At least he issued an apology albeit after the NFL and ESPN slammed him for his "fall guy" comments. For years, rumors have been he is a horrible person and teammate. This weekend just backed up those claims.

Was he not given credit for keeping Randy Moss in line when he was first recruited? Don't think I am wrong.

At first I read "Jimmy Carter is a POS".

I never knew he had that type of reputation. Granted I never really followed his career that closely, but he does at times come across smug and arrogant on TV, so there would be no reason I guess not to believe that it wouldn't carry over into his everyday life.

That speech was for the 2014 class.

Only after it became public did he apologize and admit it was the wrong advice. He had over a year to recognize that mistake himself and never did.

To my way of thinking, Carter has never been much more than a wise-guy/agitator.

But his virtual sole connection to ESPN TV....the fact he largely sticks to the NFL.....and that he's probably not as bad (or at least as loud) as the Steven A Smiths of the world....always seem to shield him from being lumped in with the bloggers. I also used to believe he acted as though the Yellow Blazer provided him a fairly large degree of immunity from attack.

It's about time something knocked him down a few pegs.....meanwhile, it'll be interesting to see if his act now changes.

ESPN will do nothing to him. We have to keep in mind that he did attend The Ohio State University. I usually turn the moron off when he shows up on Mike and Mike.

He never felt he made a mistake. Thats how he actually feels and he knows how the game is played.

I rarely watch ESPN these days for anything more than getting highlights. Carter is part of that reason.

Actually, I'm with you JL.....

In fact, strictly speaking.....unless the Mountaineers, Pirates, or Steelers are on.....I really don't even use ESPN for games themselves all that much anymore. I probably "watch".....and that's a misleading term, since I often go weeks without turning them on (especially after football shuts down).....Mike & Mike more than any other regular/normal ESPN programming; and unfortunately, Carter has that extended weekly time slot on their Show.

I'll also add, that I tend to get my highlights from MLB network, NFL network and Fox Sports 1 if I can catch them.

I read an article in the WSJ the other day talking about how Disney has cut long term projections due to more and more people cuting the cord to cable. A big reason for this is because people are starting to cut the need for ESPN; which is one of the higher cost options for cable packages. So even if the consumer doesn't cut the cord they are choosing to drop the expensive "sprots" package because of the cost and thus cutting the cord to ESPN.

It will be interesting to see how this trend plays out over the next 5 to 10 years.
