If you're a Rocky fan like myself, its a MUST SEE. Great soundtrack, goose bump moments throughout, its not like the more recent Rocky movies at all. This is Rocky 1, but in todays format and on steroids. Great movie!

Rocky movies are like pizza, even when they're bad, they're still pretty good. Me and my son are going to check it out this week. I love Rocky, the story of his life has been cool to follow, yes even Rocky 5.

As an adult, Creed is better than any Rocky movie made after 1977.

No way it's better than Rocky IV brah, no way. I mean, we talkin' Ivan Drago. No way.

Nine year old me would agree.

As my family walked out of the movie I asked my wife what she thought. She said are you kidding? It was a 10/10. She was only going to appease me in the first place.

Tommy Morrison gave the Rocky franchise AIDS and it is dead to me. Nothing happened beyond Rocky 4.

Rocky IV is basically a 20 minute movie with nothing but montages the rest of the time.

Still prefer Rocky II over the original.

Speaking of boxing movies, I saw Southpaw a few weeks ago. It was okay; not great. Not a lot of good boxing movies the past decade. However, I loved The Fighter.

The Fighter was great. Bale's performance is one of my all time favorites. He was incredible. Russell casts great actors and then finds a way to bring out their best. Creed is probably solid but I don't care too much for Coogler or Jordan. I hated Fruitvale Station. I thought it was garbage.

You shut your dirty whorish mouth. Not only did rocky defeat the Soviet Union but he took down the biggest bad *** of all time in drago! Plus he ended up nailing and marring Bridgette Nielsen! I'm sure her g spot maybe higher up than Stallone is tall but he probably used a step latter to make it work!

Not denying that Drago and plot and soundtrack weren't awesome. It's just that 80 percent of the movie is montages.

In all seriousness, 31.9 percent of the movie is montages. Someone added it up and wrote about it. 29 minutes and 10 seconds of a 90 minute movie was montages.

Hilarious.

Rocky, the orginal, was a great film. Stallone wrote a great, simple, pared down script. It was a less is more type picture. It shouldn't have won best picture over the far superior Taxi Driver, but it was still a great movie. The subsequent films not so much. Contrived plots, grandioso themes, terrible acting, etc. Those pictures were meant to make money and entertain and they served their purpose. I loved Rocky IV as a kid. Some of my favorite critics were impressed with Creed despite its corny elements and formulaic structure. I'm glad it's being well received. There is a place in cinema for films like Rocky and Creed when they are done well.

DaBoss, you need to go see it. You sound like a Rocky guy. This isn't like the sequels with cheesy jokes and poor acting. Sly didn't write it or direct....I guess thats why its so good.

Want to feel old? Sylvester Stallone, right now, was the same age as Mickey was in the first one.

Did you ever see the ESPN 30for30 documentary "The Real Rocky?' Man, Stallone ripped that guy's life off for his story.

I didn't know that man. That's disappointing. I'll check it out today.

I don't want to completely dismiss Stallone's script but he most certainly took a ton from Chuck Wepner's life and ended up settling with him out of court.

He didn't even stop at Rocky. He still ripped things off from Wepner in Rocky III. In real life, Wepner took on Andre the Giant for a charity event so Stallone had Rocky take on Thunderlips (Hogan) .

Wepner even claims that Stallone didn't even stop with just the Rocky franchise. He used Copland or something for another thing that was inspired by Wepner's life.

Dang. I remember watching that dude on ESPN Classic as a kid. I need to watch that 30for30.

'Creed' is a great film! I saw it and it immediately took me back (much like 2006's 'Rocky Balboa' did) to the old Rocky films I loved as a kid. Of course, as much as I liked 'Creed', there's no way it unseats Rocky's I-IV for me. They will always be 4 of my favorite films and will always be movies I can watch over and over again (it drives my wife nuts because I've watched the fight at the end of Rocky II so many times, if I ever see it on I have to stop and watch it).

All of our military expenditures have been one gigantic waste. Sly, Chuck, and Arnold could have whipped the Russians, the Arabs, the Chinese, North Koreans, and Vietnamese all by themselves.

Sweet -- maybe later this week you can randomly resurrect some other 6 month old threads.

Or would you prefer I start a new one to discuss this?

Or here's a great idea. If you don't want to read it then don't go and waste your time clicking the thread, reading the post and then writing a post complaining about it. But then how can you pander to the GYERO crowd for likes to boost your self esteem?
