So the cops aren't racist, but the white people who are creeped out by the mere presence of a black person ARE racist. Makes me feel much better. And es cops do hassle black people who commit the offense of DWB.

Race was always the red herring. Has little to do with it. Best evidence was the video of black partner helping the white officer try to cover up shooting the fleeing suspect in the back.

Also black officers present while they choked the man to death in another case.

It's about power. Those with the badge have been able to do whatever they want for so long, until everyone has a video camera in their hand. The adjustment isn't going well so far.

I would be interested in knowing what caused someone to bite off another man's testicles.

Apparently Officer **** was fondling a woman in a bar. She left and the cop went after her. 2 men stepped up to protect the woman and he ended up biting one of the protector's in the nuts.

shakin' ma head on that.

I think the author makes a good point that most haven't considered. I still think by and large most police officers are dedicated towards doing their job correctly, fairly and honestly. I suspect that the police officers that are inclined to use excessive force, or show of power are internally, not sure of themselves and fearful of their environment, whereas those that are comfortable in their roll, have confidence in their own ability and that of their team mates tend to act more prudently.

Generally, its in all our best interest to support our local police force. Isolate the bad cops and fire them. At the rate we're going, nobody is going to want to be a cop, and then we're all in trouble.

Why would you want to be a cop? It's not worth it. Money isn't good enough to deal with the scum you encounter every day. You arrest these morons only to see them released to do it all over again within a week. Plus, you gotta worry about getting attacked or killed and if you do your job then someone will always cry foul.

Basically no one likes you and although I think half of the cops out there are corrupt, even the good ones probably shouldn't even bother anymore.

As the one place that is doing body cams. Forgot the city, but they have had an 85% drop in cop complaints. That's one way to start the trust back for the civilian/cop relationship. Plus, they have hiring restrictions. I don't have the link, but if you score too high on their tests, they will pass you over.

A good point. There needs to be a raise on pay to attract good candidates. Not much to choose from right now. Makes one wonder why anyone applies for a dangerous job that offers little pay and awful hours. For authority? Probably the majority. I'd wager very few are interested in true civil service.

Please don't feed the card troll folks. He does not show up in these things unless he thinks he can paint UK fans as racist. You don't see him in any other thread except these.

There is absolutely no reason why every cop in America should not have a body camera. What do they have to hide? Who could it hurt?

Them.

Because how else are you gonna whip someone's *** and plant crack on them if you're constantly being filmed?

Prediction: If all cops are mandated to wear body cams, they'll work about as well as the dash cams do. Lots of very convenient malfunctions.

On the candidate part: The best thing is to eliminate all candidates with rage issues, those who were victims of high school bullies or those with Napoleonic complexes ... Oh wait, no applicants would be left

Body cams for police officers is just political horseshit served up to appease the ignorant masses in this microwave society that seem to think throwing millions of dollars at a problem is the only solution. I guess cell phone cameras in every hand, store front cameras and traffic cameras isnt enough , we need to burden taxpayers with millions on police body cams and then top the ignorance off by putting the on/off switch and means to edit in the very hands of the police we dont trust? A bad cop is going to be a bad cop with or without a body cam. Yes, body cams MIGHT deter some police misconduct but the bigger deterent will be the communitys willingness to speak "on camera" to the police about a crime, crime scene, victim or witness. Police get much of their information for solving crime through talking to citizens and as much as citizens might want to do the right thing, they arent going to talk to the police on camera and risk their status in the community.
