They don’t have a NFL QB. They can change coaches as much as they want, but they need to admit that trading up for Trubisky was a flat-out mistake.

He was a system QB in high school, had one decent college football season, and their awful GM made a mistake. Same Bears different year.

These are scapegoat moves. I hated Hiestand the first time he was with the Beers and not surprisingly I think the OL was a big part of the problem for the Bears this year but the rest of the moves are a joke. The Bears need to hire an experienced OC who takes over play calling responsibilities from Nagy as he has no feel for it. I would have fired Tabor and Pagano as well. The defense took a major step back this year.

Who ever said Ben was a crappy receiver? And one of his biggest assets was that he had the size and hands to catch the ball when he was well-covered. He was covered like a glove on his famous game-winning catch against Iowa in 2018, which made the reception that much more spectacular.

Last half-decent QB the Bears had was McMahon, when he wasn't getting injured. Luckman is probably the only iconic QB they've ever had, which is astounding considering their long history. Has any major city ever had worse sports management, spread among so many teams, than Chicago?

You must have missed the heavy sarcasm I tried to convey. If you look at my subsequent post above, you’ll see that I am not a believer in the “our WRs are bad” theory. I’d love nothing more for Ben to stay but believe he’ll do well if he does leave for that “other” program.

He’s referring to the entire city. Detroit has had enough success with the Pistons and the Tigers over the past couple of decades. If not for baseball and the Blackhawks, Chicago would have been hopeless since Jordan left.

I wish Jackson well, but running QBs don't usually last long in the NFL. A Bears running QB of 50 years ago, Bobby Douglass, probably had the body to last a while as a runner, but he couldn't pass worth a damn.

Cleveland. One championship in forever. I'm a lifetime Indians fan, 3 pennants, no WS, two agonizing losses in 7th game extra innings. Anybody that breaks the Cubs curse has to be well qualified for this.

The Browns make the Bears look like the New York Yankees of football (though I don't care)

The best NBA players of a generation dragged the Cavs across the finish line , once. (Also don't care)

Only Buffalo can rival Cleveland

Credit to him first and foremost. He’s maximized his talent and has bent the league to his whims. He’s like Vick on steroids yet can dissect NFL defenses.

Any talented offensive coordinator would have seen his potential and pushed to surround him with the players they have.

And smart GMs knew he was all upside - first freshman to win a Heisman I think. Definitely worth a first round pick. I’m not a Ravens fan but damn they smart.

Oh man - keep in mind that I dislike the Ravens as a franchise, but am a huge LJ fan. My initial thoughts:

• He simply breaks the mold as a mobile QB that can also dissect NFL defenses. Everyone thought only the Brady/Montana type QBs could dominate the NFL. Jackson may disabuse us of that belief
• It’s been a stereotype that African American QBs can’t win at the highest level despite one of the Redskin’s Super Bowl QBs being AA. If he / Watson disprove that racist notion it will be great for young fans of all demographic backgrounds
• He’s fun! Absolutely fun to watch play the game (most pocket passers are Boring IMHO). He’s basically a video game player come to life. More QBs like him will only help the game stay relevant

These new guys open open the position to all sorts of athletes who would not have been considered in the past. Well, you are going to have at least 1 AA QB in this years Super Bowl. The 3 best QB’s remaining this season are AA. I never hear this stereotype brought up anymore. The talk you mention was dispelled years ago. Doug Williams was news 30+ years ago. Brady was the GOAT. There have been a lot of QB’s both Caucasian and AA that have been beating in the playoffs by Brady. It had nothing to do with their skin color and everything to do with going up against the best of an era. Even Peyton had this knock against him. I just want to see the best players or storylines in the Super Bowl. Jackson is that guy this year. Personally, I would like to see Jimmy G upend him, since he is from my hood. However, if Jackson losses, it will have nothing to do with him being AA.

Mahomes and Watson have decent mobility.

Jackson has supreme mobility and is a different type of talent altogether.

The only comparable player in the (limited) time that I’ve followed the NFL is Vick, and Jackson has shown the ability to pick apart defenses which Vick didn’t.

I’ve historically loathed the Ravens as a franchise but am cheering for LJ to keep doing his thing and win the AFC.

However I think I’m cheering for the Packers in these playoffs overall. 4 NU players that could win rings will always be greater than zero.

Chicago is a big-city market that its sports owners treat as if it's a Pittsburgh, Cleveland, or Buffalo. And Pittsburgh actually has been more successful in football and hockey over the past several decades.

George McCaskey has done a very good job of hiring people that came highly recommended by NFL experts, provided more than enough financial resources and investments in the franchise and has stayed hands off in running the team and operations. What more can be asked of them? The problem is not with the McCaskeys.
