That was hard to watch. Nice W but BV has some work to do with the boys outside
A pass rush would solve a few issues with the secondary. Quarterbacks who can get good protection and/or throw well on the run can eat secondaries alive. OU's pass rush disappeared in the 2nd half, but it had a lot to do with Oregon getting only a field goal in the first half. That was hard to watch. Nice W but BV has some work to do with the boys outside
Last night the Oregon receivers ran right by a couple DBs who basically froze and before they could turn around the Oregon guy was 10 yards down field. That’s happened all year long. Ridiculously poor deep coverage. That was hard to watch. Nice W but BV has some work to do with the boys outside
I was hoping to see Key get some play at corner or safety in the bowl game but I only saw him in kickoff and punt coverage and then he got hurtConsidering the injury issues, I felt like the secondary played better this season. Graham's effort after the 30-3 mark was indicative of the team's mentality we've seen over the years. "Game is over, we're better and we showed it, they'll stop trying". That has to end immediately. I believe gone are the days of worrying who's feelings get hurt. That mentality will now earn you a spot on the bench.
Graham and Washington are a damn good place to start with the secondary but it's time to light the fire. Davis, Eaton and McCutchen will have something to say in the off-season. I would very much like to see Key and Cridell at the safety positions and Bowman at nickel. I think it could be a strength of the defense next season.
