Pick a hotel that has a pool, which of course means an indoor pool. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is expensive as touch because every activity costs money. Most families spend more there in 3 days than they do a whole week at the beach. That's why a pool is key. Let the kids go crazy for a bit doing something free.

Any of you more experienced dads ever sent your boy to the basketball camp at Transy? Middle kid just turned 9 and is old enough for the overnight deal. $270 is a lot for 3 days. Wanna make sure it's worth it or if there's a better one out there.

Bump (no pregnant)

Taking the family to Gatlinburg this weekend. Their first time down there and my my first in almost 10 years. Staying on the strip because I figured that'd be easier than loading them up and driving them all around the place. This way we can just walk right out of the hotel and be in the middle of it all. Any rec's for kid friendly activities? We're doing the basics -Ripleys museums, Dixie Stampede, mini golf, etc. they still have the go-karts and bumper boats? I loved those as a kid. And yes papa johns, got it.

Tee ball is in full swing *smile and wink* and I'm helping coach again. I really had no place doing that as I have never been baseball guy but the kids are 5-6 and my role is pretty straightforward. My oldest absolutely crushes it though. Making me really love the sport. If you ever have the chance to coach your kids do it. Total blast. I look forward to tee ball more than anything else right now.

Dollywood, but only if it's open and your kids are tall.

totally forgot about this thread.

Daughter is 2 weeks old today. Sleeps like a champ during the night. Wife puts her down at 9 and goes to bed, I usually stay up til midnight because night owl ATKOT. She doesn't wake up til around 1 when the wife wakes her up to feed her. Then the wife wakes her up again around 5-6 to feed her again. Doc told us that at 2 weeks if she'll sleep through the night to let her sleep so we'll see how that goes this weekend.

I'll spare all the other infant details. You've all been there.

It's pretty fun so far. Breast feeding so saving a **** ton of money not buying formula. Pretty nice, actually.

Cherish it. Congrats on the sleep.

Kids love indoor pools more than anything. That and hotel breakfast. They will like that more than the other stuff.

I took my oldest (8 at the time) to the SECT in 2014. After we got back I asked him what he like best and he said the hotel waffles.

My little man started sleeping through the night around 7 weeks. Talk about feeling like a new man.

Does it get worse than waking up every 4 hours? Because right now it's pretty money, especially since the wife is breast feeding. Most nights I don't even know when she gets up.

It's pretty common for their sleep patterns to change, but some lucky parents have kids that sleep all night from day one. We've been pretty lucky. Since ours was 3 months old (she's 8 months now) she'll basically sleep all night. Wakes up one time for a bottle and a fresh diaper and then right back to sleep. Last night for example she was down from 8:30p to 7a, only up for about 20-25 mins during that whole time.

Edit: should probably mention that she doesn't nap much at all compared to most babies. Probably makes life miserable for her babysitter, but her working parents really appreciate it :sunglasses:

Our 4 month old has been a pretty good sleeper since about 3 weeks of age. Since that time, she routinely sleeps 7-8 hours at a time, occasionally waking up in the 2 AM range for a bottle.

We do that 'dream feed' thing or whatever the dumb buzz phrase is where we put her down at 7:30-ish, get her back up carefully at around 9 PM while she is still mostly asleep, give her a bottle, then put her back to bed. Puts her in a coma more times than not.

Since she's started teething and going through an obvious growth spurt plus natural sleep pattern changes, she's becoming a little bit more unpredictable. Has parties by herself in her room at whatever hour but typically puts herself back to sleep. We feel lucky as hell with the sleep aspect but know it could all go downhill fast any time now.

My 4 year old son is in love with women. Dude gets out of bed and gets dressed before anyone so he can turn on who framed roger rabbit and watch the Jessica rabbit scene on repeat. Watches inappropriate music videos, talks about the girls at his preschool like pieces of meat. It's embarrassing. But what can I say? He's smitten with the opposite sex like any red blooded American male. Whatever.

Oldest has a giant head of curls and insists on wearing one of those under armour skull cap headband things for all his tee ball games. He hates the way his curls poke out from under his hat. Looks like a total dbag but what can I say? He's a baller. First at-bat of the season was an in the park homer. Yes it's only tee ball but I was still beaming like I had just kissed Wendy peffercorn.

Speaking of, we are probably going to let him go to the UK baseball camp this summer. He's gotten obsessed with baseball which is pretty cool. He'll sit and watch for hours. Really neat when your kids start to get hobbies and interests other than running around and slapping their dad in the crotch.

Joey is 2.5 months old now, he's starting to develop some personality and he recognizes us now so that's really cool. We've been lucky in that he sleeps well, hopefully that keeps up.

He's going to be a tall kid, I'm thinking future PF.

2-4 month sleeping was really good. Thought we were in the clear. 4-6 month :gun: Hopefully for you all he's just a stud sleeper.

G is closing in on 10 months. Dude is a monster. All over the place. I think will be walking sooner than later. He's mimicking us, responding. He's a handful but a lot of fun as well.

Also, WS stop reading DADYERO at this point.

Get a card.
Put a crayon in their hand and guide it around the paper as lightly as a ouji board. Wife will cry at the scribbles and display it on the mantle.

My first child was great at the sleep stuff. She would sleep for long periods like that when she first came home. I think by the time she was a month she slept all night long.

Enjoy it if you ever have more kids. They all are different with everything. If my second child would have been first, would have done the vasectomy a whole lot sooner.

It can be chaotic. At that age, don't try to go out and eat. It's the busiest day of the year unless you're going to Hooters. If both sets of grandparents are local I would invite them both over, grill out, pickup a thoughtful gift and make a small donation to the humane society and it will go smooth.

*Pro move is getting a card from each of you.

For the first baby born 3 months before I just did everything that day like feelings, made breakfast in bed and cooked dinner, rented a movie......just made it laid back and easy as possible.

For the second he was 7 months and my wife was back to work(nurse) so I got a canvas 40x60 picture done up of the oldest holding the youngest and sent her pizza to work.

Of course other than xmas neither of us buy into much of anything on holidays except spending time with people. Gifts seem to be a way to just relieve most from anything thoughtful.

Do lunch at about 2:30 and miss the Mothers Day crowd. Both of our moms are alive and kicking, so we still have (get) to meet up with them.

We just do a card, usually. For the wife's first Mothers Day, the boy and I got our pictures taken together for her. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Now we have three kids, and I'm not wrangling all of them for a picture that will sit in an album that is never opened.

Step 1: Get her a card from you…the kind you buy in a store. Best wife/mom type stuff.

Step 2: Get her a card from your baby…the kind you make out of construction paper. Fold construction paper in half. Write some cute Happy Mother's Day **** on the front like it's from the baby. You write it but use block letters with caps all screwed up. Should look like something dunnstillfreeandalive would type on RR. But personalize it with some phrase or saying you and her have said throughout the pregnancy/sleepless nights/or whatever…just personalize it. Get some finger paints. Dip baby's hands in paint. Put baby's hand prints on inside of card. Have the baby scribble some illegible stuff on the inside next to hand prints. And then more block letters from you saying I Love You Mommy, From: Anth Jr.

Step 3: Don't forget to wash the baby's hands.

Step 4: Should be something like breakfast in bed. Since you will be in Metro then get your hangovered *** out of bed early and go get her favorite specialty coffee & a muffin or some **** from Starbuck's or Heine Bros. or whatever/wherever she prefers.

Step 5: Enjoy the gratitude sex.

You are done.

My kid will be 9 months old later this week, and lately her sleeping has taken a pretty sharp turn for the worse.

From 3 months old to about 8.5 months old she'd sleep from about 8p-6a, only waking up one time for a fresh diaper and a bottle and falling right back to sleep. Now she's staying awake until 9:30 or 10, and is waking up frequently.

We think she's teething again (already has two bottom teeth) and are hoping that's the reason she's not sleeping as good.

G just got his top 2 in and the next 2 top teeth look like they're coming. He slept pretty good still and was just a little fussy. You all using those little teething tablets?

I know a girl, $300. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The ironic thing is that her top two haven't bothered her nearly as bad. She was a nightmare for the bottom two.

Teething babes:
We got these little nets with a clasp where you put frozen fruit inside. Like a frozen strawberry ring pop.
Jockstrap jr. digged it.
