The athleticism and quickness disparity between their players and ours was definitely noticeable.
When the 3s aren't falling they're in trouble. They were playing a bit too loose with chucking up the first thing they saw. It's only November 9th
I don't think it was as much of an athleticism disparity as it was they were the aggressor. We settled for many jump shots, and they were not going in. Like Earsky, I was worried about this team when the 3 wasn't falling. Yet the fact that they cut it to 9 shows that the talent is there to compete. Still have to remember these guys haven't been playing that long together, so they will have growing pains.
The play that stood out to me was late in the 2nd half when Cards were trying to inbound the ball and the UT guy stretched out and caught it at this hard angle before it went out of bounds, then turned and fired it in to his teammate. If you saw it you know what I mean, even if it doesn't sound impressive in words.
You're right the UT players were much more aggressive and physical than us. They dictated the pace and took the Cards completely out of their game and rhythm with active hands and smothering defense.
Some of you need to watch Harvard play; talk about being competitive against inferior talent!
Kelsey will figure out how to make this team more competitive against superior athletes. I am not predicting a complete turnaround in one season, but given the short period that he has been in town, it was unrealistic to expect these kids to match up with Tennessee.

to me, they had a punchers chance but got punched as soon as the bell rang and they didn't have the confidence to overcome as they've never been in that situation as a group. it reminded me of several past bball and football blowout losses where the opponent got us from the start, we didn't score or execute as we should, and it snowballed. honestly, i believe they've had it too easy with ball movement, dunks, steals, defense, etc that they were way overconfident, and maybe rightly so. but when TN came out and took it straight to them, combined with no shots falling, they got steamrolled both physically and mentally. we'll see what type of coach PK is based on what types of adjustments are made for the next game. either way, rough start, but let's hope a motivator.

it would have been interesting to see what the game would have been like if maybe 3 or 4 treys fell in the first 10 so lead in 4-6 range and sometimes closer. would TN have played different? will never know but simply, how often does a team go 16-60? i'm going to guess next game above 50%
That actually happened on at least 3 inbounds play where we couldn't even get the ball in. One of those lead to a turnover. That can't happen.
