Already got with Crestrulz on this and as you would expect he is sandbagging.

Is third time the charm for The Pope’s Boys vs the pesky yet talented Chargers or does Catholic confess their sins once again? 🤣. We will find out Friday night at the “K”.

Chargers got a very small defense I just hope it’s not a running clock before the half. We also don’t tackle well. Catholic would have to turn the ball over 4+ time for us to be in this game

Playoff “seedlings” this year are as crazy as NCAA March Madness this time.
One thing for Crest: They have won at Catholic (maybe twice) — ya never know!

You lost by four to wedddington in a 7-3 contest...Crest got dominated by Kings Mountain...Think Catholic is gonna be just fine. Doesn't take a genius to figure this one out.

Footsoldier got it right. Sandbagging. "Can't play offense. Too small on defense. Can't tackle. Concerned about a running clock..." Smiling as they say it. Only 5-1 in a perennially tough conference. In the playoffs...again. One of the few teams that Catholic has never beaten. I am sure they are going to show up. This game may not be pretty, but it will be physical.

Sandbagging as usual. Crest is good and they’ll bring it. Two good teams going at it. Should be fun

Perennially tough conference? Haha! The only two teams worth anything are in the playoffs maybe you should read the stats of the other teams.

Catholic should be favored by 10+. Playing at home, played better competition and they have a great system in place. Just hope Crest can compete.

Ruff is at QB now. Would of loved to of seen Crest line up with Fuller, Ruff, and Adams in the backfield. Just wasn't in the cards.

I think this game will come down to line play like we saw in Crest/KM game. Crest has to find a way to buy TJ a little more time when he throws the ball and defense has got to finish plays at the line.

If the Chargers would have looked better against KM there might be a little wolfing going on but KM dominated both sides of the ball and made it look easy! Hopefully we match up better with Catholic but it’s gonna take a team effort

Nothing we can do but line them up and see...I can still remember that 2010 game Crest had three losses, Catholic was undefeated. 4th round game I was just happy Crest made it to the 4th round for the first time since 2005. Those Catholic kids lined up and yelled at our players as they went to the locker room just before the game started, HUGE mistake. We were the underdogs then. Lets see if we can do it again. Knock the hell out of them rich preppy pope boys!

Lol 2002 crest ranked number 1 in 3A, undefeated and ranked number 2 in all classifications. Asheville cougars come to Cleveland county riding an 10 game winning streak after starting the year 0-2. Those crest guys yelled at our players under the goal post near the team locker room just before the game started. HUGE mistake. We were the underdogs. Knocked the hell out of those chargers.

its also a true story we blew a 16-3 lead the next round against ashbrook in the fourth round with 3 mins left. Lol

I remember that game, that truly was shocking. Crest should have had 5 championships in a row between 2000 and 2005 but arrogance, bad injures and a dirty coach ruined it. Still can't believe Ashbrook won in 2002...that still blows my mind.

I’m not exaggerating when I tell you we were up 16-3 with under 3 mins left in that game against ashbrook and lost. Would have been less heartbreaking to have lost to that crest team. They were incredible with spikes and Travis Lee and Padgett. That was a win 2 out of 10 game probably for us. But looking back on it that was probably the most talented roster Asheville high had the last quarter century.

Ok I’m sorry for talking about this on y’all’s game thread.

Credit for finishing the story. I would have left at it the beating Crest part. Just made the title a few years later all the more sweeter I bet.

Would have been back to back in 04,05 if we didn’t blow a 20-0 lead against concord with 5 mins left in the fourth round. We are the kings of choke jobs

Seems like the bball coach was checking eligibility and realized a player was ineligible that just happened to be on the football team. That's what I heard anyway but I have no clue how it all went down but I remember how bad it was for those kids .

From what I recall the ultimate bad guy was determined to be a former Shelby coach at the county office. But who knows if there was any truth to that.
