This was the best conference top to bottom in CPS this year. 2 teams in the quarters with a very good chance of advancing to the semis is absolutely outstanding. IMO Solorio could have been a 3rd but unfortunately Phillips stood in their way. Conference games between Phillips, Raby, and Solorio were all hard fought and definitely had that "personal rivalry" vibe to them with all the Twitterverse chatter.

(4A) Raby vs Dixon: This is a very winnable game for Raby. In fact I will be surprised if they dont win by at least 2 TD's. Raby is a solid team who can air it out if you load up to stop the run and have a really fast, athletic, & tough defense. The Raiders just went into Richmond Burton and took everything they had before pulling away at the end while holding the Rockets to a little over 50 yards of offense in the second half. Dixon has given up a ton of points this year and I dont think they want to get into a shootout with the Raiders. The Dukes better bring some speed to use on that 1980's Hanson astroturf because Mr. Turnipseed and the Raiders can fly.

(5A) Phillips vs Lemont: This is an old heavyweight fight between 2 power punching defenses with a heavy dose of downhill running. If you like old school HS football, then this is the game for you. Phillips D just held all state/Virginia Tech commit QB Quincy Patterson to a little over 70 yards passing with 1 TD/1 int and 14 carries for 1 yard. Lemont has only given up 79 points thru 11 games thus far so we know how stingy their defense is. Can the Indians contain Craig Elmore and company or do the Wildcats make it to their 4th semifinal in a row? My early prediction is Phillips in a low scoring hard fought game by 7.

Good Luck to all of these young men from CPS. I would love to see both make it to Dekalb.

Not much interest in this thread but congrats to the Al Raby Raiders and the Wendell Phillips Wildcats. These two teams have shocked CPS and I'm sure many others making it to the semifinals together. That is unheard of here in Chicago. Proud would be an understatement.

I wouldn't call it shocking, Had both in the semis in my brackets. I have Phillips to win 5A but Raby to lose the title game in 4A.

You're the only one I've seen consistently pick Raby and most wanted Phillips to lose for various reason. Now both have reasonable chances to make it to Dekalb.

Pretty sure Neilski had to shut it down, rumors of health problems and maybe some other issues. It had gotten way out of hand though. Most of the posters were absolutely ridiculous.

In a city of 2.7 million and with all the football kids going to a couple of schools, they better be able to do well in 4A and 5A.... LOL

That site was anything goes unless it was a shot at Neil. Then it got deleted immediately. I think by the end it was basically the same person talking to themselves under various names over and over.

As bad as it got on there, it was still the only real place to go for CPS focused sports information or sports talk.

I started a Prep Bowl talk one day talking about the top 16 Illini,Top 16 Chicago,Top 16 Intra City Conference teams being let into it.It started out great.I didn't look at it for 4 days as I worked double shifts. It had gone from Prep Bowl into white refs are against black schools in the playoffs, then trashing of white people which turned into trashing of black people, shootings and murders and then politics and such. Not long afterwards the site was gone

The Public League .com was also an outstanding source for in depth CPS coverage. Unfortunately it also had to end.

Lol yeah, just don't mention Lane Tech or Taft football.

The Public League was great as well. Until the guy running the site took all of the information on player provided free by CPS coaches for press coverage, shut down the the website, and started his own for-profit recruiting service using the information he took from the CPS coaches under false pretenses.

And yes, posters did seem to have a bit of a bias against Lane Tech and Taft.
