What has happened to this program. I know new schools have been built which students were pulled to other schools. At one time this was a powerhouse football school that gave AL Brown good classic football games, what is called the Battle of the Bell. That rival has went down over the past 10 years or so. But losing to South Rowan 27-10 tells me that program has really fallen off. They are 1-4 and did beat North Gaston 42-0. Will they ever recover to what they were at one time or have they become the new “ South Rowan” that fell off when Carson was built.

Leadership in cabarrus said “concord will never be know for athletics again” and it has happened. So unless someone that fights for the school gets back into the school system I doubt it will ever be back. Could even see it close down.

Don’t look now, but S Rowan has as good a team as they’ve had in quite some time. Those kids have put in some work in the offseason, and it’s showing up on Friday nights. Their only blemish this season is a 5 point loss at NWC. That being said, they still have some tough conference games ahead with W Rowan and JMR. I guess we’ll find out some more about them in the weeks to come.

I’m still not sold on SR they have played a pretty weak schedule.

Concord isn't in the growth areas of the county so they don't get a ton of young athletes in their zone. That being said, they were a 2nd round playoff team last season. It's a down year, but everyone has gone through it at some point.

It's a good senior group and they're bought into who they are as a team. They can't be taken lightly.

I was talking about the county growth in general... Plus you add in new schools that has been built over the last 20 years... THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING IN THAT COUNTY...

I miss those great games between Forest Hills and Concord back when I was in high school in the 80s. Coach Smith and Coach Lowery were great friends and it was always a close battle. Hate seeing the Spiders program not being a top team.
