What is it exactly that is so hard for you (and others) to understand? Nobody cares that he chose Alabama.......what folks DO care about is "how" he chose. He led UK on up until the verge of signing day in order to get perks, b-ball tickets....etc. Knew he was going to Alabama for months beforehand. Left us in a bind not having recruited other RB's to go all out for him.

Real classy kid right there.

Actually he announced his decision on Jan 9th IIRC. It's not like it was a NSD bombshell. Still chaps my behind the way he handled the situation however.

I didn't like the kid when we were recruiting him. Ill probably catch alot of heat for this, but im going to share what I know of him anyway. I am a Richmond native and madison central grad. It is well known that the ONLY reason he went to southern was because centrals coach wouldn't guarantee him a varsity starting position as a freshman. So he tucked tail and ran to southern. My wifes cousin graduated with Damien, and said he wasn't very popular at southern. He told me Damien was arrogant beyond belief and that most of their classmates couldn't stand him. Then you add how he deliberately led our staff on to score bball tickets and other perks, and I just don't care if the kid has an ounce of success or not.

Funny, never heard Harris described that way, and Harris is listed as a commit exactly the same as Emmons is-------5' 11" 205# and with a 4.5 forty.

Just thought it was interesting that they have exactly the same numbers but Emmons is described as a little scat back looking recruit.
Harris is not 5'11". He is more like 5'7"

Happy for the kid but he won't be the next man up. Bo Scarboro will be the lead back and Harris will battle to be backup. He needs to get a lot stronger to be able to run in that offense. A year in the weight room should help

Scarbrough wasn't a 100 percent all season long. He nursed an injured knee most of the season. If you see pictures of him next to Henry and Harris he is actually the biggest one of the bunch. Hard to believe any RB could be bigger than Henry but Scarbrough might actually be bigger and faster. Both are listed in the 6'2" 240lb range, but Scarbrough is only a freshmen eligibility wise.

If my family didn't have ties with Alabama he wouldn't be eligible to play football factoring what he did. I promise you this he is one lucky kid to be eligible right now. If the ncaa knew of the cover up that happened in Berea during his senior year in high school the **** would hit the fan. I stick to my original statement. So call me and insult me all you wish because you don't know wtf went on.[/QUOTE

Then tell us!

Alabama will always recruit and offer the number 1 running back just to keep up appearances. It's obvious that Saban likes and wants big backs which is like the ones now and the ones they recruited this year except Harris is not the tall huge back. I'm sure Harris is a good back but he will never be the featured back in Bama's offense.

Now the fact that he played the UK coaching staff shows more about character than his football abilities.

That sounds as stupid as the louisville **** slingers who always know for sure all our basketball recruits are ineligible. The kid screwed UK over and has been extremely dismissive. If you had anything, so would many other people. If people in the state had something, someone would have said something by now.

That explains it then.

Add to that all the other garbage we have to deal with here on our board. Harris has earned every bit of the contempt he gets, but most of us would be happy enough to never think about him again let him go his way and let us go ours, but these threads keep popping up.

Imagine if KG had treated NC State the same way, and every time he had a TFL you went over to the Wolfpack board and started a thread about it and chastised them for not caring more about how he's doing. At another school. Out of state.

Who? He won't see many more carries next year. Bo Scarborough will be starting by mid year. Kenyan Drake is listed as a senior but I could've swore he got Medical RS for Broken leg. I don't hate Alabama, but you already know the next year they'll have 2 more as big as most offensive linemen in high school. They are gold standard but something is sketchy about how big the RB's get. Look up Bo Scarborough while you're at it, he looks bigger than Henry in the arms and legs
He is in the black jersey.

IMO this is the perfect reply. I'm not upset with him for choosing Alabama but his smart *** comments about UK were pretty poor judgment on his part. The way he misled UK wasn't smart either. I moved on and we might as well all do the same. I'm trying to chalk this up to him being young and immature. The way he used the coaches and all of BBN was worse than a few UK fans that called him out. Hopefully we improve next year and he becomes a distant memory.

Don't forget about Desherrius Flowers either. Due to a bunch of crazy circumstances this year was his best chance to move up and make an impact and he barely saw the field. The only way he will see significant playing time at Bama will be as a DB or kick returns. Saban has already recruited guys that are bigger and faster. Wouldn't be surprised if that wasnt Sabans plan all along. Would serve Harris right if he got used just like he used UK. If he ever sees significant time at RB it will be someplace else which also wouldn't be a surprise given the number of RB transfers that occur at Alabama.

With Scarbrough and Flowers the only way Harris gets significant minutes is if one of those guys gets hurt. My bet is Harris stays for one more season and then transfers because he isn't going to get to play and will be recruited over by bigger and stronger RBs.

So what is the list of great running backs that would have been on our team if not for the Damien Harris recruitment, and Stoops' decision to stop recruiting at that position in deference to the kid?

For those that are touting Scarbrough is going get all the carries:

1. Has Bama utilized multiple backs before? Yes. As early as last yr both Yeldon and Henry split carries fairly evenly. And in 2012 both Lacy and Yeldon split carries fairly evenly. And in 2010 both Ingram and Richardon split carries fairly evenly.

2. Who had he carries in 2015 besides Henry/Drake? Scarbrough had 18 carries with no catches. Harris had 46 carries and 4 catches.

3. Both are different backs. Harris is a speedy slasher and Scarbrough is a punishing straight line bruiser.

I think both get quite a lot of carries this next yr.

You are forgetting about Flowers. Coaches at Alabama were raving about him in spring practice and he would have pushed Harris out of the mix if he didn't have an academic issue and should be back next year. Harris likely will be the number four back, and maybe lower depending on the new guys coming in this year.

I've stood beside Damien. He is as tall as I am, more like 5'9". That was watching the Florida game in 2014 at Hooters. He could have grown some since then.

Saw a picture of him standing next to Henry and he is a full head shorter. When I watched him play I noticed he was not very big. 5'8" or 5'9" at best.

It's not the decision that chaps the asses of so many. It's the leading on of the staff and fans he did all season being an attention ***** knowing what he is going to do.

Screw him. I hope he never sees the field

My thoughts exactly. Over the years, Kentucky has had many players leave the state and go on to have careers in the NFL. Difference being they ruled out attending UK early on, didn't lead on not only the coaches but the fans as well. Kurt Barber went to USC, Lamar Dawson the same thing. Jeff Ellis, and the most famous one, Shaun Alexander. This guy can say what he wants and some of you people can smooch him up all you want. Me? I dont care what he does, where he does it or who he does it with.

Don't know what kind of kid he was in school or whether or not the other kids like him. But I will say I heard the same thing about him transferring due to Southern promising him a starting spot. Not the first time that's happened though. A QB at the high school I attended did the same thing and transferred a county over because he knew he would be the starter.
