Well I see all these other conferences have predictions, figured the CPL needs to get in on the phone. While there are to many to post I will pick a select few to try to give love to some of our under the radar schools and better matchups. Yes Simeon and Phillips are top dogs but I don’t see many close games left for them so they will probably be left out. With that onto predictions:
Young vs DuSable-
Young has a new coach and they are on the path back.
Young 35 DuSable 12

Fenger vs Roosevelt
Anyone who doesn’t love Fenger isn’t a friend of mine. While Roosevelt had some success in years past, it has been tough sledding for the rough riders so far this year. Can they right the ship?
Fenger 42 Roosevelt 0

Prosser vs CICS Ellison
Ellison has some cool unis but Prosser has one of the best backs in the CPL in Lavion Bland. I expect another big game for him.
Prosser 35 CICS Ellison 7

Comer vs Rowe Clark
I do not know much about either team but figured I’d show the Nobles some love. Comer sounds like Conant
Comer 28 Rowe Clark 14

Brooks vs Schurz
I am expecting a high scoring affair in this game and Brooks has the better QB in my opinion
Brooks 39 Schurz 33

Dunbar vs Washington
After a rough year last season that saw Dunbar go through many struggles it appears they have righted the ship and are on the rise again.
Dunbar 24 Washington 6

Phoenix vs Urban Park West
Speaking of rising, the one thing I know is the PHOENIX IS A RISING!
Phoenix 27 UPW 12

Senn vs Collins
As Stacey King likes to say, “if you’re scared go get a dog.” Well I’m not scared often but when I am I sure hope the Senn DAWGZ roll up.
Senn 19 Collins 0

Lane vs Solorio
Solorio has only been playing football for a short few years but has had some success so far. How much of that success was driven by Quincy Patterson and how much is based on Solorio and the overall program. Lane was once a CPL power but hasn’t been considered that in quite some time. I can tell you this, this sure isn’t your grandpas Lane.
Solorio 22 Lane 0

Mather vs Kenwood
Kenwood appears to be a program on the rise, led by Coach Turner, the DC for HEROH.
Kenwood 48 Mather 6

North Lawndale vs Back of the Yards
The North Lawndale Phoenix are fast and rising but Back of the Yards is a very solid and dedicated group. This one will be close but you have to like BOTY.
BOTY 24 North Lawndale 18

Game of the Week
Urban Prep Bronzeville vs Clark
One of 3 Urban Prep school, they are steadily getting better and play some solid football. Michelle Clark has been on the rise for 4+ years but has yet to get over the top. Can Michelle break the glass ceiling and be more than just a beacon of hope? I don’t think they are quite there yet.
UPB 18 Michelle Clark 8

Finally, a pick 'em I can get behind!

Dusable
over WY - Dusable is feisty. Backs down from no one.
Fenger over Roosevelt - Fenger plays tough every week, plus Fenger is fun to say.
Prosser over Ellision - Prosser so ssmooth they had to use s twice!
Rowe Clark over Comer - Comer not only sounds like Conant, it sounds like Comb over. That's funny.
Schurz over Brooks - Always bet on the team in purple...unless it is Northwestern
Washington over Dunbar - The father of our country is feeling it this week.
Phoenix over Urban Prep West - I'll buy that the phoenix is rising.
Senn over Collins - I knew a guy that calls everyone Collins. He knows nothing about football.
Solorio over Lane Tech - If this game is at Lane, no one will know the score anyway because they have never changed a light bulb in that score board. Ever.
Kenwood over Mather - Kenwood brings the wood! Just thought that would be appropriate here.
Back of the Yards over North Lawndale - Playing for the coveted Golden Sod trophy, BOTY brings the big mower to this one.
Bronzeville over Clark - I dated a girl named Michelle. She was awful.

Love the love...

Young v. DuSable - Young is back, no doubt. Young wins easy.

Fenger v. Roosevelt - Fenger for sure. Drove past Roosevelt earlier this month and they barely had 15 out there. Not sure how they are going to last. Hope that coach is looking/concentrating on other things, or has a strong rebound plan in place with younger guys.

Prosser v. Ellison - Bland is the real deal, kid tore it up for the Jokers. Prosser rolls

Comer v. Clark - Comer has a legitimate program, that Noble $$ is being put to good use. Comer going away.

Brooks v. Schurz - Brooks has some NFL bloodlines in that program, I'll go with that.

Dunbar v. Washington - Does Washington still have a team? Pretty sure I can never find a score for them. Mightymen please.

Phoenix v. UP West - Phoenix rising, you a funny dude. I'll take West

Senn v. Collins - Don't know much about these 2 but, I do know a guy that called everyone Collins, for that guy I'm going with Collins.

Lane v. Solorio - Solorio hasn't scored in 2 weeks, granted they played some high level defenses, but this game intrigues me as it might be 2-0, because Lane's offense has been MIA as well. I guess I'll go Solorio as they'll have the better athletes.

Mather v. Kenwood - Kenwood in a blow out as will be every game until state playoffs begin.

Lawndale v. BOTY - BOTY rebounds from the pasting the Wood put on them last week.

Bronzeville v. Clark - Clark is doing great things, they are growing that program. Got their back as they inspire the entire neighborhood

Being new to the website and knowing very little about CPS anything besides basketball, figure I can give this a go. Usually I’m up on the north shore the kids play up here on fridays.

Anyways:

Young over Dusable. I think MJs kid went there for basketball, so they probably have some athletes and cool uniforms.

Fenger over Roosevelt. Never heard of these schools but Fenger sounds like finger, so that’s cool.

Prosser over Ellison. You guys say the RB is the real deal so we will go with that.

Clark over comer. Not a big fan of the word comer, one of places I visit for work is named comer, not a fan.

Brooks over Schurz. Brooks had a young man a few years ago go to West Point and play quarterback. Hopefully brooks has a few more of those in this years roster.

Dunbar over Washington. Big fan of the mighty men mascot name. Although a quick search on the sun times shows that they quit football last year. Not mighty-like at all.

Phoenix over UP west. Again, being new to the website and CPS football, I see multiple UPs and it’s hard to tell which ones are good. Too confusing for this old man. So we will go with the Phoenix “risings”.

Senn over Collins. I don’t know any man named Collins. But my wife’s step-sister’s brother in law owns a cute bulldog that my kids love to play with. Can’t go wrong with making the kiddos happy.

Solorio over lane. Lane is one of the few CPS schools i know. And I know one thing for sure, they are not that good at football (at least by north shore standards). Can’t understand how a school that big doesn’t have one of the best teams in state.

Mather over kenwood. Don’t know either teams. So just a random guess.

Back of the Yards over North Lawndale. Didn’t a back of the yards coach go to independence college on last chance U or something like that. I love to binge watch that show and dream about playing football again before my wife reminds me that I wasn’t that good to play college football anyways. LOL!

Clark over bronzeville. Again with the too many UPs teams to keep track of. Also I drove past Michele Clark once on the 290 when I was heading out to CO for a hiking and skiing trip. So there’s that.

I’m going to have to do just a little research first! I have my game picking reputation to think about ;)!! I mean I am in the lead in both the ESCC and the Dukane conference pickems! ;):p

Even more reason to jump on this. You’re winning the minor leagues over there with the ESCC and Dukane. CPL is like the majors, not with the level of play necessarily but with the wild swings. If you can master this one you can master any conference.

Young vs DuSable-
I’m going to have to go with Young here, DuSable sounds French and we all know that they are a bunch of quitters.

Fenger vs Roosevelt
You fellas are right, Fenger does sound like finger, and we all know how important those are on Friday nights ;)

Prosser vs CICS Ellison
I highly doubt a player named “Bland” could be exciting so I’m going to with Ellison.

Comer vs Rowe Clark
Comer does sound like Conant, but I once got my car broken into visiting up there. So I’m going with Rowe Clark.

Brooks vs Schurz
My brother in law went to Schurz. My brother in law is a d bag. Go Brooks.

Dunbar vs Washington
Washington will cross the Dunbar ford and win a patriotic victory.

Phoenix vs Urban Park West
Urban Park West is too many words so I hope you’re right and the Phoenix Rise.

Senn vs Collins
If you can’t run with the Dawgz you better stay on the porch!

Lane vs Solorio.
Isn’t Lane filled with a bunch of nerds? Too bad there aren’t any math problems on a football field. The mighty south side team clearly beats the lane geeks.

Mather vs Kenwood
I’ve never heard of Mather so they clearly must be awful.

North Lawndale vs Back of the Yards
North Lawndale gets slaughtered at the Stockyards!

Game of the Week
Urban Prep Bronzeville vs Clark
Bronze was once a a very valuable mineral. Many ancient civilizations used Bronze as the premier metal, using it in armor, swords, and shields. Alexander the Great once conquered most of the known old world using a primarily bronze fueled army. The Neo Assyrians and Phoenicians also used bronze in their early civilizations to cement their standing in the world. The Phoenicians invented the alphabet so I’m gonna go with Urban Prep Bronzeville here.

1-0 so far. Back of the Yards with a huge second half comeback to take the Golden Sod Trophy. Nothing better than the 3:15 Thursday Varsity games. Why every conference doesn't get in on this type of fun is unreal. CPS IS BEST!

I know it wasn't on the list but that Morgan Park Hubbard game must have been a slobber knocker. MP with the upset 7-6 over Hubbard.

Not so fast my friend. You’re going to need to check yourself before you wreck yourself. While Washington was a great president he was not feeling as mighty as the Dunbar Mighty Men! So you’re 1-1.

Great game by BOTY RB McNickles as NL started off hot and had a halftime lead before BOTY, led my McNickles, battled back for the win!

That is disappointing. Scores are not reported in the normal places which makes CPS Pick' Em a lot more exciting. No way to know scores + 3:15 Thursday tilts = Best conference ever

UPB 18 Michelle Clark 8

Update I went 11/12 this past week with the only game being wrong was Collins beating the Senn Dawgz by a score of 48-12.

Take aways from week 6:
The top 2 CPL conferences, the Red Bird and Land of Lincoln, appear to be fairly even with the exception of Phillips and Simeon, the weakest 2 teams are probably in L of L, but otherwise tight matchups that can go either way.

Bland from Prosser is legit!

Comer May sound like comb over but they handled business vs Rowe Clark.

Dunbar appears to be back with another big win over George Washington.

The Phoenix always Rise!

Solorio beat Lane, it appears Lane may be looking at a 1 win season and 0 conference victories.

Kenwood doesn’t have much competition left this season until week 9 and could be an interesting playoff team.

Never count out BOTY, after being down at half to North Lawndale they came back to win the game(only 2 points off on the final score in this one).

Michelle Clark is getting closer but still not over the hump it appears.
