Nevermind. I'll just share it now. Once again, this cop was not punished at all.

Just read his texts. Don't feel too sorry for him now. Still such BS about "he was trying to run me over." Gimme a break. Not really worthy of shooting someone.

But the kid sounds like a POS. Wait. No riots over this? No trendy hashtag or pandering?

Maybe I was watching a different video. The video I saw showed a guy that walked about 50 yards and did not listen to the police repeatedly and stuck his hand under his shirt and into his pants and then appear to be pulling something out. Seriously – is that not the video everyone else is watching?

There is a video within the OP link. Shows guy driving away while the cop has his gun out. Sure the cop could have just stepped out of the way and let him go, but dude changed the rules and made his car a deadly weapon. Who's to say what would have happened next if he had made it out of the lot?

He was shot because of a decision he made. He brought a car to a gun fight. This is not a good story to illustrate police brutality.

Wait a minute, you think it's okay to run over a cop? Putting your car in drive and flooring it with an officer attached is attempted murder. The cop did absolutely nothing wrong. He answers a call about drug deal going down and he has every fricken right to detain that guy. Come to find out he was high on pot and cocaine and had a car full of drugs to sell.

I think until people start acting like they are supposed to obey the law that cops should have the right to open fire and exert their authority. Too many entitled jackasses wondering about from lack of wars and we need to thin the herd.

Dude was trying to get away. Cop was never in danger of being run over. Never. The kid is dead because of his own actions, though. He was a criminal, and he tried to flee when caught. Sad all the way around.

I mentioned this earlier but so many cops are full of shat with what they claim. Everyone apparently goes for their gun according to them or they felt "in danger" and that's all that needs to be said to get away with murder.

The cop acted like the judge, jury and executioner. Let's not forget he had no idea bout the texts or what was in the car before he pulled that trigger.

Waiting for the if you don't do anything wrong you won't have any problems.
yes, does not warrant the shooting in my opinion but, if you just comply nothing happens. In Heisman's video, I believe the cop was wrong. Bad decision on his part.

I think it is an important message to send that it is okay to flee from the police with no repercussions. My advice is to not commit crimes. And if you do, don't compound the problem by doing stupid things like disobeying police orders and trying to run away, drive away, etc. That's just me though.

Really though. Why does another human have authority over me? Who gives them this authority? And then who gives that person or persons authority? It's all a bit absurd when you think about it.

If you really think he was trying to run over the cop, then you have some very weird judgemental issues.

I hope you never sit on a jury.

So you think lethal force is justified because the driver tried to flee? Why didn't he shoot his tires?

There is a video in the link where he hits the officer with his car. Who knows his intent. His actions speak for themselves. He saw the officer and then hit the officer with his car. Maybe he was trying to kill the cop or maybe he just wanted the cop to get a closer look at his super cool car. Like I said, who knows. He hit a cop with his car and now he's dead.

Meanwhile back in the real world this guy was on a path to kill someone if he hadn't been stopped first.

"In text messages found on Hammond's cellphone, Hammond said he was "in full outlaw mode" and intended to "go out shooting," Adams said in the letter. He also said he had run several police checkpoints in previous weeks, including one June 23 in Clemson, S.C., that Clemson city police verified.

"Almost every text message deals with Hammond selling drugs to multiple individuals including marijuana, acid, cocaine and prescription pills," she wrote. "The text messages indicate Hammond was actively evading arrest by flight and evading law enforcement due to his outstanding warrant.

"Just four days prior to his death Hammond refers to himself as a 'criminal' and says he is 'Like an animal now,' " Adams wrote. "Hammond also talks about being a member of a gang and even goes so far as to say that police will 'just take me one day.' "

So "Minority Report" is real now?

This part of the article is confusing to me.

Adams said the incident began when Morton sent a text message offering to sell cocaine and marijuana that accidentally went to a Highway Patrol officer, who contacted the Seneca Police Department.

How do you accidentally send a text message to a Highway Patrol Officer offering to sell cocaine and marijuana to him? What are the odds you would type in the wrong number and it would go to a cop? Sounds like he sold to the cop in the past and for some reason the cop turned on him. I wonder if that is who was in the truck next to the car? When the car took off and the cop went after him, a guy came walking toward that direction with what looked like a gun in his hand. It sounded like the cop yelled out that he tried to run over me and the guy said I know or something like that.

Should be easy to follow up on with phone records.
