Wondering why these teams aren't in the playoffs? Simple. Only the top 2 teams in each conference get in in these 4 conferences. Here's the breakdown on each conference:

Big Shoulders:

Young-Already In and will most likely be the #1 or #2 seed in 7A (gah)
Lincoln Park-Beat Mather. They're IN.

Great Lakes:

Lindblom-Already in since they beat Agricultural Science and Douglass
Douglass beat Agricultural Science. They're in and might shake up 1A?,...

Second City:

Westinghouse-In by 2 games
Clark beat Phoenix Wednesday. They're in.

Windy City:

Kenwood-In by 1 game
Dusable is ahead by 1 game over South Shore and Hyde Park. Dusbale beat both teams already, and South Shore beat Hyde Park Wednesday.

One other positive about the Chicago Conferences, aside from being more accurately divided by enrollment, is that they make more geographic sense - Big Shoulders s/b Northwest, Windy City is Southeast (has 4 of the 6 members of the old Public League Southeast conference), Second City is West and the Great Lakes could be South Central or Far South. Even if the restriction was lifted the CCs would probably get done in by low opposition record point totals since many play an all-Public schedule or are fodder on mediocre suburban program schedules (although Schurz has owned Maine East for 2 games now). The CPS sports administration should go back to the 8 divisions w/ 6 teams (no more Illini/Chicago) giving more hew to geography.

No they should not. Chicago Conference play is awful and intercity is brutal to watch.

Chicago conferences are getting better though. Young with a decent draw could win a game from what's been said on the board. I saw them a few years ago and was impressed with how hard they hit defensively.

What is the difference between a CPS school or some other schools getting beat by 30,40,50 in the State Playoffs as opposed to the Chicago Conference,Inner City schools getting beat by that much in the Prep Bowl playoffs??? Give em a shot

Not very team should make the playoffs. Just like not every kid should get a trophy. Have you seen any team in the inter-city conference play? Even 95% of Chicago Conference teams are not very good. If the best teams in CPL (Illini conf) are getting smoked by 40-50 what's going to happen to the teams in lower divisions?

Big Shoulders(1-3 vs Non CPS Schools).Great Lakes(1-5 vs Non CPS Schools).Second City(0-5 vs Non CPS Schools).Windy City(0-7 vs Non CPS Schools) making for a 2-20 record. The Inner City Conference schools are 0-10 vs Non CPS Schools will a probable loss coming in week 9(East Moline vs North Grand) looking like 0-11.Illini Conference Schools are 1--23 vs Non CPS Schools. The Land of Lincoln went 5-1 thanks to Phillips and Solorio 2 wins each(beat playoff bound Ridgewood)

Young will get clocked 1st round by the lowest seeded teams in the 7A bracket. WY always looks good when they are in the Chicago Conference, then next year when they are back up in the Illini with Simeon and Curie, they will of 1-8 and back down to the Chicago.

They should have been put in the Windy City or Second City for a truer test. If the divisions reverted to geography Young would be a good rival to Payton and/or Westinghouse.
