Credit to Burns defense on the win and Crest defense on shutting us down on offense in second half. It didn’t matter what we did they were all over us. We passed the ball and they were right there waiting. We drop back and they were in Ben’s face. We ran the ball and they just had our number. Defense held on. Crest will be hell late in the season. Hard to be mad when you are 2-0 but we got another battle with KM next week.Burns had 130 total yards and only 13 yards rushing. If you told me that before the game, I'd say there's no shot at winning. Crazy game.
Me personally I think it should be a W. They did everything they could do to play. It’s unfortunate Freedom had the issue they did with Covid and I’m sure that was hard on them too. It definitely shouldn’t hurt them for playoffsBall game, so my first question is, does Crest get a W from last week? Or does Crest playoff contentions start to rely on Crest winning conference with covid interfering? Also congrats to burns and good luck
Yea. Just in the opposite direction.
Yeah the crowd around me was livid at the last few play calls. Good hard fought game, pity someone has to lose a game like thatLittle surprised at the sweeps and double reverses with 2:42 left but oh well great win for the Bulldogs..
Sorry I try to update on here and MaxPreps and send in scores. It gets to be a lot at times lol.You guys are not very descriptive. Burn has no offense and then silence for 6 minutes. Chargers at the 1, but there are two of them. Which one?
You do a great job with it Bro.Sorry I try to update on here and MaxPreps and send in scores. It gets to be a lot at times lol.
Good win Dogs. Crest will be a handful the rest of their season. Turnovers and penalties were crucial as well as kicking. A defensive struggle. I’m still keyed up. Best of luck Chargers. Burns has come up short so many times with Crest in the past. Glad they came out on top for a change. And… impressive pre game fireworks. Wow.
That has Paul Hoggard written all over it. I’m not surprised one bit.Little surprised at the sweeps and double reverses with 2:42 left but oh well great win for the Bulldogs..
Crest is doomed offensively. That has Paul Hoggard written all over it. I’m not surprised one bit.
You know I never thought about them going for 2 there. But now that you mention it, probably would have been a good idea.Did anybody think the crest coach would go for 2 on that last TD? Especially the way they were moving the football. I had the thought for a second ....first game for Crest, playing away, kicking in hs is always a gamble.
Crest will get it together. They have some good offensive potential- the QB will only get better, runners were quick at times. Year before last when Burns beat Crest pretty good -everybody was so down on Crest but they went on to win their conference and beat a good KM team and Huss to do it. They will get there.Crest is doomed offensively.

Hindsight is always 20-20. In the moment, either call is a gamble. You know I never thought about them going for 2 there. But now that you mention it, probably would have been a good idea.
That dropped TD pass nearly cost us the game. A 28-7 lead going into half would’ve been HUGE. Our offense was totally out of sync in the second half because our players were cramping up every play. Crest dominated the second half. We literally did not have a single first down in the second half. But we won the turnover battle and kicking game. I also thought Crest might onside kick after they missed the extra point. If they recover, they would’ve had more time to score. But hats off to Ryan, Azari, Lance, Cahari and Nick for making the big plays to win us the game.Burns misses a huge opportunity right before half. Receiver dropped a TD pass. But at half it's.
Burns 21
Crest 7
Chargers will get 2nd half kick.
Yes its easy to play arm chair qb. Go for it and get it then hes coach of the year .....go for it and miss hes ran outta town.Hindsight is always 20-20. In the moment, either call is a gamble.
I'll say at the time there was still 4:25 left, the Burns offense had shown no ability to move the ball at all in the 2nd half and if I'm not mistaken Crest still had all 3 timeouts. Crest coaches had no reason to believe they wouldn't be able to get the ball back with time left to do something. Especially the way they had been moving the ball on the ground. So I think kicking the EX Point was probably the right decision there. But like you said LD, go for 2 and get it and you're a genius.Yes its easy to play arm chair qb. Go for it and get it then hes coach of the year .....go for it and miss hes ran outta town.
Really good points Nelson. Two different Burns coaches have decided to go for 2 in the past and not gotten it. (Beam against Crest and Freedom in 12, and Senseney against ER in 15). Good to see some of those kicking decisions/results going in our favor now.
The 2015 ER game was a nightmare...Really good points Nelson.
Didn’t like the offense that much at West Montgomery. Didn’t think it would do great in 3A. Just my honest opinion. This comment appears every season along with a second round exit in a sub divided playoffs. Burns and Shelby are top of their divisions. Crest is not even close to the Crest of old. They're average at best.
Defense played great all night. Really impressed with the linebacker play. #32, Davis was all over the field all night and it seemed like in on every play. The outside backers as you mentioned had a pick and scoop and score. That dropped TD pass nearly cost us the game. A 28-7 lead going into half would’ve been HUGE. Takes a good Qb situation to feel comfortable in that moment. Young guys can muck up timing easy in situation like that. Two different Burns coaches have decided to go for 2 in the past and not gotten it. Very hard on the QB because they constantly get hit and 95% of the plays are 10-15 yards from the line of scrimmage so good teams just kinda load up the box on you..Just my honest opinion alsoDidn’t like the offense that much at West Montgomery. Especially breaking in kids on the OL. That’s tough for sure. I knew we would learn a lot about both Friday and I mentioned before the game that they mirror each other. After the game I believe you said the same thing which tells me we were right. Two teams that are damn near identical, young QBs and OL along with a tough defense. An extra point separated the score. Both can cause problems late in the year if we stay healthy.Very hard on the QB because they constantly get hit and 95% of the plays are 10-15 yards from the line of scrimmage so good teams just kinda load up the box on you..Just my honest opinion also

Taking plays right out of the Crest playbook we’re you!
