Alcohol is the real gateway drug. For a lot of people weed can be an exit ramp.

I've never even used the real stuff, but I do use Delta 8. Haven't had the urge for a strong drink since I started eating the gummies. I'll drink a beer or 2 but thats it. Before that I was a borderline alcoholic.

I would assume that under this imaginary scenario, public intoxication and driving under the influence laws would remain unchanged for alcohol and drugs.

The main point is incarceration for drug offenses is ineffective and a major drain on resources. Prohibition has proven ineffective and only creates dangerous black markets and never comes remotely close to fully eliminating what is being prohibited from society. Marijuana has been illegal for 70 years and I know at least 5 different places in my small town where I could go get a bag of weed right now. Prohibition fails again.

Now, if someone gets all hopped on drugs and commits a serious crime that results in the neglect of someone in their care, or injury or death of someone else, that person should be punished in accordance with the penalties assigned to the serious crime they committed. But, no adult should go to jail or be charged with a felony for simply possessing a small amount of a substance they chose to ingest. That doesn’t mean someone with 200 pounds of meth can skate because that large of a quantity doesn’t indicate personal use.

Serious question. When you say legalize everything, do you mean I can get anything without a prescription? If that’s not what you mean, where are you drawing the line?

One of the ways country’s cut drug costs is they only require prescriptions for narcotics. Simple drugs on your first visit comes from the doctor but if you need refill, just go down to the drug store and get it.
