Undefeated Freshmen win 42-13. Combined score 104-41. Is this a first?

Well if your practicing for a team since July. Might happen, all that focus for one team ? Might be why they weren't ready for Loyola

I was surprised to hear that statement myself. Loyola is a better team.

Because MC is their main competition for impact players on the southside.

Time for MC to go coed.

Or move to Lincoln Way North.
Damn, if not for the RE bust of 2007-10, that might have been necessary. Woodlawn was on its way then pfffft. A move to the farther SWSs is kind of a slap to the South Chicago (diaspora)-Lansing-NWI portion of the base.

focused on one team since July? Do you really think that's how a high school team prepares?
Do you think Rice's scout team was running the veer option in July and August. Stop drinking the kool aide and know the game

Btw defensive bus got in an accident on the way to Loyola and showed 20 minutes before kickoff. Also a few starters on the defense took the ACT that morning so they missed the first half. Loyola is by far the best team in the blue
Getbbt , do you know what the ACT is?

Nothing personal just the facts

Ignazio, as long as they have an extra $100 million sitting around.
I hear that they can get Lincoln Way Central for a lot less, but it's an as is fixer upper.

They did work not only on MC but Providence and Loyola to guys. Also they did have a accident on the way to Loyola and they came out flat and distracted. But no excuse Loyola is the better team but I think they would have played better.

How dare BR dedicate some time over last 3 months to an offensive power that's been running same system for 30 years. Not fair!!!

That 97 game MC was#1 in 5A and Rice did not make playoffs.rice won 21-3.that might be worst game I've ever seen as MC fan based on those factors. MC was all juniors though and in between two"A" teams so somewhat palatable.

I always thought MC's offense was something you just don't take one week before the game to try to learn to defend. It is a difficult O to defend and hey if they're running it some in the Summer to keep kids on toes then GREAT - it just panned out f'ing beautifully for the Crusaders and I say Bravo Badke

At first I scratched my head upon reading the comment. But like the old saying goes, "to be the best, you have to beat the best". Brian respects MC's program and like another poster said, they're competing for the same talent each other. A victory may sway one kids decision in the long run.

For me it is really a situation where Rice is supplanting Rita as MC chief competition. Rita is not going to be very good next year either and Rice will be a top 8A team and co-Blue favorite. I also cant imagine Rice frosh don't beat Rita badly. They seem to have best frosh class in Blue.

Might be Sherwood Blount/Pony Excess time. Nothing is more important then winning a high school football game.

you know it would not be crazy for St. Rita to consider moving to Lincoln Way North....that may go a long way to keeping the place alive for decades. The area around 79th and Western is just getting more and more difficult to attract kids too, very good facilities be dammed

I'm in the minority, but I would prefer the school close than move to Lincoln Way North. The essence of St. Rita, even after moving from 63rd, was an inner city school set-up to provide a strong, Christian-based education to working class young men. Ditto for Mt. Carmel. If St. Rita cannot survive without moving to the suburbs and/or going co-ed, than I would prefer to open a new school with the same personnel (as I don't want anyone to lose their jobs) but under a new name. I just feel that St. Rita high school was meant to be an all-boys city school, and if it loses that identity, I'll never think of it in the same way.

I hear what you are saying but I think if it did move to the Tinley Park / Frankfort area it would exactly be what it was back in its heyday and what you said...a strong, Christian-based education to working class young men. Those south-side working class families have left in droves they last 2 decades and reside in the suburbs. It would be the same school as it was back when it was on 63rd street just in a new way. No one needs to do more and see all the neighborhoods on the south side that have changed demographically and the such. MC has been unusual because of the transportation they always provided and the fact they have always been more of a destination school with kids coming from all over the city (DLS same thing) ....Rita forever was a neighborhood school relying on the 63rd Street and Western CTA busses. They have transportation now but they cannot do anything about crime at the corner of 79th Street and Western. Would hate to see them continue to decline because of things out of their control. Back when they moved from 63rd Street there was talk of them moving to the suburbs. Now may be the time to revisit that.

You make good points and I bet the overwhelming majority agrees with you. Moving from 63rd to 77th probably saved the school. But I still think SR lost a bit of its identity/fabric with the move, and I think a move to the suburbs would drastically (and in my opinion) and irreparably remove a key identity of the school.

Whoever gets to the old LW-N campus first deals a death blow to Marian Catholic, also. That school would be an instant large class juggernaut.

How much capacity do the classroom buildings have at old Mount Assissi in Lemont? Convert that or build "male" buildings and a stadium in the same footprint.

What about moving to NW Indiana?
That would be somewhat logical based on where a good chunk of Caravan alums end up, but I think MC enrollment is a multi-legged stool (the chair kind, not "what comes out of the candy man's a*&" - old SFDS cheer against them), MC could just as easily move "north" to say, Michael Reese Hospital's old grounds as it could along the South Side Irish trail SW suburbs
