took the xylophone on tour with them.
I saw Iggy Pop play at the old Vouge. Nothing special about that except that Alice in Chains opened for him and it was about a week before Man in the Box came out.
