Cool story about my dad

My dad was heavily involved in NASCAR in the 80s, 90s and 00's. He was first involved as a sponsor, then as he developed friendships he would actually serve as a spotter during races and sometimes would help MRN as a reporter during the races. He also later wrote several very well received articles for ESPN explaining technical aspects of the sport to the average fan.

My dad passed away seven years ago. Couple of weeks ago a friend of mine, who worked for some of the smaller teams back in the 80s, was waiting for some dudes to show up for a job so he decided to listen to a random race on Spotify until they showed up. In that race, the 1987 Talladega 500, my dad was reporting from the garage area, interviewing drivers who just fell out of the race. He told me what laps they went to him and so I went to those spots and listened. It was the first time I'd heard his voice since before he passed. I shared it with my stepmom yesterday. She listened to the whole race and said they went to him 12 times. She doesn't even watch NASCAR.

Pretty cool to hear his voice again after all that time

Having been a NASCAR fan since the early 80's I may have heard of your dad. Would you mind sharing in a private message his name? I would be interested to know if I know him or have heard him on the broadcasts.

What an awesome legacy and way to reach out across time to his family. Really cool story and glad you had that experience.
