Heading out to pick up a brisket for the 4th. I use to buy a whole brisket with the flat and point, 15-20 pounds but I'm getting too old for a 24-hour smoke. 7-9 pound flat should only take about 12 hours including the rest period. Weather should be fairly nice and sunny. 93 degrees. Typical 4th.

Same here.
Austin, check out my new Avatar. Am I remembering accurately that you spent time at Camp Anaconda in Iraq? This is when it was still the Republican Guard base at Balad. I was with the Army task force that overran the base. I was in a Bradley that was firing into a Bunker from which a few Iraqis were throwing shots. An Abrams fired a round into the bunker, and a bunch of surface-to-air missiles ignited and this massive fire ball resulted. Late March, 2003.

I got some ribs to do at some point this weekend. Probably will do them party style. So only a couple hours of smoking. Probably will do some smoked beans with them too.

Hello D-League,

Haven't been over here for a while. Hope everyone is able to make the transition over to this site quickly.

Less than two months we will have our gameday football conversations in here going. I'm not optimistic about the season but will be over here on gameday hoping for the best.

You can join me and focus on the Bengals (maybe) and hope they can start better than they have the last couple of years. It seems there are always injuries or the lack of preparation until about 5 or 6 games into the season and then, they are trying to play catchup to get to the payoffs.

Happy 4th folks. Getting ready for a cook-out, just the basics, brats, dogs, burgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, and so on. I did get an absolutely perfect Watermelon, so we've got that going for us.

Can't quite pull the whole family together for this one: Oldest daughter is with her kids and husband in Kansas City and my younger son flew in from Austin, but then got an offer he couldn't refuse to reconnect with a girlfriend whose father owns a big beach house in Rehoboth, Delaware that was standing empty and who has a fishing boat docked on the Chesapeake Bay.. But my younger daughter is in town, and there will be enough of us altogether with some of my wife's people to make a ruckus and celebrate our big, beautiful country.

Hope it is a great day for all.

Hello all,

I am still working on getting my username straightened out. Been out today with My Darling. I remembered my old email address and used a new one here so I may have caused the issues. I am still working them out but the tech team has yet to contact me to see which account I can go forward with... For now I will use this one but I will post with the other one in a minute and at some point I hope to get one account deleted. Take care of have a Blessed 4th of July!!!! Well, this is my other account. It actually let me save my username here too but it seems like nothing is taking. (It would not let me save my username yesterday late so who knows...) This is my old email and account though...

Awesome. Yes, spent time at Camp Anaconda (aka "Mortaritaville"), Al Asad and couple other places.

Good morning from Burbach, Germany. Currently 55°F and nice. Break of dawn happened around 4:40 am. Loving this weather. Turning cooler tonight.

Staying with son, his wife and grand-kids on edge of Burbach this trip. Kids love Buccee's fudge. Heh.

Y'all behave.

German Harley riders out in force yesterday at Autobahn rest area. Note wind turbines in background.

Welcome back, Bernie.

Good morning from Burbach, Germany. Currently 62°F and cloudy. May see 69°F late this afternoon.

Visited Cologne again yesterday. Bachelor party for nephew. He's marrying on 19th, 2 days after I return. Attending birthday party today for long-time friend I've known 40 years, He turns 74. He's been really active in the community for many years. Great guy and better friend.

May hit up 650th anniversary founding celebration for nearby town of Gilsbach today. Drop in for a few hours before birthday party late this afternoon.

Wishing y'all another good one.

Me on left drinking a beer and playing with my phone at restaurant in Siegen, Germany last night. Photo taken by nephew. Yes, that's a Kentucky Wildcats sweatshirt I'm wearing. Son on right. Former BIL next to me on left.

Good Sunday morning everyone.

I hope you had a great birthday BBUK. Sorry I missed it.

I tried to post a pic of our new litter of bear cubs (3) but the pic was too big. We haven't seen them in person yet, but did get a few pictures. I hope they will be as fun to watch grow up as the last ones but stay out of our screened in patio this time.

We'll stay home this morning and watch church services. My wife is still reacting to perfumes/air fresheners, etc. Hope we can get it figured out. She gets her acupuncture needles out tomorrow. She's had it pretty rough both physically and mentally. Alpha Gal (from a tick bite) and possibly Mast Cell Activation Syndrome which puts her on a low histamine diet. There's not much she can safely eat or drink.

Glad we didn't lose this site. Enjoy your Sunday.

Good morning all,

Sitting outside my church drinking coffee. A combined service today at 10.

Things may be trending on my account but not sure yet. When I went to my settings and checked my username, I could change it now it seems as it isn't grayed out. My username on the settings is correct though. I will just wait it out.

Going to my daughter's after service and cut her grass. Planned that yesterday but My Darling had other plans.

Had a good couple weeks off with only a couple work days. Hitting it tomorrow though ... I am thankful....

Have a blessed and peaceful Lord's day...
