I think you're ignoring how incredibly diverse the specializations are from one position to the next within the football team
Doesn’t mean football isn’t specialized. Does mean wrestling is also specialized. For example there are absolutely no D1 football players cutting weight to get down to 125 lbs lol

DT has his guy, lets roll with it

I have no doubt Glass could/would be phenomenal for S&C in any sport, but let’s be realistic: he’s the million dollar man to work with football (and maybe basketball?). He may theoretically cover all sports, but his main priority is probably always going to be the revenue sports. Would much rather have a dedicated S&C coach only focused on wrestling year-round. Especially since everything I’ve seen is he’s highly respected for WRESTLING training.

The notion Rob Glass wouldn't realize different sports have different strength needs is funny.
He’s fully capable, and I don’t believe he’s put his name on a poor outcome.

However, the sport of Wrestling needs a significant amount of attention and attention to detail. It is also not a cookie cutter approach to a position group. It is almost case by case…so time consuming.

Absolutely, wrestling needs its own guy and it seems like he is really good. My only point was just that the guys who are good at this can move between sports. They are smart enough to realize you can't train a corner back like a Heavyweight wrestler.

IMO, OSU has a great set up when it comes to the strength program. Heard nothing but good things about Montoni.

I just like that our fans are such OSU die hards they’ll defend OSU folks across the board, lol. It’s quite charming.

“dude even at the end Boone Pickens would have made a great receivers coach”

Hamiti vs. Dake at RAF 01! Previously Aedoen Sinclair was set to wrestle Dake but I guess he dropped out. This is at 86kg so up a weight class from where Hamiti wrestles and where Dake probably should wrestle

I’m not sure how to watch these events or if it’s even available. I got to know Peyton Hall’s parents (great people) at Big XII’s in Tulsa and am Facebook friends.

Kozak's 61kg preview:

61kg Medal Threats

  • Fedor Baltuev, RUS - 2021 U20 World Bronze, 2017 U17 World Gold (teched Jesse Mendez in 2021)
  • Reza Momeni, IRI
  • Mykyta Abramov, UKR - 2024 U23 World 5th, 2022 U20 World 5th, 2019 U17 World Bronze
  • Merey Bazarbaev, KAZ - 2022 U20 World Silver
  • Jeyhun Allahverdiyev, AZE
  • Nika Zangaladze, GEO - U20 Euro Silver (teched Ozdamirov eventual U20 World Champ)
Jax Forrest is fresh off his 5th place finish at the senior world championships and will be in a very challenging bracket at U23 Worlds. I’m picking Forrest to win gold here, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy. Russia’s Fedor Baltuev hasn’t wrestled at a world championship since 2021, where he won a bronze medal at U20 worlds while teching Jesse Mendez in the quarterfinals (10-0). Beyond that result, Baltuev earned his U23 World team spot by winning a deep bracket at the U23 Russian Nationals.

After Baltuev, any of the other 5 wrestlers listed above will be tough challenges for Forrest, but I’m most interested in watching Georgia’s Nika Zangaladze. He’s still young and competed at 57 kg at U20 Worlds this year. Though he failed to place there, Zangaladze previously teched the eventual U20 World Champion Magomed Ozdamirov. Zangaldze has a dangerous leg lace, and if he gets on top, he’s capable of ending any match early.

61 kg Medal Predictions:

Gold: Jax Forrest, USA
Silver: Fedor Baltuev, RUS
Bronze: Nika Zangaladze, GEO
Bronze: Jeyhun Allahverdiyev, AZE

Men’s freestyle starts tomorrow at 9:45 AM central time. At least that’s the reminder I set for myself.

Luke Surber had his first CLAW match tonight, losing a close one to Mike Macchiavello 6-4
How are you keeping track of CLAW matches? It seems a little scattered. But admittedly, I haven’t tried that hard to put anything on my calendar.

Social media. Twitter: https://x.com/CLAW_WRESTLING
They also are on YouTube and Instagram. I also do various pick'ems on WrestleMatness so I notice their matches on there as well.

Their matches are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and are streamed on their website. Tuesday matches are free and Wednesday matches are for subscribers. The season is only like 5 weeks long

$25 gets you everything on Claw and you can watch the duals back if you miss them live. It's a little confusing at first but once you understand the rules it's a fun watch. It's called claw all access

Did you ever find an answer to this? Kind of figured guys like Hamiti, Plott and maybe Hendrickson would enter. Also curious what the plans are for Amine and Fish.
No, unfortunately. Registration closes Monday afternoon so there's a chance they'll register late but they didn't do that in other tournaments this summer.
