any of you guys cut the cable/DIRECTV/dish cord recently? I'm getting ready to try the PSVue free trial. If I like it, bye bye DIRECTV. Would love to hear experiences....

I cut the cord almost three years ago. In fall of 2015 and 2016 I did get Sling TV for a few months so I could watch football on ESPN and ESPN2 but I don't know if I'll do that this year or not. I do like watching football but I hate everything else about ESPN.

I didn't have some kind of urge to cut the cord but the cable company just kept raising the price and I finally had enough. I got a digital antenna and a Roku. And I got Vonage for my phone. It worked fine. I did watch less video but I didn't care.

Early this year I bought an Ooma for my phone and got rid of Vonage. Ooma costs $90 (and it costs $40 more if you want to transport your existing phone number to it). You can probably find one on Craig's List for less than $90. After buying it your phone is free except for taxes (assuming you have Internet that is since it works via the Internet). My monthly phone bill is now only taxes and it's $4 and change per month.

I get Netflix a couple months ago. I did watch some cool stuff like Breaking Bad start to end but I don't watch it that much. But at just $8 per month I'll probably keep it.

Right now I pay $70 per month for 100 mbps Internet, $8 per month for Netflix and $4 per month for phone, for a total of $82 per month. My cable bill was almost $100 more per month than that three years ago. If I still had cable my guess is it would be close to $200 per month by now.

The cable company send mail, e-mail and postal, constantly trying to get me back. They should have just not treated me so badly when they had me. I had no desire to ditch cable and I didn't understand how people could live without it but TWC drove me away and now in addition to saving a lot of money each money I actually prefer not having a million pointless cable channels.

I'm in the same boat with DIRECTV. They keep raising prices and I'm tired of having to call and ask/demand/haggle for discounts. I can get all the channels I need on PSVue for $40. I'm paying $120 for DIRECTV and don't have any special movies channels or anything. It's crazy

Cut it three months ago.....no regrets....in fact I love it. Be sure you have a router and modem that can handle high speed internet. I had a few glitches at first......I got a better router which solved all my problems. I also have noticed I get a slightly sharper picture when using Roku/PSVue or over the air antenna inputs vs. Comcast. I also have used the Amazon Firestick with PSVue. The only reason I stuck with the Roku's was because I thought I could get around the 5 device/TV's limit by using 2 more TV's with Firesticks. PSVue still would only let me use 5. I returned the Firesticks because I still could take them back. The Firesticks did have a few more features than the Roku's but nothing major.

did it three years ago (ditched direc-TV) and got sling-TV. also use the free digital channels in my area (over 60) and I stream CthruU on weekends when we are away and the games are on Fox.

(Although now you can buy them in a package on sling-TV)

Never regretted it. more choices and I pay 35.00 a month now instead of 135.00 with Direc-TV.

100.00 X 12= 1200.00 a year that stays in my pocket and gets used for other expenses.

Cut it!

I don't know that I'll be able to get many free digital channels, as reception would probably be poor because of the mountains here in SW Virginia. But regardless, I'm excited to try it out

I just bought a new modem and router a few months ago in anticipation of doing this. Thanks for the input
