If you aren’t sure who the more physical team was last week then I’m not sure what to tell you. You either didn’t watch the game or need to watch it again.
Part of tha physicality IMO is that we were so tentative (thinking too much) at the snap that we were beat before contact was ever made. MU made us look extremely slooow in the trenches and I'm not sure that was all physical ability at times.

Yeah I'm not sure why people continue to discount how good we were or how much success we had under Osborne and Devaney. We were an incredibly good team then. Now we're not. There's no comparing our situation back then to what it is now.

The same reason people continue to overstate how great those teams were. From 1973-1993, Nebraska fielded some decent but not exceptional teams. The Big 8 was not a deep league, so winning 9 games was a virtual given, especially with the way Osborne scheduled the OOC games, with an 11 game schedule and only 7 league games, you could get 2 patsies, 1 decent name, and a good team to play in that OOC schedule. But come bowl time, Nebraska was almost always outclassed in big games. 8-12 in bowl games during that time. Including losing like 6 or 7 straight.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but I would say that the last two staffs, (Frost and Riley) made mistakes right off the bat by not keeping anyone from the previous staffs. I know Riley kept Warren on, but he left right after signing day and didn't coach a game for him. For Riley, the only one to me that would have made sense was probably Garrison. Young energetic OL coach who was a really good recruiter.

For Frost he maybe had 3 options, Parrella, Bray or Williams. Of those three I would have probably gone with Williams for his coaching ability and recruiting prowess.

I can see why both coaches didn't, but with the "buy-in" issue being talked about this year and I am sure it was an issue for Riley, a coach from the previous staff can help with that, especially in the first year when things get rough.

I don't think keeping Williams would have changed the buy in. Williams has been very complimentary of the staff and I believe actually worked some with the receivers this summer on his own time. The staff continuity is way more important than whether or not a guy has his feelings hurt over the departure of his old position coach. I think every player was frustrated as heck with how last year went and are pretty accepting of what the need to do. I am not sure however that all of them are willing to put forth the effort to do what needs to get done and I don't think keeping one of their old coaches would have helped that one bit.

Totally wrong. We always played a tough OOC schedule. We didn't play FCS or low level FBS games for every game like is common now. The Big 8 was also not something you could walk through to get to 9 wins in only a 11 or 12 game schedule unless you were a great team. For bowl games, we played a top 10 team nearly every time, many of those being top 5 teams and #1 ranked teams. We were exceptionally good the entire time Osborne was coaching here.

Maybe we would have had so continuity if Eichorst would have hired a better Coach than Pelini instead of a nicer guy than Pelini..

We have Frost now and his staff has to build the program from the ground up from the destruction of SE hire...

I put the blame squarely on Pearlman. He detested the sports programs not understanding what they do for any university. They are your marketing departments. Someone needed to squeeze his bowtie a little tighter during his reign so he would've left sooner. He was not good.

Wrong. At the time, we had a 4 deep better than the starters on just about every team we played in the preseason except for maybe one. Back then there wasn't the parity there is now and we were light years ahead of the Utah States, New Mexico States etc that we scheduled as warm ups for conference play. They may have been D-1, but they weren't much better at all than some of the FCS teams out there now like USD and SDSU. Wyoming did almost spoil the party one year though.
