SHG in for a big surprise.

Let's see PR vs Loyola instead.

What surprise? That Prairie Ridge could probably contend for the 8A title, or that they may just have the top player in IIlinois, or that they have a team capable of running for 500 yards per game, or that they have the ability to "ground and pound" SHG into table salt. What is wrong with you to make an idiotic statement like that?

As far as PR and Loyola are concerned, go contact PR and have them petition the IHSA to take MS's spot in the 8A title game. Other than that, get a clue!!!

All.... 2013 and 2014 is the past. Relax fellas.... Ratsy

As a note, my statement was in response to yours, verifying how good PR is this year. I've been saying it for the last 12 weeks, so not sure what the issue is.

I've picked PR since after last years playoffs ended. SHG always has good teams but like I have been saying all year PR will roll over everybody this year including SHG.

PR should be playing Loyola for the State Super Bowl next week. (not dissing MS at all but Loyola already beat them earlier this year and the only super matchup we have not seen is PR/Loyola).

I watched Johnsburg beat Phillips Friday night, nothing is for certain. I hope we have 8 competitive games.

PR is no doubt good and they've been steamrolling teams, but both CG and Huntley played them competitively, albeit it early in the year. SHG took down Rochester this year and they have a bunch of state titles under their belt. Have to believe this is going to be a competitive game.

ESL has th best run defense in the state and seeing that prairie ridge is based on the run I don't see it happening

I've seen both teams play in person this year PR blows them out.

PR beats Benet 56-0 (PR starters done at halftime)

OK, by that measure I say NO blowouts (discounting 3A I know NOTHING about). I know it's wishful thinking on my part, but let's see.
As much as I want to see good games I just don't see it happening. Rochester, Peoria, prairie ridge, and ESL are all heavy favorites.

East Saint Louis Run D versus PR run offense is what I would like to see.... AND I think Dean pointed out in another thread that we would have seen that if ESL didn't play up in 7A this year:( I think that would be a very interesting and entertaining matchup to watch.

I agree ESL offense is suspect. They have a couple of great athletes but it's not an overwhelming offense by any stretch. ESL has a non existent kicking game which would be a huge albatross anchor against any top team in a close game. Example the 5 redZone stops Benet made.. any normal team kicks 5 short field goals and probably makes 4 of them (12 points ESL can't get but other teams will)

ESL run D one of the best I have seen. I would like to see PR run offensive go up against ESL run D.

Prairie ridge defense a little suspect. A Dekalb team that lost to a 2-7 Lake Park team put up quite a few points on them in the first half before PR pulled away. I think Estes and Thomas hook up for at least 3 TDs against the PR defense.

I'm not saying ESL would win or PR would win - just saying I think it would be one of the best matchups of the weekend if they were slated to play each other based on each teams strengths and weaknesses.

Let's see the Willowbrook offense scored 30 points off ESTL. The PR offense is 4-5 times better than Willowbrook. Not worried at all about this. PR blows out East St. Louis

5A, 6A and 7A could be one-sided. But, I also think VH, SHG and PFN could make it interesting. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if VH won.

Your kidding right? In a 60 to 27 blowout? Not buying it.

Also two more things
1. I said Run D. ESL is susceptible to the passing attack.
2. They didn't score "30". WB scored 27.

VT,

I usually agree with you but not on this one. We will have to agree to disagree. PR and Loyola are now the top 2 teams in the state and I've personally seen MS twice and would not even put East St. Louis in the conversation.

7A was one of the weakest classes I've ever seen this year. In the past it's been a better bracket with LWE and Glenbard West in it but they both were bumped to 8A. 7A is a joke.

I don't disagree on the 7A Dumpster fire this year. Yeah - not having GBW, LWE, MS etc in 7A this year hurt, but even if they were in 7A this year it would still be down compared to previous years.

ESL has weaknesses for sure - but it's not their run D. Teams that can pass can beat them. Plus they have no kickintg game. Not saying or pushing that they would beat the top teams in 8A or 6A, just would love to see that Run D up against the PR triple option juggernaut. Would be absolutely facenating and riveting to watch.

I think the two best teams in 7A this year were Glenbard North and ESL.

VT,

Maybe I'm wrong on Estl but I just think the best two teams left in the state that we have not seen play yet are Loyola and PR and MS also a great team.

I'm not taking anything away from Loyola and PR. Yeah in my book they are both in the top 3. If Loyola finishes 14-0 and the gauntlet they had to run in 8A playoffs - they my #1 team. I'm just not sure who #2 is PR or ESL and I guess that's where we part ways. For you it's PR no questions asked. For me - I'm not sure PR can pass well enough to win if someone shuts down their run. I'm also not sure ESL could stop their triple O and hence why I want to see that game so bad!!!;)

VT,

I would not be shocked if MS beats Loyola because MS has always been a thorn in the side of Loyola.

After watching Loyola play Glenbard West this is one of the top Loyola team I have seen and I follow Loyola as both of my cousins played for them one on a state title team. I have never seen GW get beat in one half of football at home in a long time. This was quite a great LA team. Right now my rankings are ....

1. Loyola
2. PR
3. MS
4. East St. Louis

We will see if this changes after next week.
