Cats defense is on pace this season to give up 6400 yards ... For some staggering perspective, the most given up during the Mumme era was 4500 and we all know he basically could care less about defense. Just think we haven't even played the meat of our schedule yet...WOW!!!

From a former defensive Coordinator. But by all means..let's keep the guy. He's doing a great job.

It won't be THAT bad.

We'll make adjustments. Kids will develop. We're working harder. We'll score slower. We'll get tougher and not rat trap as often.

We did have a better second half than first which is an improvement.

Plus, I realize that yards allowed is a major component in W-K, but does it really matter how many yards we allow over the season if we have more points than the other team at the end of the game?

It'll be alright.

Remain calm. All is well.

Thats incredible. Mike Majors was literally an amateur. If a staff cant do better than that, every single person associated with the defense needs to resign and do so immediately. This is epic level failure, especially given the competition thus far.

Like I posted two weeks ago, Lamar Jackson will have 500 total yards against us without breaking a sweat. Petrino will run it up, and Lamar will need big stats to help his Heisman bid. Itll be ugly.

On a good note, this should help negotiate a much lower buyout; if thats needed. So Stoops doesnt get his named soiled any further.

It begs the question of why. Why is it so bad this year? This is his fourth year. It wasn't as bad in the past. So, has talent level gone down? Was the loss of Hatcher and others so great that it has caused this? I'd tend to say no because the backups should be able to hold New Mexico State at from running it down our throats. So whIle the talent isn't there as much, we still should be better than nmsu and they shouldn't be able to basically abuse us. The simple answer is coaching, but the coaches were the same as a year ago and it wasn't this bad. Just a really crazy skid to me.

At least give credit to Jeff Drummond for that tidbit.

Thank you Baghdad Bob.

Quite frankly, I just think New Mexico State simply missed on some opportunities in the second half. They had one play where a receiver was uncovered and the QB - despite having all day to throw - missed him for a sure TD. There wasn't anybody within 20 yards of the guy.

And then there was the terrible decision their QB made that resulted in the late INT. If they score there, its a one possession game and the pressure on the home team ramps up.

I say this in all seriousness... If BP can score a 100 on UK as a slap at MB he will and he would deserve it.

Sure is a lot of vitriol on this board...Evidenced by the repetition of threads calling for Petrino to be our coach and for Mitch to be fired..Move on people..your constant lamenting on this stuff is not going to change anything..Especially since Petrino already has a job..Some of you really need to get a life and quit worrying about something that you cannot change. if you dont want to go to the games then dont go, but quit repeating it a 1000 time on these boards. Geez.

I understand that the front 4 is not near SEC-quality nor depth. But that's not the worst of it, imo. How many complete breakdowns in the secondary are we gonna see this year? Receivers just running free all by themselves? It's happened about 3-5 times per game already. Laughably poor tackling angles (especially Edwards). Same goes for the LBs - they all too often run themselves out of the play leaving huge gaps in the line and/or coverage schemes.

If I see another UK DE bite down on the handoff up the middle and allow the QB to stroll around the end scot-free, I may throw something at the TV. Every single year since Stoops has been here our DEs fail to play their assignment on the read-option. How hard is it to grab every DE's facemask and say, "Under no circumstances are you to let the QB get outside of you. EVER!!!! Every single play force the QB to pitch or cut inside. EVERY SINGLE PLAY!" One would think with Spring practice, fall practice, 20 hours per week during the season, someone, somewhere would finally catch on and not let the QB get outside. But, play after play, I see DE after DE bite on the handoff and the QB scoots around the end for big yardage.

I am so tired of people knocking coach Stoops, he will get it done if not this year it will be next year. Stoops is figuring it out and all the microwave fans will fall in line soon enough when we beat the mighty Gamecocks! Mark it down, Stoops it up baby!

No one is calling for Petrino, at least no one sane. He's coaching a better program; why would he take a step back to come to UK? We're complimenting what a phenomenal coach he is and how dumb our AD was to pass on him.

The same idiot who will try everything possible to retain Stoops and miss on Briles, Tressel, etc.

So sorry my sarcasm wasn't clear enough.

I'll check the film, go back to the board and work harder.

I thought it was ridiculous when he was describing how the DB's were SO out of position when we gave up that TD at the end of the first half.

How can this happen without a coach either calling a timeout or at least screaming for them to into position?!

Unbelievable!!

Thank you ...are they not watching the game? About like the "hidden" player at Vandy last year...do the coaches in the booth sleep thru the entire game?
