Now that Brian Bowen Sr. has officially named in court today Creighton as one of a handful of schools offering cash for his kid to play hoops, will the Jayskers here have a group heart attack? The old Kevin Ross scandal was probably worse but it's hard to understand a Catholic school endorsing such behavior.

Love this stuff BTW!

Never cared about Creighton and I don't care if they are penalized or not. Penalize the guilty and carry on.

Nebraska looks to make "The Dance" again and I'm excited for that.

The only thing that ever moved my needle, was the fact that they are regulars in the Tournament and are from Nebraska. That's it.

Well...the Jays will have to decide who to sacrifice. The AD or the HC...my guess is that the AD will stay and McValley will be gone. That is IF they have to do a sacrifice.

Nothing will happen unless money exchanged hands
What?

Dude...you are thinking about Blue Bloods...If UNC creates fake classes for the team and the NCAA finds out...Boston College will be punished.

But for a **** team like the Jays...forget about it. If the NCAA wants to hammer them they will.

Best bet now for the Jays...is that Bowen KEEPS talking and it starts to sound phony.

So all it takes is a recruit’s dad to say he was offered cash and a job. No corroboration, no evidence? Sounds like Supreme Court hearings

A religious school doing unethical things to help them win? Not possible right?

True. You have testimony from the Dad who was told this from a slimeball agent. It could be true or it could be a slimeball agent playing schools off each other and using the family. IF money has been proven to have been exchanged, boom. If not, it gets murky.

I am not surprised in the least that college BB is dirty with all the AAU and academy type places. Big money and pressure being put on. It's spilling over to fb as well with the IMG academy type places.

Not good. Huge money being invested in them and someone is expecting a return on the investment.

Pretty much...the NCAA can do what they want. Of course most of the time they do nothing.

This particular case is interesting though...because the dad said this stuff under oath which in theory would mean he is telling the truth and gives the NCAA even more ammo.

Plus, no one ever lies under oath...right? Hahaha

The Dad could very well be telling the truth of what he was told. I think it is credibility of the agent that should be questioned. Creighton could be guilty or got played.

No one lies when they are testifying with immunity. It's a perfect plan, the feds can say he has no reason to lie because he can't be charged with anything. Perjury is out because, unless there is a taped recording, no one is going to pursue that.

No doubt Dawkins told the dad that. I am guessing dad, sleazeball he is, didn't lie about that. But its not Dawkins testifying that someone at Creighton told him that. Unless Dawkins testifies to that or they have a tape of someone from Creighton making the offer (or a document), its just hearsay and therefore Bowen's dad's statement in and of itself can't in any way be used to support any action against Creighton. I doubt Dawkins testifies. But, hey, it gets Creighton mentioned as a player along with programs like Arizona, Oregon and Louisville. As they say even bad publicity is publicity. Secretly, they are probably like, oh yeah. Get the publicity no chance of consequences.

Here is the part that I find interesting...Bowen was ranked like 25th...if the 25th best player is getting this stuff tossed at him (even from non-blue bloods and crappy basketball schools like Okie State and the Jays) than what the hell are top 10 guys getting from KU, Duke, UNC, UK, Indiana, MSU, Nova...

On the Dawkins side...I bet he won't testify but I won't be shocked if he talks to the NCAA at some point.

I saw how much Oklahoma State was offering and suddenly their football team's success the past ten years or so started to make sense.

Right? I mean we all know this stuff goes on and we know that every school does it but it is still amazing to find out more about it.

With how Nebraska bad recruited high school ballers you really think they are out there offering a boat load of cash and a job for a parent? Doubtful.

No program will probably be dinged for this unfortunatly. But there is no doubt Creighton was playing dirty. This kid was being played to play AAU ball, his dad was being paid and to top it off at one point it was almost a foregone conclusion he was going to commit to Creighton. I’m sure that was just because he was seriously enterested in their dentist program. Laughing

None of this means anything without evidence.... it's just talk. People lie on the stand all the time.

You only get convicted of perjury if they can prove your lying.... how exactly would they go about that?

creighton would be getting better players and not having to always go the transfer route if they were regularly paying 100k for players.

Why didn't we offer to pay?
We can pay.

We need to find ways to pay because I'm tired of getting beat by those that pay.

Sorry. I forgot to put that in sarcasm font. Creighton can’t prove that it didn’t happen unless there i a recording of Murphy saying “we aren’t going to pay you anything”. So they can’t prove he purjured himself he has immunity from everything else. Like I said, perfect plan.

Without the money being accepted, it's unlikely that anything will happen to Creighton with this incident. The problem CU will now have is that reporters like Brett McMurphy will start to investigate all the programs mentioned by Brian Bowen Sr. Stories like these make reporters careers. There will be a lot of non-local reporters sniffing around and trying to dig up any past indiscretions.
