Goldwire stat line was non-existent; did he look bad? I figured he could develop into a solid backup PG....

My take on CTC... Idk, I hate to say it but Bolden way never be meaningful for Duke basketball. I pray he can give us what we need at the 5. Joey Baker does not need to redshirt. He and AOC and maybe Jackcould be huge for this team, if teams try to stop the paint drives. I hope Javin will just continue to play with high energy. Zion and RJ are FREAKS. Tre will have good control, as much control as needed when the offense is in his hands. Cam, I believe will have alot of the offense started by him(second ball handler). But this team CAN be special if the role players step up, MORE THAN USUAL.

There will be nights where Cam scores 25 and nights where he might have 5. He can be streaky. Hopefully that won’t be the case but I can see that scenario playing out.

I think Jav is going to be the 5th starter. Can’t see how Bolden beats him out at this point.

1. Tre Jones had 8 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 1 turnover. He is excellent. For 1 year in college, I'd be tempted to take him 1st overall ahead of Zion and R.J. This was expected, though. He is one of the 2 or 3 most efficient players in the history of the EYBL. He is slept on by national types and other teams because he's not Zion or R.J. If he hits 35% from 3 or so, which his FT % indicates he will, he is clearly the best point guard in the country, regardless of age. Should be plus defender, too.

2. Zion is Zion. Be amazed.

3. Barrett is tenacious and he's improved since I saw him last year at Montverde. He should be a good defender in time.

4. Reddish is Ingram with better ball handling and playmaking skills. Which is good news for us.

5. DeLaurier is going to be a great glue guy.

6. I thought Alex O'Connell looked great. His shots just didn't fall. 0-4 from 3. That's okay. That won't happen often. We will need him.

7. Ques is Ques at this point. A college big who's a step slow but his size and experience could make him a valuable defender and rebounder in spots.

8. Joey Baker can freakin' shoot it but I think he needs to redshirt. He'll be a sieve defensively and there's really no room for him in the rotation because of that.

9. Jack White is a good veteran to have around due to personality/work ethic. This is what the roster is at this point. If he can rebound, defend, and hit 3s, I'm all for it, but I wouldn't count on it.

Goldwire, Robinson, Vrank, Besser, and Buckmire will see mop up duty and be good teammates.

Nice write up. And I love your enthusiasm, but if I was an owner of a team, and you took Tre Jones over Zion, RJ or Cam, I’d fire you before you could say Apple Valley. And then I’d hire Debbie Jones to take your place. Haha.:D

No slight on Tre, it’s just that he is not on their level. RJ and Zion should go down as two of Duke’s best freshmen ever. Those dudes are animals. It’s underrated how good RJ is, and he’s rated as high as it gets.

Haha don't get me wrong- I love those 3, especially Zion. Point guard in college is just so critical, as we saw at times last year when Trevon was going through his struggles.

I think this will be the best Duke team in quite some time.

Just gotta get the defense down like it was at the end of 2015.

I think we'll go 35-5 and hang a banner ultimately.

I agree, but I was really hoping to see their shots falling better then they were Friday. I know everyone has off nights, but man they were cold. But it was just a scrimmage, didn't mean anything, maybe they just weren't into it?

I’d take RJ over everybody, every time. Why? Because he’s gonna get his, every game. Sure, Zion is way prettier, more exciting and at times may even outscore RJ, and we’ve got both so that’s great, but RJ is gonna be the reason we win a lot of games people. He just has that will not be denied attitude. I love his game.

I just saw top 5 plays video from CTC and in the video Tre Javin talked about how when Javin takes a shot that he knows feels good when the ball comes our of his hands he’ll yell chicken and he did it during the scrimmage game last night when she shot and made a 3 lol

Me too. I think that’s why the team is moving to this 5 out offense. With this O, even if the shots aren’t falling, the team will still be able to score. And that allows for a little leniency on D. Duke doesn’t need to be UVA and hold teams to 50 points a night, but being able to get key, momentum halting stops is crucial. Having a reliable offense with few weaknesses will make the motivation to play D a little higher.

I'd also like us to win the Maui Invitational. Keep the streak alive.

Just for curiosity since I was not there did any of you look at both benches with the guys that weren't getting a lot of play time and notice by body language as to who could be the next transfer? Also did anyone have tired legs? ;) OFC

We ain’t no shooting team, end of story. I mean we have a couple shooters but this team will feast on transition and penetration. We are gonna draw TONS of fouls so we damn well better improve at the stripe.

I just think RJ is a DOG. Dude hates losing and you can see it how he plays.
