Good article Tim. The only guy unprotected like that out there is that umpire position. I don't understand the mindset, but I'm sure this will be handled properly

I hope the kids that did this are charged criminally. It might send a message.

In all of my days of playing both college and high school I never had the mind set to physically harm a referee no matter how bad the call. Does anyone think this is coaching? Or just a couple of bad kids?

Have to think the coaches didn't explicitly tell them to do it. But, most likely those two kids have heard bad things about officials from coaches over several years and don't have the proper respect for an official, and made a terrible decision as a 16-17 year old.

Wait a minute. Just a minute. As an official, I feel like I have to respond. While the 2 kids in question should definitely be suspended for the rest of their football careers can we please find out why they did it or were they told to do it by "adults"? I think this changes the context of this conversation greatly if it's the latter.
