Some reasonable posters nailed it- he did hold but it only gets called 50% of the time. What are you going to do?
On the other hand- how does the RG get away with being in an almost upright stance before anyone else moves?

Game was not lost in a call- lost on coaching. Eagles have a good one and you guys will be good for a while. But you also weren’t tested much this year.
If you want to blame anything on the loss- 3rd all time sack team was shut down.
You need to start tgere. Not tge hold, not tge offense but your DL.

Time frames feel a little different on those.

Yea that’s part of my point.

This guy will probably always remember how Eagles fans boo’ed Dak at the SuperBowl during the award presentation but I’m sure has forgotten the time Rutgers students chanted “F the Navy” when we played them.

Yes, if they do it the same way they do it in philthadelphia.

What makes me feel better is living rent free in all the Giants (and maybe Jets) fans heads.

Clearly you were all bothered and had bunched up panties that the Eagles were in the Super Bowl.

If the Giants lost last night I’m not running here to create a thread and celebrate. I’m pretty sure our other Eagles fans on this board wouldn’t either.

Rent free baby.
Philly fans are the ones who have an inferiority complex when it comes to NY teams. Listening to the radio in Philly, the fans there sound like the world is coming to an end. A lot of talk from a city without many Championships.

FYI: I didn't have a dog in this fight. I admit I wanted success for KC because their OC was my teammate at Colorado and their DC was the DB coach at Rutgers under Graber. I played under Graber.

I’m talking about the Philly fans on this board. While there’s a smaller % (probably 15-20% of posters) you rarely see these types of threads from Philly fans….meanwhile they pop up very frequently from the NY fans in this board.

There’s definitely an obsession over Philly fans or teams by some on this board.

Again - I hate NY pro teams. I also think NYC sucks aside from visiting maybe once a year. I’ve experienced a number of occasions with obnoxious fans (including bad behaved Rutgers fans).

But I don’t run to this board posting about it or starting threads basking in their teams misery on a continuous basis like a child.

I also think you’re confusing a couple things here.

I don’t believe Philly fans have an inferiority complex with NY. We actually hate the Cowboys (and their local fans) much more. We dislike the Giants, but aren’t obsessed with hating them.

Philly fans are extremely passionate. You see it in the streets and in the radio. Yes there is a fair share of lunatics or folks who take things too serious/far…but I don’t any of that has anything to do with our thoughts or feelings on NY.

I hate everything Philly sports , especially the Eagles and Flyers. Eagles are my most hated NFL team , Flyers 2nd most hated in hockey after nyr.

I am happy that KC won.

But Eagles fans clearly have the upper hand on Giants and Cowboys fans now and in the forseeable future

Was at a party with about 25 people: a few big Eagles fans, no obvious KC fans, but quite a few Giants fans rooting mostly against the Eagles, except for a couple of guys who wanted the Eagles to win from a conference respect perspective. As usual, I was neutral, as my only real rooting interest these days is in RU sports, despite being a big Philly (where I grew up) and Baltimore (where my parents are from) sports fan from childhood into my 20s.

I probably would've rooted slightly for the Eagles, but that was countered by having the two RU guys on the Chiefs - was very happy to see Pacheco have such a great game and was very happy to see a great, close, well-played game. Last night, I thought that wasn't a hold, but after seeing the comments from the players, clearly it was, so no issue there. Really smart play by the KC guy not scoring the TD, so they could bleed the clock. And what was up with the field?

I see your last few posts and only see hate. Just very strange when trying to defend Philly fan behavior.

I think you’re misunderstanding my overall point. My initial point wasn’t about defending any behavior except for stating the Philly fans on this board don’t have an obsession with starting immature threads such as this one.

I couldn’t care less if people hate the Eagles.
If you’re a NY fan have at it. I have plenty of friends from Rutgers that hate Philly and the sports teams.

I find funny the obsession this board has with the city of Philadelphia and the sports teams. And the constant need to start threads and post. If the Giants lost the Super Bowl last night I’m not running here to create a thread about it.

And no your assumption is very off. I like plenty of cities around the country outside of Philly. I like plenty of cities more than Philly. NYC is just not one of them.

Questionable calls in these spots happen. Giants had a playoff game taken from them out in San Fran in 2002 on a missed blatant PI in the end zone. And the Eagles have had many fortunate breaks in my lifetime, particularly against the Giants (even before i was born with the Picarchik fumble) so I don’t feel bad even if they were hosed on that call.

That said, I’m not trolling the Eagles fans. Was happy for my friends who are Eagles fans when they beat the Pats and would have been happy for them had they beaten KC. On that note, I would never be happy for a Cowboy fan for their team winning. Ever.

I see more posts against Mets fans than Philly TBH. Maybe that’s just during Baseball season and probably more this last year because the Mets played so well during the season. Take it as a compliment. Philly had a nice run in 2 sports like NY did in 1986 and I got grief from both Yankees and Philly fans that year but only Eagles fans during the Foorball season. Jets fans always keep quiet.

Judging someone because of a team they root for is ridiculous. Claiming an entire fanbase is one thing or another is really unintelligent. Trying to taunt people by saying their favorite team is crying is juvenile. Allowing a taunt like that to bother you in the slightest is pathetic.
Seriously, grown adults on this board are getting all in their feelings about a game between two teams they don't play for. Two teams made up of players they've never met and never will meet. I am a big Eagles fan. I watched the game, and the ending was disappointing. If you think you can trigger me with your little song (same one was sung by a 6th grader yesterday, btw, to give you an idea of your intellectual peers), you're wrong. I woke up yesterday just fine. My life will continue to be positive no matter who wins what games, pro or college.

Lol. Sounds like NY Teams, Fans and even NYC is residing "rent free in your head" as you like to put it. So much in fact that you feel the need to run to this thread and get all defensive and even hateful towards NYC, teams and fans.....and continue the narrative in post after post. If they weren't in your head you probably would have avoided this thread all together and not care about the trolling.

Ps....F... NYC!! Who needs it when you have Camden and Millville!!

If the Giants never have another winning season or make the playoffs again…I’m good. Very few nfl fan bases can say they’ve seen their team in 5 super bowls and have won 4.

If you want to highlight that the Eagles have a great all time record against the Giants. Go with it buddy.

I’ll take my super bowls and sleep well.

Respectfully, the Eagles have been to 4 Super Bowls.

They just lost most of them.

Bro, I hate to break this to you, but no where in the country outside of maybe Philadelphia itself is anyone gonna think of you as a victim like you are portraying. Eagles fans over the last 50 years have earned their reputation as the most obnoxious fanbase in the nfl. Heck why do you think so many Penn state fans are soo obnoxious? They’re from Philly!!!

Yell all you want about ‘F the navy’ (which should be scorned). Your fanbase holds the distinction of being the ONLY fanbase in nfl history to actively CHEER as an opponent was being carted off the field with a career ending injury. And no, that had nothing to do with NYC, that sir was Michael Irvin…. Cry eagles Cry!!!!

It's primarily fans of teams that are Eagles' rivals that tend to jump on the harsh criticism of Eagles' fans bandwagon. And repeatedly generalizing and using negative stereotypes to categorize all fans of a team demonstrates bias and an obvious agenda... I think it's pretty clear that you wouldn't be chiming in here if you weren't a rabid Cowboys' fan.

I realize that the comment about obnoxious Penn State fans being from Philly is either a joke or trolling. You've stated before how great the Penn State fans that you know and work with are.

Lastly, obviously cheering any injury is uncalled for, and it definitely wasn't a great moment for certain fans to cheer Irvin's injury, but the situation should also be put in perspective... Michael Irvin was an elite receiver, but he was also one of the most flamboyant and cocky trash talkers in the league at the time, making him easy for fans of rival teams to highly dislike. Maybe I'm unaware, but I don't recall any noticeable cheering of injuries of other players. And it's probably unwarranted to accuse Eagles' fans of being even worse because some fans cheered a "career ending injury". No Eagles' fan had any idea that the injury was severe at the time it occurred, but I can see how using that point would make your criticism of Eagles' fans seem more effective. And please don't misrepresent what I just wrote to suggest that I'm condoning the cheering. I'm just pointing out that the Irvin injury situation was more of a red herring because of who he was and things he'd said and done, and not something that occurred on a regular basis with player injuries.

Certain fans? It was the entire stadium! Perhaps they didn't know it was career ending, however Irvin was put on a stretcher with supports around his neck with an injury to his SPINE! The entire Vet was CHEERING as he was carted off on a STRETCHER!

Sure I'm a cowboys fan however the reputation surrounding Philadelphia sports fans is known nationally. How many times have you heard about the Jail at the bottom of old Veteran's stadium? How many times have you heard about booing and throwing snowballs at Santa Clause?.. How about the entire Hockey stadium throwing their commemorative wristbands honoring their recently deceased owner onto the ice as Alex Ovechkin was skating circles around them? Should I bring up the guy who puked on a kid at the Phillies game? FFS 3 days ago in the super bowl the NFL is honoring Dak Prescott as the Man of the Year for his charitable work with Cancer research and Suicide prevention and the philly fans were BOOING!!!

You will get absolutely no sympothy nationally from anyone. You're talking about the fanbase that booed the man who wound up being arguably the greatest offensive player in team history the day he was drafted... No one feels sorry for you, Cry Eagles Cry!

Man, you like to use hyperbole... First, it was NOT the entire stadium that cheered Irvin's injury. It was not the majority of the stadium either. And all of my friends who were Eagles' fans, a few of whom were at the game, and the vast majority of fans who called Philadelphia sports talk shows regarding the incident after it happened, thought that the cheering was awful, as did the sports talk show hosts.

The "jail" that they put in the basement of the old stadium WAS because of unruly fans, but the majority of those fans were the type of individuals who most likely would be unruly in other places too once they had a few drinks.. The vast majority of them sat in the nosebleed seats, which at the Vet was the 700 level, and most were from gritty blue collar neighborhoods.

Regarding fans booing the draft selection of Donovan McNabb, he wasn't the only NFL draft selection that was booed by fans of a team when the fans weren't expecting the player to be picked..... The fans that booed the McNabb pick had assumed the Eagles would take RIcky Williams, and had been pretty excited about it. The McNabb pick surprised them and they reacted. Again, not cool, but they weren't your average Eagles' fans either.

So is the small but rude and unruly sector of Eagles' fans worse than that same sector of other team's fans? Maybe, but they definitely make up the minority of Eagles' fans and not the majority. Obviously that minority can do a lot of damage to the reputation of all fans though.

Go back and watch the tape…. Irvin goes down, the stadium cheers, stadium goes quiet, then the stretcher comes out, ROARS of cheers took over the stadium as even your own players were pleading with the fans to be quiet. Your fans were well aware of the severity of the injury… perhaps not ‘career ending’ however they literally doubled down on their cheering once the stretcher came out! Go back and watch the tape!

Need more examples? Remember the punching the police horse incidents? how bout when chief Zee got beat up? How about your fans throwing batteries at your own coach, Doug Peterson? How about pelting opposing fans with snowballs mercilessly?

How about 4 days ago when this nice ‘small sub sector’ of eagles fans flipped a d*mn car!

This is not a small sub sector of fans, in general, ‘It’s a Philly Thing’😉

There is absolutely no sympathy or love lost for your fanbase. The last thing a Philly sports fan has the right to do is act like a victim

I think the fans that chanted ‘F the navy’ should be embarrassed and shamed… just the same as the idiots who scream ‘F Penn State’ every third down regardless of opponent… you wanna talk about ‘rent free’… look no further than every 3rd down at a Rutgers home football game
Most of us who were at the RU-Navy game you’re referencing never heard any “F the Navy” chants from students.

My guess is that, if it happened at all, it was from a handful of tipsy students. The only reason we know about it is because it was made a headline in the Star Liar from well known Dbag reporter Mark Dionno. Dionno served as a scrub seamen in the Navy, so he had an axe to grind. Plus he hates RU.

Dionno and his son sat in front of me at the RAC for a game and I spent some time talking to him. I came away feeling sorry for the kid to have Dionno as a father.

Such childish hystrionics. I am no obvious partisan. I know it's easy looking like a sad homer. So then really it's not good enjoying rivalries. Fans love opening old debates

This is very true. And to be honest- going to Navy the following year and seeing them cheer the video of a skit of marines chasing Rutgers studios through the halls and shooting them down was ever more distasteful
It doesn’t make what the few students did with their chant but…

I guess I missed batteries being thrown at Dougie P. Never heard that story. But hey, do a real deep dive and look up the first place batteries were ever thrown. Hint...it wasn't Philly, but it is a city a hundred miles northeast of there. I can point at incidents where fans actually killed someone in other cities. I won't, because I know that doesn't represent an entire fan base, but I could.
This thread is really pathetic.

The only thing that can explain your repeated cherry picking and exaggerations of events is that you have an agenda as an extremely biased Cowboys' fan. It goes without saying that all fans aren't angels, but your repeated insistence that it's all fans, and not just a minority of Eagles fans who tend to be obnoxious, literally defies logic and apparently is just an attempt at trolling. How many home Eagles games have you personally attended to see for yourself how the majority of fans behave? That's what I thought. I've been to about 6 or 7 and I've only seen bad or rude behavior once when we sat in the cheapest seats. But continue to bash away if it makes you feel a little better.
