Next on our season long road trip we make our way to South Carolina. Unfortunately South Carolina has been dealing with some COVID fallout so we do not get to discuss the Timberwolves, the Mohawks or the Fighting Cocks as they have either ended their season or have a whole in the schedule. BUT fear not there are still some excellent match ups in South Carolina and as they say the show must go on! And hopefully soon the show will go back on in Illinois, got my Tuesday MACTION back now I just need some Thursday 4:15 CPL action to really get me right!

Mullins Auctioneers vs Latta Vikings
COVID has sucked. Can't get a Gatley Dog and watch a Thursday doubleheader. Can't kick my feet up at Lane on a Saturday morning and watch Noble Johnson vs Noble Rauner kickoff at 10:30. It's awful, so in an attempt to fill my time I've been watching a lot of Storage Wars. Great show, highly recommend it. And the auctioneer in that show is great, talks so damn fast I hardly know what it is he's saying. Great show but would be better if they just focused on the Auctioneer! The Latta Vikings on the other hand sounds like some drink they order on the North Shore, and I hate the north shore!
Auctioneers by 10 can i get 20, 30 SOLD!

Bishop England Battling Bishops vs James Island Trojans
There is a lot going on with that first school. England is a point against them but understanding that they are Bishop England and therefore must be the Bishops and not the Tigers is a point in there favor. Then the fact that they were feeling a little zesty and threw in a Battling Bishop is another point for them. James Island has the island going for them, but Trojans? That's the best you could do? I'd be in favor of the James Island Islanders or the James Islands Gilligans, those two schools would definitely pull this out but the Trojans...nope

Blythewood Bengals vs Rock Hill Bearcats
Was out taking a stroll through my neighborhood last weekend. Ended up finding one of those classic Chicago Bars that's in the middle of the block, so I course stopped in. Ordered myself a beverage and was just trying to take it all in. Have to figure out who the regulars are, who's the crazy guy who might fly off the handlebar at any second, just taking it all in. Well halfway through my second drink and this dude comes flying in and sits down a stool from me. Takes off his shades looks at me and says "I'm the Bengal and who the hell are you?" I give him my quick explanation, he looks at me nods, grunts and goes back to drinking. Well lets just say I found the regular and the crazy guy real quick. Still trying to decide if I'll make a return trip this weekend. Well the only other Bengals I know play in Cincy and the Bearcats I know also play in Cincy, but Jeff Blake only played for one so this makes for an easy decision.

Walhalla Razorbacks vs Travelers Rest Devildogs
No doubt the Razorbacks are a tough team and if these Razorbacks do the whole PIG SOOIE thing I'm in. But I'm much more intrigued by Travelers Rest. I'm hoping it is close to some cool things to travel too otherwise this name makes little since. But either way I've found another school that belongs in the CPL. If you're telling me you wouldn't love to catch Travelers Rest vs Little Village at Rockne at 3:30 on a cold dark Thursday, you're a LIAR! But more importantly we need to discuss the Devildogs. Two little chocolate cakes with some vanilla marshmallow stuff in between, sign me up, I love a Devildog and if you don't know what I'm talking about, you're missing out!

CE Murray War Eagles vs Johnsonville Flashes
Well while I was at that middle of the street bar last week sitting by some dude who calls himself the Bengal, his friend shows up. Just as crazy and angry as his pal the Bengal. Dude walked into the bar with an orange in his hand. Seemed weird but whatever, I thought maybe the guy likes oranges. He pounds the orange on the bar and then just starts tearing it apart. I see this and decide for my own safety not to look at him. So I focus in on the Ole Miss vs Auburn game and try to only look at the screen. Auburn goes up towards the end of the game and one of the bar patrons yells War Eagles! Well Mr. Orange spins in his seat and throw the orange pulp at the guys and yells back it's War Eagle there is no S! Well after seeing this I quickly pay my bill, tip way to much, I don't need the change that bad, and leave the bar. The more I think about it there is ZERO chance I'm going back this weekend.

Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes vs Goose Valley Gators
I believe this is the first Swamp Fox we have come across and I dig it! Not sure exactly what is different about a Fox and a Swamp Fox but you throw a swamp in and I'm a fan! Can't wait till I find a school thats mascot is the Swampthing! Goose Valley Gators have me torn. Big fan of the alliteration with the G's but how is Goose Valley not the Geese? Huge miss.

South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs Lexington Wildcats
Thoroughbreds is also a new one for us and also a big win in the nickname column. I sure don't want to play a team called the Thoroughbreds or a team with a couple of Thoroughbreds in the backfield or a team with some Thoroughbreds on the OL, if I'm playing the Thoroughbreds I just hope there coach wants to throw the ball, figure I got a shot then. As my friends in Purple say "Go Cats"

Lower Richland Diamond Hornets vs Flora Falcons
As mentioned early I do love an alliteration nickname so the Flora Falcons are good. But Lower Richland doubles up and takes Diamond and adds Hornets to it, that amazing. No idea what a Diamond Hornet is and might not be as intimidating as the Murder Hornets but I'll still take it!
Diamond Hornets are forever win by 19

Wilson Tigers vs Hartsville Red Foxes
Wilson was an extremely underrated character on Tool Time. Bayside was the Tigers. Redd Foxx starred in Sanford and Son. Redd Foxx went to the CPL's own DuSable. I believe the last DuSable game I saw got called at halftime, got to love CPL football!

South Carolina! The home of mustard based BBQ Sauce, the Pelion Peanut Festival, and the state where the majority of 200 Revolutionary War Battles were won by the future United States of America. I've got a bit of a soft spot for the great state of South Carolina, though a lot of people would say that soft spot is because my noggin never healed right after a fall in Myrtle Beach during spring break '91.
On to the picks Y'all!

Mullins Auctioneers vs Latta Vikings
I was all set to pick the Auctioneers. Seriously, how much fun must that stadium announcer be..."He's around the end for 10...10...10....20....20...20..." Every time Mullins scores, he yells "SOLD!" come on, that would be awesome. You know what is more awesome? Pre Game BBQ. Shuler's in Latta is one of the best. The BBQ is Good. The Pork Bog is Awesome.
Never bet against great BBQ...Latta with the win.

Bishop England Battling Bishops vs James Island Trojans
When you are heading to Folly Beach, you stop at Bowen's Island Restaurant where they serve you fresh and steamed oysters by the shovelful. You pay your $1 to become a "member" at the Sand Dollar Club, so you can hammer $1 Longneck Bud Heavies. You roll over to Taco Boy before you head back to the rental. You also drive by James Island High School on your way to all of this fun, thinking every time about how awesome it would have been to go to high school in paradise.
Sorry Bishops. $1 longnecks always win. Trojans!

Blythewood Bengals vs Rock Hill Bearcats
I don't know anything about either of these programs. I do know that if I am flipping through the channels and I see a National Geographic special where a Bengal Tiger is fighting a BearCat, I'm watching. No idea what a Bearcat is, but it has to be a lot bigger, badder, and more fierce than a Wildcat.
With that said...
FENGER!

Walhalla Razorbacks vs Travelers Rest Devildogs
Walhalla is fun to say. Wild hogs are cool mascots. Devildogs are ridiculously tasty, might be the best snack cake out there. Devil Dog is also a nickname for a US Marine. If you think for one second I bet against Tasty Snack Cakes, and the US Marines in the state where they go to boot camp on Paris Island, you are a communist. Devil Dogs. OORAH!

CE Murray War Eagles vs Johnsonville Flashes
If you haven't seen the majestic War Eagle circle and fly into the stadium before Auburn plays a home football game, you need to. Not this year, apparently, because the Rona hates cool things like Thursday CPL action, but I digress. Johnsonville is the home of bratwurst. Yeah, I am aware that Johnsonville is in Wisconsin, but I haven't eaten lunch. Not sure where I am going with any of this, so take the creepy dudes in trench coats. Flashers for the win!

Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes vs Goose Valley Gators
More Revolutionary War battles won in SC than any other state. A big reason was this dude named Francis Marion. Nickname? The Swamp Fox. Still don't recognize him? You know, just the guy that Mel Gibson based the movie The Patriot on. "ooooo fireworks!" Take America.

South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs Lexington Wildcats
Lexington. Home of Wings N Ale. One of the greatest bars in all the land...half round leather booths. Dudes wandering around drinking draft beer out of half pitchers. Women walking around drinking mixed drinks out of half pitchers. Carpet so soaked with beer and chicken grease, you stick to it. Best hot wings ever. Marketing 101. Tell people what you do, then do it well. We are good at 2 things. Wings N Ale.
Get to the bar early and stay late, because Lexington isn't good at football. South Aiken gallops to a win!

Lower Richland Diamond Hornets vs Flora Falcons
If there was ever a game that should be a CPL matchup it's this one. Like Marshal, Lower Richland has dominated girls basketball in SC. They have won a ridiculous number of state championships. AC Flora sounds like the name of a CPS high school for sure. If you told me this game was the 9am Saturday game at Stagg, I would say grab a coffee and let's go. In Detroit, we would say Call D I A M O N D...
BUZZ BUZZ!

Wilson Tigers vs Hartsville Red Foxes
I like Red Pandas. Really the least appreciated of the Panda family. The big fat black and white ones get all the glory sitting around eating Eucalyptus, while the poor Red Panda gets lumped in with the ferrets and brown squirrels. That sucks. This one is for all of the red animals out there. (Except for that Red Bear in all of the USSR propaganda pics. Communists play soccer, not football.)
RED foxes with the big win!

Gentlemen, great set of games but not enough time in the day for a full breakdown. It takes a lot to get a man like me ready for Halloween on Saturday. Due to this you're getting the lock of the week one game special...

South Aiken Thoroughbreds vs Lexington Wildcats
We're in Carolina and we have a match up 'breds vs. Cats. I think my name Schwab must clearly be hitting the sauce too early again. They can not be the thoroughbreds, just can't do it. Those South Aiken boys are a thorough breed of Dogs. Can't have those cats all over the house peering around meowing and screeching. Not when WE NEED THEM DOGS. Get after it like DOGS this weekend gents.

Scare them kids, give out full size candy bars and have one heck of what should be the first round of the playoffs.

Thorugh breeds run right through the screen door in the kitchen and take it.
