That was just one anomaly of the election. There were numerous others but somehow the anti-trump people (aka anti-Americans) want you to believe this was all big lie. Still waiting for any never trumper to tell me how any of his policies were bad for the American people or America in general. And climate change crap doesn’t count. You want a big lie, there you go, climate change, been happening since man ever inhabited earth but somehow now that we are here we must stop it,
What policy? Name his policies that benefited this nation and I'll jot some stuff down below.
Tariffs?
Those crippled our farmers so much so they had to be bailed out (almost 30 billion) and one of their main customers ended up going to Brazil never to return.
Tariffs are also inflationary passing the price increase to the consumer.
Tax Cuts
Benefited the rich. Rates for the lower and middle class go back up in a few years. The right claimed they were good for those classes saying the average American household $1600. Using average rather than median skews the number upwards.
Debt and Trade Deficit
People confuse these as being the same when they're not.
Ignoring covid debt by percentage of the economy went up slower than under Obama which is good. Though 44 took over during the worst time since the Depression and most of the debt was created early on.
Deficit which is defined as the difference between spending and revenue went up under Trump after slowly going down under Obama. In other words a higher deficit is worse than a lower one.
Per an article on Fox
"The 2018 deficit was $779 billion and the 2019 deficit was $984 billion, both up from the $585 billion and $665 billion deficits in 2016 and 2017, years Obama was mainly responsible for the federal government's spending. This was largely a result of a large tax cut passed by Trump and a Republican Congress in 2017 and elevated levels of military spending"
Job Creation
I'll give credit for this but remember Obama created more jobs his last 3 years than Trumps first 3 years. So while unemployment went down job creation from 2017 to the end of 2019 was lower than from 2014 to the end of 2016. It's not like the economy was a hellscape when 45 took over
Stock Market
Ignoring 44s first term because it wouldn't be beneficial for Trump going up some 70% from during 44s first term
Comparing term 2 with Trumps first term both 4 year runs yielded around a 47% stock market return.
What I'm saying is I can give credit where credit is due. The market and job creation did well under Trumps but it's not like it was a hellacape prior.
