Maryland center Pharrel Payne (A&M transfer) was stretcher'd off after this. Never seen a guy land like this before. No word on his condition.
Like those old clackers. The ol testicular splits
I wanna see somebody do a pull up and put both of their feet on the back board like them old school street dunk contestRefs have been lax on techs for hanging on the rim lately. Amari would hang on the rim last year and this year, Jelavic and Kam seem to like hanging on too. Lots of players dunking and then doing a pullup as part of the motion of getting down. Wonder if this injury will force refs to crack down on that again.
That said, it's just a super unfortunate injury.
Honestly, they should hang for a second or two, you would rather come straight down rather than coming off on a horizontal motion where losts of things can go wrong, including another guy coming in as you're trying to land.Refs have been lax on techs for hanging on the rim lately. Exactly, who really cares how they get down anyway? It affects the game in no way.Honestly, they should hang for a second or two, you would rather come straight down rather than coming off on a horizontal motion where losts of things can go wrong, including another guy coming in as you're trying to land.
After rolling your ankles a few times, the last thing you want to do is come down on someone's foot.
Yeah, I always wondered why that was a technical. Made no sense.Exactly, who really cares how they get down anyway? It affects the game in no way.
If they get down safely, that's one thing. Looks to me like Payne was showboating on the rim, which is different than waiting until the landing zone is clear. I agree with y'all's points, though. Just curious if the powers that be will use this an an excuse to crack down on it again.Exactly, who really cares how they get down anyway? It affects the game in no way.
Idk, looked like a freak accident, but they may use it still. I agree with the showboating stuff, but the vast majority of them are guys just waiting or that’s just the way they dunk.If they get down safely, that's one thing. Yeah, it depends on your lateral velocity. Jump and stuff, not much point in hanging on. Dunking off a dead run, you definitely want to hang on.Honestly, they should hang for a second or two, you would rather come straight down rather than coming off on a horizontal motion where losts of things can go wrong, including another guy coming in as you're trying to land.

Like I've watched it three times. Dude had plenty of room to land....he just....didn't.Oh Lord ! I hate to see that happen, showboating or not, he shoulda' hung on a lil' longer to make a safe landing. Hope the young man gets well soon, that was scary...
That’s about how I would have described it. It did look like an AI video almost. It’s hard to see in real time but in slow motion he landed on the back of the Marquette players foot and that caused him to slide.Like I've watched it three times. Dude had plenty of room to land....he just....didn't.
Left ankle went, left leg went, dude did the splits and with such force he banged the hell out of his head. Looked like a damn cartoon.
He was looking down court and I think he brain went before his body was ready.
Probably rolled his ankle, tore a hamstring, pulled his groin and got a concussion all in one incident.
Hope he's ok but put that dude in bubble wrap.
He’s possibly out for the year…. SadRefs have been lax on techs for hanging on the rim lately. Amari would hang on the rim last year and this year, Jelavic and Kam seem to like hanging on too. Damn! Fractured hip you think? He’s out for the year…. Sad

- The injury highlights the unpredictable nature of NCAA basketball.
Not sure, they haven’t released any information and Buzz Williams said he wouldn’t outside the standard B10 injury report. I got on a fan site and many are reporting him walking around and apparently spotted at a women’s game last night walking around already. Maybe he lucked out with a hip sprain or something relatively minor.Damn! Fractured hip you think?
I think I'd heard a hip sprain/strain too. Here's hoping it's that minor of an injury. Not sure, they haven’t released any information and Buzz Williams said he wouldn’t outside the standard B10 injury report. In the game of telephone a friend of a friend is a team manager and he is supposed to be ok as far as major injury. We shall see.
