3 questions.

Define “Never shoots well”?

You consider 3 double digit wins (average margin 14 points) grinding them out?

How far back in history did you go to come to your conclusion?

2016
51% from field 33.3% from 3, 15 point CU win.

2014
47.1% from field 43.5% from 3, 10 point CU win.

2012
46%% from field 47.1% from 3, 18 point CU win.

Well, crap. That shows you how good my memory is. Seemed to me those games have been grind it out affairs. I guess they have found PBA more to their liking than I recalled. Although I believe last time they dominated inside. That shouldn't happen this time. Maybe this will be the year they can't shoot in Lincoln.

I would work the post if I were Nebraska. Creighton has 3 bigs, two of which are 6'11/7'0 bean poles. This game could come down to who can stay out of foul trouble.

Also, does scheduling matter? Creighton is off all week, Nebraska plays mid week. I almost think early in the season, that benefits the Huskers. Later in the season, the rest may be better.

It should be an interesting contrast in styles and teams in this game.

Nebraska has a lot of experience, but not much depth. Creighton is young, but with a lot of depth (they can play 10 or even 11 in a pinch)

Nebraska has a much better D, Creighton's D is disguised by their pace sometimes, but they are still not ever a lock down D.

Nebraska struggles to get into sets and move the ball. Creighton's young guys can go in and out on that, but when they move the ball they are tough to stop offensively - and Alexander can get his own shot when needed

Nebraska lacks inside presence, Creighton has 3 big men but generally plays 4 guard sets (1 of the bigs is a true frosh, the other a soph). I expect to see some sets with 2 of them on the floor if the game turns into a grind it out game - wonder if Copeland and Martin saw each other in the Big east?

Should be a good game

Who will control pace? Will Creighton play with enough pace to make depth an issue?

Will the defensive pressure from the experienced G's and Wings for Nebraska force Creighton's younger guys into mistakes (especially if they control the pace and make it a half court battle?)

and Alexander can get his own shot when needed - Great... Nebraska has Palmer, Watson and Copeland who can create their own shot... Big advantage Nebraska here

I expect to see some sets with 2 of them on the floor if the game turns into a grind it out game - Creighton has no one that can match up with Roby and Copeland... Once again advantage Nebraska

I hate Creighton, but we hear the same stuff every year. Until Miles can beat McDermott, not of this matters.

Oh I agree... just know that even if McDermott beats Miles again. It doesn't take away the fact Nebraska's players are better than Creighton's this year.

What the hell do you think? The basketball IQ on this board is that of a mentally handicapped person. Of course no one will admit that Nebraska is good on this board! There is always another reason why we win. PeliniTheCrutch bet me $50 that Clemson will lose 14+ games because we beat them... They have 90% of their points back from a Sweet 16 team last year including 4 starters. People tend to not look at logic when we are doing well

And even if Nebraska does beat Creighton McDermott will always be a better Coach than Miles..

I don’t understand all this Nebraska is going to win by 10 or more when every time Nebraska gets out executed and doesn’t shoot better from the perimeter than the jays..

Admittedly, I did not look at their schedule before spouting. They aren't very good right now though, for whatever reason.

He is not necessarily a better coach. His style is Miles Kryptonite, and he stuggles against that style. Miles style works well against other coaches more than McDermott's style would. It is all a matter of opinion, but head to head McDermott owns Miles you can't argue that!

McDermott = Pass on the the good look for that extra pass for the great look

Miles = Create space to make my athlete do what he can do.

Duly noted..

McDermott also recruits better perimeter shooting players for his offense... when Nebraska works the clock and most times they force a bad shot because there is too many standing around watching someone go on-on-one..

I am more of a fan of how McDermott runs his offense... and now I just vomited in my mouth a little bit after saying that

The other side of things is that our Defense is on another level. Basketball is not all about offensive sets. Defense it extremely important in basketball, and we(Nebraska) are very good at it. Ask any other Big 10 coach if they like playing our defense. John Beilein may be the only coach in the Big 10 that I would argue is better

You have to give McDermott credit to see how he has evolved as a coach. His offense at UNI is nothing like he runs at Crayton. He ran his old sets the start of his first year at Crayton but started to evolve as the season progressed and flipped it once they reached the CBI. Crayton fans were not overwhelmed when Raz hired him after the ISU debacle.

No, but they sure dig him now especially when Dougy boy was such a scoring phenom.

It does scare me that CU has a full week to prep for Nebraska, while Nebraska has to make a road trip to the twin cities.

One potential factor that could help Nebraska. This is the first matchup for McDermott without Devries (now Drake HC) devising the defensive game plan for the Jays.

I wouldn't spend that $50 just yet. Clemson is struggling with a team called St. Peter's. They are not that good this year.

To be fair to McDermott, he inherited a toxic group of players when he took over Iowa State program.
He mishandled the situation and I think he learned from it.

Jays go into Marquette and get a win over the #10 team in the country. McDermott must have watched their effort on the defensive end and asked, "Where has that been all season?"

Too often the Jays look like they just want the other team to go ahead and score, so they can shoot another three.

They have really turned things around since mid January really. Only given up 70 or more 1 time in their last 8 games. If they win their last 2 in Omaha and pick up a win or 2 in the Big East tourney, they could possibly work their way in to the tourney.

I seriously am going to be become a Husker football fan and give up on Husker basketball. Admit everybody else understood this for the last 60 years, I like basketball. No more. I hate basketball. We have sucked for 20 years. This year, we were going to make the sweet sixteen. Creighton sucks and they go in and beat Marquette. We get trashed by everybody. Somebody calm me down and tell me the Big East is really just a glorified Summit League.

I don't think the board will have much of a meltdown anymore if creighton get into the big dance, it will be almost poetic justice for McDermott one ups Timmy again!!! Miles finally beats him but collapsed and creighton gets into the tournament and Nebraska still sucks. No I'm not a creighton fan, far from it!!!

Sucked for twenty years? You must be under 30. We have sucked for my entire lifetime and that is a lot longer than 20 years. No NCAA tournament wins ever is almost grounds to eliminate men’s basketball.

Creighton's not getting an at-large bid unless they make a run to the Big East Tournament final. Today was a really good resume-booster, but their last two games are at home against Providence and DePaul. Winning those two games don't give them much of a boost, while losing either of them would be a killer.

We trashed Creighton. Finally. But we were ranked. Maybe beat Michigan State and Iowa. But we are not going to win the Big Ten tournament. Maybe we get to and win the NIT. Hard to take we are getting trashed by Penn State. And Creighton goes on the road and beats Marquette. Glad the Lincoln Journal will not report the Creighton game but I have to read the Omaha World Herald. Like I said, from here on out I am just reading about Nebraska football. Wish they could win some games again so nobody cares about basketball.

If they win their last two, that puts them at 19-13, 9-9 in the big east with a win at Marquette. That may not get them in, but it puts them in the conversation. A win or two in the Big East tournament would get them in I think, depending on the size of the bubble this year.

Yeah I think winning their last two will probably push Creighton out of the bunny round of the Big East Tournament, so then one win in the tournament gets them back onto the bubble. Win one more beyond that and they're likely in, which is why I said they need to reach (not win, but reach) the tournament final. Maybe something short of that gets them in, but I doubt it.

With the way the schedules are, is isn't that far fetched to see Creighton with a 3 or 4 seed in the Big East tournament.

Seton Hall (7-9) has to play both Marquette and Villanova
Xavier (8-8) plays at Butler and has St John's at home
Georgetown (8-8) is at Marquette and at DePaul
St. John's (8-9) at Xavier

IF Creighton finishes 9-9, only Marquette and Villanova are guaranteed to be ahead of them, and DePaul, Providence and Butler can't finish at .500. So it comes down to this

Seton Hall isn't winning both of those games, so non factor in seeding.
Xavier needs a split to finish 9-9, (split regular season)
Georgetown needs a split to finish 9-9 (Creighton holds tiebreaker)
St. John's needs to win at Xavier. (St John's holds tiebreaker

Nebraska shoulda just turned in the jerseys and called it a season after the Creighton win. What a mirage. We might have done okay this season if the BIG was made up of teams constructed like Creighton. But we folded the tent approximately 5 minutes after the first punch to the mouth in a BIG game. Whoever coaches here next will have to figure out how to have a physical presence on our roster.
