Times flies when you’re having fun! Week 7 is here and we have so many questions. Could these be the last CPL football games of 2019? I sure hope not, let’s hope we can get a contract done so Week 8 isn’t missed. I need something to do other than my job…

The last Harper vs Fenger matchup of all time. I remember my grand pappy telling me about the 1956 Fenger Harper game. Fenger had some top teams back in the day but those boys of Harper could battle them. Little know fact the Harper vs Fenger all time matchup is currently tied at 73 wins. Whoever wins this last one will have bragging rights forever.

Crane vs Bulls
This was a game I was excited for in the preseason. Not so much now. The medical school doesn’t quite seem to have the juice that they did last year and the Bulls might actually be better. Well I’m glad at least one Bulls team doesn’t suck!

Juarez makes me think of spicy, Speer makes me think of a weapon. Clearly a weapon is more dangerous on a football field.

Von Steuben vs Whitney Young
This should be a good one. Von is a young program and though they lost the mighty Rood is a solid and up and coming program. After cancelling their season a few years ago Whitney Young has shown great improvement under Coach Mallete and now Coach Finger. I’m leaning towards the finger because let’s be honest it’s a finger and it sounds like Fenger.

Lane vs Phillips
20 years ago it would have been Lane by 100. Today though it’s all Phillips. If the game was at mandrake I’d pick Lane to not even show. It’s at Lane this year so I guess they’ll show up but this could get ugly quick.

Kenwood vs Clark
This game is a must watch this year. Clark fell in a close one to Payton this year. I know my man Percy likes to think of himself as a beacon but as of late he looks more like a Phoenix as he is taking Michelle and rising to new found heights. Kenwood is becoming one of the better CPL programs but has had some surprisingly close games this year.

Julian vs Orr
That Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin story is some crazy ****. Claiming rowing scholarships, what kind of schools have rowing teams, just seems like a weird sport and not very CPL like, I don’t like it. The only thing I like about rowing is the Orr. The Orr is fantastic, I’d rather be in a legit boat rowing then the boat they claimed Loughlin and Huffman’s daughter was going to row but I digress.

It's the best day of the week again! Let's get some Thursday afternoon CPL football going!

Roosevelt vs Senn - I'm really surprised Roosevelt still has a team. So many of these smaller CPS schools should be co-oped. The Dawgs are not one of them though. Senn wins.

Harper vs Fenger - The only shut down / closing Fenger wants to hear about is their menacing D. Give me Fenger

Crane vs Bulls - Chicago Bulls just started training camp, they look improved. Must have been watching how to pull a team together from these youngsters. Crane gets left in the operating room, Bulls in a route.

Juarez vs ITW Speer - I was in Rockford this past weekend and I saw their CC play. The kid that returned their kicks, Brubs or something lke that, apparently went to Speer for a bit. I guess I'll go with Brubs, kid could fly.

Von Steuben vs Whitney Young - Playoffs? We're talking about playoffs? Coach Finger has the Dolphins swimming. Von can barely float. Young it is.

Lane vs Phillips - This game IS at Mandrake. Lane almost had a 50 spot hung on 'em at Gately, no chance they show up for this drubbing, they'll be happy to jump down a conference or two next year.

Kenwood vs Clark - Horsepower vs Beacons? I'll be there for sure. Winner of this makes the jump up next season. Give me the Beacons in the upset.

Ag Science vs Goode - Ag or is it A. G. as in, all good, as the kids say. Would you rather be all good or a goode? AG it is.

Julian vs Orr - I had a friend whose grandpa used to tell me never trust a woman to do a man's job, then again he never trusted women to do anything, since his wife frequently went out of town to visit her son. When I hear Julian, I immediately think of Julia which makes me not want to trust them. Man, I wish Grandpas never died, I could check with him to see if Julian falls into the same category. Too close to call I guess. Give me the Orrsmen.

If and's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. Maybe if Lane brings candy and nuts to this game as a peace offering, Phillips only scores 70. Phillips with the win.

Kenwood vs Michelle Clark
Guns and Roses wrote a song called My Michelle. The last verse says:

Michelle might find love someday. But Kenwood gets the win in this one.

Translation: Who doesn't love Thursday CPS Football? There are some great battles this week, all of which will be reffed by guys in striped shirts. Everyone has been waiting for this week's picks, so here they are.

Ag Science @ Sarah Goode (4:15): Man dis iz a soutwest side battle of too schoolz dat da peepz dont know dat much bout. Man doez anybuddy out dere know da nickname of deez schoolz. Any buddy????????????? Man no dey aren't da buddies, but i bout to tell ya wat dey are. Ag aren't da aggiez (boy dat would be da bomb.com), but dey are da the cyclonez. Ooh dat's a good name. Goode are da knightz. Da knightz! Man, I was watching da big green lass week (man dat's a good flic), and da knightz lost! Derefor, take da cyclonez cuz dey finna winna chicken dinna.

Translation: In a battle of two schools within 4-5 miles of each other, the Ag Science Cyclones take on the Sarah Goode Knights. Much like the Knights in the fabled movie "The Big Green," the Knights will fall today. They are no match for the farm boy cyclones. Take Ag Science by double digits today.

North Lawndale @ Mather (4:15): Man iz funny dat north lawndale finna be playin a skool dat is north of dem. Wat do we call dem. North of da north matter??? Well dis iz finna be a small upset. Cuz mather dont finna matter 2day. Dey playin on grass at winnie da pooh mac and cheese stadium today. Dey on grass, u know wat anoter word for grass is??? Lawn. Dat's a sign, north lawndale gotta go north and dey finna be playin on a big lawn 2day. Dey gonna be rollin up and down da lawn!!!!!

Translation: In today's upset pick, I am taking 1-5 North Lawndale to win at 5-1 Mather today. The Phoenix will overtake the Rangers and ride the momentum of last week's huge win against Back of the Yards. They are playing on grass today, so you gotta take the lawn to win, especially on the north side!

Lake View @ King (4:15): Man dat Lake View, man dey finna suck 2tday! Dey got way too manny dings goin gainst dem 2day. Dey finna havint scored more dan 9 pointz all year!!!! 9 pointz!!!! Dat's it!!!!!! Wat's dat about!!! Its obvi time for da king of kingz to rain supreme on da sout side 2day. And lak view is finna gunna sit on dere buttz on da bus 2day. King gonna be rollin!!!

Translation: Lake View has had many offensive struggles this year. Due to that fact plus a long bus ride today, King will take care of business at Gately stadium today. King wins by a touchdown.

Phoenix @ Marine (4:15): Mann i gonna be a hader if i pic gainst da phoenix, cus man dey be risin all da time. But 2day deby be risin too high to win dis ball game. Doze Marines gonna roll in and cauze sum udder hell 2day wit deir win over da phoenix.

Translation: Phoenix doesn't have a chance against the firepower of Marine today. Marine wins in a blowout.

Dusable @ Dyett (7:15): Dis Diet team, man dey can be good if dey sho up to da ball gamez. Man will dey let da coach get on da bus 2day, if dey do dey gonna win. I finna bet dat da coach and da playerz will ride da bus 2day, which means that Dyett finna force Dusable to go on a diet 2day!

Translation: As long as both teams show up, Dyett will take care of business and roll today over Dusable.

Johnson @ Corliss (7:15): Man dis gunna be a damm good game 2day. Both of deez teamz, man dey r good. Dey aint great, but not many are in da CPS Pick umz. Dis gonna be a tuff ride for Johnson on da bus 2day, but dey will overcome. LBJ, man he was a boss and derefore Johnson will boss Corliss all up and down da feeld in 2days game. Johnson, man dey finna win again and den dey gunna be 7-0.

Translation: This is gonna be a good battle as 6-0 Johnson plays 4-2 Corliss. Johnson will suffer through a bus ride, however, and win this ball game. Expect it to be a close one though.

Washington @ Prosser(7:15): Man if I culd take a team to tie, Id do so in dis ball game 2day. Dis game is finna gunna suck a lot, and da attendance will prob be under 20 2day. 7:15 on a week nite isnt prime for viewin and dat is y no 1 wil be viewin dis bad bad bad bad ball game. Washington is gonna be more madddd dough cuz dey got a long long bus ride.

Translation: I could see this game going into Overtime because they both are winless, and are equally bad. If the lights go out, a tie could happen, but if they force a winner upon us, Washington will reign supreme.
