Anybody watched this? Thought it was very well done. Wish there was more done on the backstory of the players and how they ended up there. All of those kids had issues where they were from and it's clear going to Cordia was very beneficial to them.

Rod Rhodes seems like a genuinely great dude. You can say what you want about the recruiting allegations but that dude really cares about his guys.

That Kim woman and really all of the Knott Co school board come across looking awful. Seems like the good ol boy system is alive and well in Knott Co. Why wouldn't she be interviewed in the doc unless she's got something to hide or something she wants to go away. Seems like alot of petty jealousy going on in that area.

That Buckhorn team everyone loved come across bad as well. Calling a Cordia player a ***** *** ninjer, after already being involved in an altercation previously because of the use of that word. The coach seems like a decent guy reaching out to apologize.

Hoping this can be discussed without turning into a political **** slinging contest by the usual suspects.

The trailer for it is a joke. That schools been getting the short end of the stick for decades. Way before Rhodes ever showed up.

If they were so racist, howd they hire Rhodes?

Rhodes was openly recruiting without even trying to hide it. Thats the problem.

Zero to do with race.

In that area, race is going to be involved. Rod Rhodes or not, race has and always been an issue in that part of the state(not exclusively, alot of places are that way). To act like it's not is just silly.

Is everyone from there racist? No. It definitely creeps its way into decisions though. Unfortunately things like that take quite a while to change.

You completely avoided any of my arguments, then said "well its in eky. So race must be involved". Thats the best argument you have?

Race was not involved. The people in eky are no more racist than anyone else.

So, the part of the state who shot through a players window, smashed their mailbox, showed up to the game dressed as a gorilla to taunt, tagged the players in photos of hangings, amongst other things, is no more racist than anywhere else in the country?

False.

If those kids went to Knott county and lived at the dorms(Cordia has dorms for kids form far away, don't believe that exists at Knott, so let's just assume they have them). Do you think the same decision would've been made? What about the kids from Cordia that transferred to other schools? Do you think they just showed up? Were there any recruiting issues there?

From what I can gather all of the kids that came in to Cordia were at risk kids who needed to get away from their current situations for one reason or another. Appears that they benefitted immensely from the transfer.

Kids transfer schools and/or get poached all over the state. Parents given jobs(Scott county team Toyota). Nobody seemed to be up in arms until a team of black kids who were pretty good started to beat teams of mostly white kids. Are there other schools coached by a former NBA and UK player that has dorms they can live in, in a rural location?

I'm on the outside looking in, other than travelling all over the state for work so I've been through that general area many times, but if it walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck....

Youre right about one thing - you dont know much about the situation.

Racists dont hire black coaches with zero resume. Cordia was always the stepchild in that county way before Rhodes showed up. Rhodes blatantly broke the rules without even trying to hide it.

It doesnt matter where it happened. Those are the undeniable facts. Race played no part. To blame this on racism is a slap in the face to anyone whos experienced REAL racism.

Nobody blamed it on racism, but to act like it played no part is an absolute joke.

No resume other than playing at UK and the NBA.

I'm trying to have a discussion, and you're here for an argument. You keep repeating yourself, speaking in absolutes yet providing no information other than repeating that Rhodes recruited and acting like hiring a black coach automatically disqualifies them as being racist.

Was the harassment the players received (threats, damaged property, all the things I listed) not considered real racism?

Crooked *** school board that has every reason to want this school to fail claims they cheated.

Well, case closed. That solved it. And this bigblueinsanity guy claims there is no racism involved, so that must be true as well. o_O

You just linked a trailer for a documentary blaming racism, posted about it being racist, the said "no one is saying its racism", just before you said it is racism.

You didnt come here for an argument? Probably right. You were just hoping for everyone to agree? I doubt it.

I already posted facts. Facts that defeat any claim of racism. Theyre not sexy because it shows the documentary to be nonsense.

Rhodes openly recruited. If you werent aware of that, then you certainly shouldnt be commenting. That isnt allegation. Its fact. The khsaa hammered them for it. Shut down their program for an entire season for it.

But ya....racism.

I always just figured kids were going to Cordia similar to a rehab. Getting ppl out of their environment away from anything to focus on themselves and play ball. Why else would anyone agree to move to Cordia..definitely no money there paying them to come
