Final Chatham 17-12. It seemed like the Titans didn't want to show anything ahead of the EStL game... They did enough to win...
You'd have thought Joliet was ahead 17-6 in the 4th instead of trailing by that score at the pace they were moving. Down two scores with less than 10 minutes left and their QB is still coming to sidelines after every play. Then they weren't snapping the ball til the play clock was between 5 and 10.
Also, Joliet QB was their main running threat, but they didn't turn him loose until down 14-0 in the 3rd Quarter. He had several scrambling opportunities in the 1st half for likely big gains where he instead threw incompletions.
This is why you don't evaluate teams based on reputation. JCA was 4-5 and just not a good team this year. All their past accolades mean nothing in 2025.
All.... Back from the game. SHG was up by 15 with about five minutes left on the Raider 12 and the Raider defense that played well were a bit worn down. Figuring at worst another field goal but nope. Bad snap over Cam's head and Raider ball. They march down and score with under two minutes left and don't convert on the two point attempt. Onside kick doesn't work SHG kills most of the clock. A few seconds left for QND on offense and then game over. 27-18 the final.
Quite a bit of run run throw for SHG that didn't work out so well at times. More emphasis on throwing (especially on first down) will be a must in my opinion if they want to make a decent postseason run.
As was the case two years ago the folks at the party house were cordial and fun to hang out with. Talked with several fathers of players and alumni. And arriving quite early in town I stopped off for a couple of "sodas" at the Scoreboard. It's a small world. One of the ladies preparing food (it was 10 in the morning lol) mentioned her brothers sister is married to one of the owners of the Office Tavern in town. Go figure....
Round two Carterville. I heard on the radio listening when the Titans dispatched big brown SHG plays at 2pm on Saturday and the Rockets Friday evening at I think 6pm. Ratsy

All.... I forgot to mention and I found this interesting I guess. The trip to QND is around 100 miles. On the way back just when I pass the Winchester exit about at the 50 mile mark I see one of those portable state of of Il signs that light up on the road on wheels. You know the ones usually sitting on the side as cars enter a constructions zone. Anyway as I pass it at 75mph it is lit up like a Christmas tree and it say Congrats SHG.

All.... The Crimsons (at #16) appear to have this game in hand whacking Olney a 1 seed at the half. The crappy part is Cahokia the #9 seed beat Centralia #8. So Jacksonville will once again have to go on the road to play the Comanches if my Griffin math is correct. Massey shows this game 37-14 Cahokia but I think even with all of that speed the Comanches have it will be much closer. Ratsy

Not sure why Olney threw there. Running at will and Jacksonville had multiple guys struggling with injury/fatigue.
