CPL Week 10

I apologize for the delay in positing this week. Sometimes life gets busy, you eat a gummi bear and next thing you know it’s Thursday. Let’s get to picking!

We have 1 non Playoff game involving the CPL that I know of. The Noble Super Bowl. We have the Noble Butlers taking on Da Bulls. I got Da Bulls winning this one, 34-13.

We also have one CPL vs CPL playoff matchup, Brooks vs Hyde Park. This should be a close match up. Brooks has a talented QB but in the end Hyde Park is going to be to much to handle.

Orr vs LeRoy
The smallest CPL school to make the playoffs gets LeRoy in the first round. Never heard of LeRoy, but I know LeRoy Butler and he was good at football. Ultimately feel like LeRoy is probably far away and riding a bus all the way up to Chicago to play Orr is not ideal. So I’m Rowing the Boat!

Collins vs Chicago Christian
This game intrigues me. 2 teams in super weak conferences. Seems like anything can happen in a game like this.

I know NOTHING about hall. Never heard of them, never seen them, didn’t even know they existed, which is perfect as half of these CPL teams people don’t know exist. However I do know Clark. And that’s enough for me!

I was hoping Raby was on to something, that this was going to be a multiple year success story. Could still be but this doesn’t appear to be the year for it. IC is good really good. Can we fast forward to IC vs Rochester?

Ag Science vs Johnsburg
I like this matchup. Heard these two teams are meeting up on Thursday and are going to talk about agriculture. The boys at Ag Science are going to teach them about corn and Johnsburg is going to show them what a farm looks like. Real interested in a lot of this, but not too interested in the football aspect. As a side note the Johnsburg HBC was a real snappy dresser. I know he’s gone. Has the staff kept us the good look?

Payton vs Evergreen Park
Payton extremely multiple in formation and highly disciplined. Last time I heard about Evergreen Park, Troy had the job and then didn’t have the job. Not sure how I feel about a long Payton playoff run but I think they live to play another day.

Another one without much analysis from me. The Phoenix sure has been rising ultimately Sterling is to much and temporarily stops their rise.

The first time we’ve talked about Phillips in this thread. Well they got some DUDES! They also have a lunatic DC who has never defended a pass. I’d assume LF can throw but I’m guessing they don’t throw well enough to knock of Phillips. Engage Eight here we come!

Kenwood vs Crystal Lake South
Felt a lot better about Kenwood prior to the Payton loss. I now have minimal faith in their defense, but their fast and I think they can still score. Don’t feel great about this pick but got to take some upsets.

Simeon vs Rockford East
Simeon is good. Best team they’ve had in a few years. Alante Brown is hands down the best player in the city. Not sure how many games I have Simeon winning yet but I got them winning the first one. These ain’t no wolverbitches these are some X-men Hugh Jackman wolverines! BLUE AND GOLD!!!!!!!!

I was hoping this was going to be up for the playoffs, though with no Fenger involved, I must admit this might not be as fun. Here we go:

Bulls over Butler. I feel like this is a class warfare type of game. If you play for the Bulls, you should have a butler. The butler can't win. Not in the job description.

Brooks over Hyde Park. In an all CPS playoff, does the game get played on Thursday at 3:15?

Orr over LeRoy. I am sticking with my one syllable picks. 1 O...2 R's.... Spells VICTORY!

Chicago Christian over Collins. The guy I know that called everyone Collins needs the Lord. Chicago Christian has the Lord. Seems like an easy pick to me.

IC over Raby - I believe Raby lost to Niles North. Gonna be a long Day for Raby.

Ag Science over Johnsburg. My mother in law calls hamburgers hamburgs. I don't like it one bit. If I could verify Johnsburg was really Johnsburgers, then they get the pick. Until I can verify. Take Ag.

Hall over Michelle. Anthony Michael Hall is one of the funniest dudes ever. Rusty from Vacation. Dude from Breakfast Club....hilarious. Michelle is a girl I dated with no sense of humor. Pick Hall.

Payton over Evergreen Park. CPS all the way. Rubbing it in after Evergreen Park couldn't seal the deal signing the Phillips Coach. CPS CPS CPS!

BOTY over Elmwood Park. I would pick BOTY regardless of the competition, simply because of the name. I have extra incentive in this one, since I know this waiter/actor/bartender/stand up comedian that graduated from EP and can't stop talking about the glory days. BOTY!

Sterling over the Phoenix. Sterling returns the Phoenix to the ashes. Quickly.

Phillips over Lake Forest. Phillips in the playoffs = the Phillips DC with his crazy grill and his (allegedly) drunken tweets. Best time of the year.

Kenwood over Crystal Lake South. IF, the current horror movie remake was Friday the 13th instead of Halloween, I would take the Camp Crystal Lakers. Sorry Michael Myers. I'm a Jason kind of guy.

Simeon over Rockford East. Does Simeon watch Rockford East Film? Does Simeon bust out the headsets for the game? Does the head coach actually carry paper with writing on it this week? NO NO and NO need. Simeon with the running clock in the first quarter.

CPL against the world. I ran some numbers through the ol type pad and have come to the conclusion that CPL is getting more disrespected than ever. I get where it comes from (thanks Jaton) but I think the coaching we are seeing in CPL is better than we have ever seen. There's going to be big things happening this year in state.

I give credit to the winners and all the CPS football teams that fielded a team this year & finished out the season let alone win a playoff game more so vs a non CPS.I talked a few years ago by chance in person to a high up CPS.He did not impress me.I asked him why he didn't let all the CPS football teams with good records make the Prep Bowl playoffs and have a chance and why he didn't let more teams in the State Playoffs.He said man I'm sorry but they would get killed by suburban schools let alone some other city schools.I said dude look at the records.They already are for the most part.He was not a happy camper

Gives them another week or 2 of practices. Let’s them see what good football looks like and the level they need to get to. Lots of potential good things can happen.

Something not touched on which blows my mind is seeing CPS once 4(6A these days),5A(6,7A these days),6A(7 or 8A these days) are now 5,4,3,2 even 1A!!!! WTH happened?
