actually those plays and that formation has been used for years. Biggest difference though was using OL when most teams used FB. Seeing how there are very few FB's in the NFL, well you get the idea.

Apart from beefing up an interior run play, it pulls 7 defenders into the box and thus forces at least one 1-on-1 coverage. It might help with pass protection too.
